There is so much truth in that statement...
This is a ridiculous argument that I read way, way too often. Composers are simply expanding their art beyond writing "catchy tunes" nowadays. If a "catchy tune" was all that was required for something to be considered good music, then Katy Perry and Lady Gaga would pretty much be going down in history as the greatest composers ever to live.
...though it would really be a disservice to modern composers to leave it at that, even, because I can name a TON of...
"And I don't want to hear "the price of the Vita is too much." People bought the PSP at that price; are those same people now saying the Vita isn't worth what the PSP was worth?"
Those are the same people living with the current economy, the one that you yourself referenced in your comment.
Whether it's a good deal for what you get or not (and it is), it's irrelevant in an economy that is unwilling to indulge in a high prem...
^Seriously. Proponents like to argue that gamers with internet connections far outweigh gamers without internet connections, but that's completely missing the point. What about laptop gaming? What about ISP downtime? What about simply not wanting to have to deal with the constant potential for lag?
There are a wealth of scenarios to consider when taking gamers WITH internet connections into account. I have an internet connection and I STILL think singleplayer online gamin...
It feels more...streamlined, in some areas, but much more fleshed out in others.
For instance, as unique as the classes in Diablo 2 felt, the classes in Diablo 3 feel worlds apart from each other. For better or worse, success with a given class has shifted almost completely away from skill trees and class-based builds.
Skills are learned automatically with leveling and can be augmented with runes for an added bit of customization. But runes and abilities can...
It's so wonderful that you've been playing all day.
Now, I could be wrong, but I think people are pissed off because they are paying a premium for a "service" (it would be incorrect to even call it a "product" at this point) that....ISN'T.....WORKING.
I haven't been able to play all day, and apparently there are thousands of others having the same problem. So just shut your gob and be thankful that you're one of the one...
Does anyone else hear that Celine Dion song in their heads right now?
I already knew all this. He is my Father, after all.
I didn't interpret it as a joke at all. And no one in the comments section here or at Crunchy Roll seems to have interpreted it that way either.
Forgive me, but apparently I didn't find the list as outrageous as a couple of you did...but who am I to say, after all? I've only been playing JRPG's for the past 20 odd years.
Japanese gamers dislike many of the same genre tropes we western gamers dislike, it seems.
Not that I mind if other folks like MGS, but I agree with Reddead and Saladfax. I think the series gets WAY too much credit in the narrative department.
It's got what's called the "soap-opera effect." Are the characters well-written? No, but this guy loves this girl and they can never be together or this lady's daughter just died or this dude has no problem crying...so obviously they are good characters. It's all very manipulative and deceptively dee...
Yeah, I agree. It's just a WoW clone with more narrative. I mean yeah, the stories are marginally entertaining, but not anywhere near as engaging as what you get from Bioware's singleplayer outings...which kind of makes the whole thing moot.
^More people need to read all that.
Bubbles to you.
Plain and simple. EA are greedy assholes because idiots feed their greed.
Ah, I see.
Why would people be angry at Amazon? They don't set the prices.
Well, there was also Xenoblade and the Witcher 2, but I suppose you're right. Great as those games are, they're both kind of niche titles.
I like to think it's because of all the corporate shenanigans going on in the industry right now and this is somehow going to teach them the error of their ways, but it's probably just the absolutely terrible economy in general.
Will I pay $1300 for a leather jacket and a video game? Yes, and I wipe my ass with hundred dollar bills.
...the servers being down.
