Games were profitable before this recent casual phase.

The issue is corporations, not companies, control developers and profit is put TOO HIGH of a priority.

KZ3 in 3D runs at 640x716, thats almost PS2/Xbox 1 resolution. Not only that, the smoke effects, explosions, dust, etc when in 2D are rendered at 640x360 (again, in 2D!), but go to 3D, and now it runs at a MEASLY 320x360!

GT5 is 1280x1080. That is not 1080P (1920x1080). While GT5 does have resolution a little higher than 720P (1280x720), The graphics beyond the cars and the track are HORRIED. 2D trees and super sparse environments and smoke effects at VERY low resolution is how they get 1280x1080.

Crysis 2 is not 1080P on either console, PS3 version is actually running a TINY bit smaller resolution than the xbox version.

Wipe out and GT5P? Really? PSN games? Resolution is high...

Don't forget the "minimum" is also DX10/DX11 video card and OS (vista or 7).

People don't get that "minimum" on PC these days is MORE advanced that consoles.

Wait, how can you say "doing voice over the same time as motion capture" is harder than in movies where they speak AND move on camera?

If ANYTHING, it's easier with mocap because they can just edit the animation that was recorded to make a minor tweak instead having to shoot another take....

Not only is it true, but REALLY REALLY high end PCs (meaning $2000 home build pcs) are doing resolutions like 5760x1080, which is 3 1080P screens.

PC gaming (custom built) goes like this, other PC gamers can comment:

Mainstream Gaming PC = $600-700.

Will get you 1080P and 30FPS with most games set between medium and high settings. (Crysis 2 on PC needs to be set to its lowest setting, 720P to get close to what the ...

It comes down to this.

With the next gen, just like this gen, will the developer want something like BF3 on a high end PC right now (1080P, 60FPS AND the visuals are excellent/realistic)

OR

Will the developer drop to 720P and 30 FPS to try obtain EVEN more realistic graphics than BF3 on max, or perhaps, graphics like BF3 on max on EXTREMELY large levels, similar to GTA4 but even bigger with no pop-in and detail as small as paper rolling on th...

I work at Verizon Telecom. The cheapest Fios package is 15Mbps down and 5Mbps up for $55 (It is even cheaper in other areas). And there is NO cap due to how Verizon is doing the architecture of their network. Long gone is the days of all your neighbors on the block surfing the net at the same time and your speed goes down.

AT&T is also switching over to fiber optics, not as good as Verizon how ever, but near 100% fiber (Fiber to the Hub vs Verizon Fiber to the home). Comc...

Most entertainment centers hold a MINIMUM of 2 devices. My modest entertainment center can hold around 6 PS3s or 360s.

Having a Wii-U and a dvd/blu-ray player on the side isn't a bunch of electronics. Especially with Netflix streaming and other DD's becoming incredibly popular.

Exaggeration...

Crysis 1 came on ONE DVD.

Graphics is most heavily affect by GPU, RAM and CPU. Disc space would affect the length of a game OR the variety of the levels OR a mixture of the two previous statements.

LA Noire was so many discs due to SO MUCH audio and animation data. Graphically, it is good but not as amazing as UC or Halo Reach or Crysis 2.

Or Verizon Fios which has no cap at all.

You know, the other big Telecom in the USA.

Better to buy Samsung and not pay for the brand cost that comes from Sony. They both have their LCD/LED TVs made at the production plant through their joint venture with S-LCD. Samsung also hold the majority for control over S-LCD.

But the Wii U is not even DX11, its based off Ati GPU tech from 2008, the 4000 series (6000 series has been out for months)

Oh yea definitely man, I know they said it was not optimized at all. I was just trying to explain that to run BF3 at max settings at 1080 and between 30 and 60FPS, I am almost certain a single 580 will do the job.

I felt the same way. I thought Resistance is interesting an interesting series but this third one, at least this boat scene (and I know I'll get disagrees from fanboys), is TOO much like HL2. Even the ships that fly over look similar and SOUND similar to the HL2 organic gunships. The trees and their placement is JUST like the HL2 scene on the airboat and traveling through the wash/river section, Even got a bridge that looks super similar.

I know it's different, but th...

But I play my PC on my couch and HDTV too...Wireless mouse and keyboard FTW.

If there is any multiplat game to get on PC, it's BF3 man!

Man, I can't believe you think this is CGI, meaning it is pre-rendered...

Look at the damn scarf-like piece of clothing on the solider, that is way too blocky to be wasting time with CGI. The whole POINT of CGI is unlimited resources besides creativity and artistic skill. You think they would keep the poly count that low for CGI!?

This is PC screenshots, and direct feed, not screenshots of the video of the E3 Tank demonstration.

Games that use deferred rendering:

Crackdown 1&2
GTA4
KZ2/3
Red Dead Redemption
Halo: Reach
Crysis 2
BF3

These are the ones I know of for sure and off the top of my head.
Deferred rendering does not guarantee a great looking game, it depends on A LOT more than just that.

Almost any game can. PC hardware can force AA on over 90% of games on PC. Nvidia currently has 32x.

And yes, I know the 32x setting is a mix of MSAA and CSAA, the point is you can force crazy levels of AA on practically any PC game.

Warprincess, don't you mean you don't care because it is the best on PC but happy because the PS3 version will be shown because thats all you own (or seem to own) and are just an over-the-top faboy?

If you didn't care, you wouldn't post. All you care is that the most amazing looking game in the world right now on PC is going to be shown on your holy grail platform.

If you don't have all the platforms, stop acting like one is better than th...
