Ryu and Ken look like they've been hitting Taco Bell pretty hard there.
I agree about the narratives, but I think it goes even deeper than that. I've been a fan of JRPG's since the olden days, and my favorite games of the genre (and coincidentally usually the ones that are the most lauded in general) are the ones that don't let the genre tropes shackle them down.
Even most recently with Xenoblade; it's a JRPG, it feels like a JRPG in many ways, and yet it's critical and popular acclaim seems to stem from the fact that it's...
There were quite a few glitches for me. Nothing game-breaking, but I had to reload several times from NPC's getting stuck in geometry, quests not activating properly, and even freezing on one occasion.
Also, I know for a fact that the texture pop-in is not NEARLY as bad in the PC version. It was so bad, it kind of reminded me of the original Mass Effect, actually.
I agree with the author, though I think there's room for just about everything in this industry. It's not as if movie or music industry are any different. The big budget releases are always big, dumb, and instantly accessible, while the low budget releases explore the more "artistic" (if you want to call it that) aspects of their given medium.
As a general rule, it's unrealistic to think that games as weird or intellectual as, say, Limbo or Braid would a...
What if he is Samuel L. Jackson?
Korean girl group? No no no no no.
Nnnnnnooooo thank you.
It's not really a matter of whether or not it's art. It is art. Barbie Horse Adventure is technically "art."
But I wholeheartedly agree with number 5; it really doesn't matter one way or the other. Games don't need to conform to any ridiculous categorizations to be culturally and (probably more importantly) personally significant.
....is this a top story because the word "areola" is in the headline?
That's why I tend to like Western RPG's more as well. Even the recent Xenoblade, great as it is, feels like an extension of anime with it's character tropes and heavy, HEAVY use of melodrama.
What does that say about the DoA franchise if it's seemingly unremarkable without it's panty shots and bouncing boobies?
For your information, gamerboobs.com is one of the most well respected gaming sites on the internet today.
How the hell else would we even KNOW that Christie's boobs are going to bounce in the new DOA5 without gamerboobs.com?
7.5 isn't a bad score at all, and I actually think it's justified in this case. There's nothing wrong with the core game or anything.
In fact it's easily one of the best RPG's of the generation, but there's a lot of relatively minor graphical glitches (like the obscene amount of texture pop-in) and control issues (wtf is up with the lag in the 360 version?) that you sort of HAVE to take off points for in a review.
I know. At first I was like "welcome to the times, Nintendo," but then I remembered how much bullshit the first "digital generation" brought with it these past years on the other systems.
Is it just me, or does it looks like that pussy cat is hiding a little something extra in her skivvies than she's letting on...
^Well, the economy AND the video game market:

In general, just about everything is hurting right now.
I guess this is good news for those that pre-ordered. Good that we're getting more content (well, I HOPE it's more content and not just removed from the core content), but I'm not really down with the whole "pre-order exclusive" BS.
It doesn't really matter if the price is worth it or not. I don't think anyone is accusing the price of being unreasonable for what you get. It's just a lot of money to shell out for a handheld gaming device.
It's a premium price tag in a relatively weak market right now.
Over the years, GTAIV is really the only game I've ever considered genuinely "overrated." It was absolutely crazy after it hit. "GTAIV is the best game of all time" was thrown around by more than one site, I'll just say that.
Anyway, terrible list. Not because I disagree with the choices (though I DO disagree with most of the choices), but because it's so poorly written, and there's like....zero justification for any of them.
Japanese games are great. I don't debate their relevancy in the industry, and I agree that Xenoblade is a breath of fresh air into a sub-genre that has seen a decline over the past decade or so. But I absolutely despise this mentality:
"Stinkerbri, the co-owner of WiiWareWave website, personally prefers Japanese games due to their creative story telling, beautiful art design, and their games must be fun approach which many western developers abandon in favor of looki...
