This is not smoke and mirrors at all.
You can't really compare a linear TPS like Uncharted to an RPG and talk about single player size. Uncharted 2 SP is insanely short, as are other game like it, when compared to RPGs. That's why when an RPG gets MP, you see it's vast SP will take a hit.
Even the same goes for AC even if it's open-ish, it's not long or as complex of a game as RPG's.
Crysis 2 is not an example, first game had MP and many argue the first game was better but...

But if it was like how it was originally thought, that you get a weapons and 2 mods that other players can NEVER get, obviously people will preorder to just try and be on a level playing field.

So this article is basically saying Halo is hugely popular like COD so the price gouging activision does overseas with its COD will be happening to Halo 4 due to this quote from an independent retailer?:

I just started because I got a PS3 late last year. And so far I played and beat KZ2/3, UC1/2. Also played a little LBP, a litle Infamous, beat pixle junk shooter 1 and still playing PJS2. And I am also working on MGS4. That's why.
Man it fit really good in your hand, it is not bad at all. Still though, the 360 one is still better, but I loved the first Xbox 1 controller too.
That would be the BEST solution for everyone. It's not unfair to the player base and it gives a modest bonus for those who want it.
They didn't ruin it, but they gave us a bad taste of what may be to come with future games. That's why we need to show issue with this now before it DOES start really ruining games.
Because of two reasons:
1. To get said content, you can only buy the game at the stores they want you to.
2. If you don't pre-order, it's not just early unlock, 3 items you can NEVER get through gameplay, meaning you will need to pre-order AND do it from a specific store or you are out of luck.
I would really like to hear the them discuss the "specific retailers" issue and the bonus items that you CANNOT unlock later unless you buy from these stores.

PCs have had expansion packs for over a DECADE. You never had to worry about crap like this. You would pay 30 bucks to get: (This is based off the BF2 special forces exp pack)
-Eight maps (6 can be played in single player).
-10 new vehicles.
-New equipment - night vision goggles, tear gas, gas masks, zip lines and grappling hooks.

That's the annoyance I am having playing through MGS4 right now. I play almost the same amount of time as I watch cutscenes.
MGS4 has a little over NINE hours of cutscenes...
But there was the DMR and Carbine and pistol that had scopes...
Aim-down-sights may come, but an FPS doesn't NEED to have it, just like a cover system. It's an issue of preference and style, not a lacking feature.
For an extreme case, I don't think adding ADS to Unreal Tournament would be a good idea. So I am not to sure that Halo should do the same due to it's gameplay style.

No, Preorder it from the SELECT retailers that get it. Don't get it from amazon or steam, cause then you still dont get the LMG, the sniper suppressor or the DAO-12 Flechette ammo, and you CAN'T earn that stuff in the game.

Im sure they wont get stuck, I bet you you will have to BUY the stupid missing LMG and weapon mods (not the shottie, just the ammo) later if you dont choose the store they MAKE YOU PREORDER FROM.
