BTW, I have to say, 15 for 5 maps was already a rip in the first place, same with 60 bucks every year for a BARELY different game, BAAAAAARELY.

Now this is even MORE of a rip and money grab.

How is it "elitist" to point out that many PC versions of games are given little effort and give little reason to have a PC over a console?

Imagine having a game on console that doesnt use any of the PS3 cell's SPUs or doesnt use the Xbox GPU daughter die and just use the basics? Or a game decides not to use force feedback at all (crappy mouse support) or have horrible UI (UI that works for a controller, not m+KB)?

You get underwhelming games.

"Vehicle control, movement, and damage are all representative but combine to make the game too hard for beginners."

Too hard for beginners? He literally states in his article, conflictingly:

"While players unfamiliar with off-road racing can adjust vehicle assists such as automatic braking or graphics showing the optimal vehicle travel path, this removes any challenge whatsoever. Turning off the assists makes the game ridiculously difficult for...

A decent article but lacking some facts and knowledge.

Really need to learn what "porting" is and what "from the ground up" means. There is a gray area in this.

Call of duty has roots in console MP? The game started as a great PC exclusive with COD1. Then moved to console with COD2.

Rest was pretty solid though. The reason multiplats are a hard sell on PC is because PC gamers get to compare the quality of those games to PC...

I remember when the generation first started I was wanting gaming to be more popular.

Now I wish it wasn't.

-Kids insulting like mad on mics. Adults behaving just as bad.
-Subscription fees for service that were once free.
-Mods becoming less available and instead map packs that cost 1/6 to 1/4 the price of a full game.
-features being claimed as new or innovative but are just rehashes and a price slapped on it.

I ...

Well, they took note from bungie but there is something new, now you can pay money for it!

And people need to check out things like raptr or Playfire.com. These allow social networking of PC, xbox and PS3. Playfire will show want achievements and trophies you are getting, when you are playing a game and depending on the game, lets you know what you are doing IN the game.

This stuff is free. Activision is trying to capitalize on consumer ignorance

0 MAX.

stat tracking? Practically every game has this already, AND for free
Social networking? (Try raptr or playfire, does ALL your games social networking for free, PC XBox and PSN)
Downloaded map packs? so if I pay 15 bucks for 5 maps, now I pay 3 dollars a month and after 5 months, you are ripping me off? Or are there going to be 5 maps released EVERY 5 MONTHS? Cause thats the ONLY way to keep the price the same as it is now.

That steam update also includes the free Troll Trouble DLC.

The scale of set pieces or the scale of places WE CAN ACTUALLY WALK/DRIVE/FLY TO in the game world?

That is what the difference in battlefield games, it isn't just long view distances, its large maps/areas you can ACTUALLY venture out and about on.

Dpad sucks but the rest is perfect.

I totally wish I could get a controller like that Pixel....

I bought a controller that was close to identical to the 360 controller that works on PS3 but the deadzone on third party PS3 controllers is fucked up. ARGH!

Very strange, especially when RAM prices are INSANELY low right now.

You can get 4GB of DDR3 RAM from a high end company for a mere 50 bucks right now. Why can't a handheld get at least 1GB for 15 bucks wholesale/manufacturing/econom ies-of-scale price?

@Surfaced
Another fact, the original Xbox had 64mb of RAM too...

5499d ago 4 agree0 disagreeView comment

When you cut the RAM in half, games will always suffer. I can't imagine trying to get good texture resolution or large levels being able to be done with a mere 256MB.

@ABizzel1

Even with early games you will see a loss. Suddenly having half the amount of space for textures means you have to halve your texture sizes to squeeze it into the less space. That alone will see the biggest impact if this is true.

Well like I said above, when phones are sold out of contract, they are sold at a profit still, unlike gaming devices. Gaming devices sell at a loss (generally) and is made up in game sales.

Even though phones are "multipurpose" as you put it, gaming devices still benefit from large amount of RAM, always. From better textures to more sounds and larger levels able to be loaded and more character variety, it really does help.

EDIT @ABizzel1:

But phones are not sold like consoles/handhelds are. They (NGP) are sold usually at a LOSS because they expect to make up for it with royalty sales from each game sold.

Sony gets money for each game sold on the NGP.
Motorola gets NOTHING for apps sold on my DroidX, unless they made the app (which all the apps they make are free).

You would still think a handheld DEDICATED or at least FOCUSED to work for games would have better specs than a phone, that...

5499d ago 1 agree2 disagreeView comment

Hopefully it is not true at all. While my Droid X phone has slower CPU and GPU than the NGP, it atleast has 512RAM. Hopefully the downgrade isn't true. Hell, I would expect it to have more RAM that my phone does, like 768MB or even 1GB since it is a portable gaming device.

Wish he would state WHAT the laptop actually was besides "gaming".

There is such a variety, it would be very interesting to see. Also, if you want to game, at HIGH levels, AND be mobile (laptop), expect to pay alot more. You need chips that are smaller than desktop computers, that can handle more heat, that can't draw as much power and need less cooling than a desktop chip. That increase the cost of chips (And the laptop itself) immensely.

Do you even KNOW what a racing line is? It is like saying a new crosshair that will spread is being implemented for KZ4 and that it has to do with Move. You still have a crosshair with a contoller. It makes no sense, you make no sense.

5501d ago 2 agree1 disagreeView comment

Why are people bringing up kinect when this article is about the racing line? The line will actually move around the track instead of just shift color based on your position, angle and speed. Is anyone reading?

5501d ago 5 agree1 disagreeView comment

You have to read the article. It is a driving line that changes its location based on where you are. All games current driving lines only pay attention to the speed of your car and change the color of the line to tell you what to do, even if your apex is way off or you are off track and want to know what is the truly fastest way to recover.

While this is new and interesting, I don't think it is THAT amazing for a damn article. Too many articles on N4G about some pretty sm...
