Well, like it has been said before, shareholders re-elected Iwata just two months ago and increased hi approval rating by 3% from the year before. Also, the board members raised their approval of him from the year before.
Making a console more powerful with architectural parity isn't a magic solution to Nintendo's problem. It's not an easy situation for Nintendo when there's a myriad of obstacles with as to contend with.
Games like Uncharted embody everything Nintendo does not like about the direction the industry is going in. It has concerns over diminishing returns and prioritizes gameplay, controls and level design over graphical fidelity, storytelling, cinematics and production values. Nintendo already has a shooter, it';s called Splatoon. It's an unconventional shooting title that defies genre tropes and even the target demographic shooters are made for. That is just the way Nintendo rolls. That&...
This sounds like total bullshit.
Iwata was just re-elected by the board of directors in June with a 3% increase in his performance rating. If the board of directors didn't want him, then they wouldn't have re-elected him let alone allow him to be promoted to the new CEO of Nintendo of America as of last year.
The board of directors includes older members has Shigeru Miyamoto, Genyo Takeda and Tatsuki Kimishima. The former two are well known for emb...
If Wii U can't sell now for $200-300, then why would a GamePadless model sell around for $200 ? Granted, none of the Wii U's cnosole and GamePad hardware features have been effective system-sellers, but to remove them would make Wii U even less capable without off-tv play, miiverse, asymmetric gameplay, and to an extent, multitasking capabilities (unless the OS can be reconfigured for use with the Wii U Pro controller).
It still wouldn't receive strong thi...
The only thing we do know that has been confirmed is the game supports local co-op multiplayer and DLC.
It is doubtful that Nintendo would attempt to charge customers for online play. A large chunk of their customer base are children, so they won't likely feel it would be suitable to charge them to play their titles online. Quite frankly, I think they would alienate some of their veteran fans if they were to charge for online play too. It's something they cannot affo...
Wii U still faces an uphill challenge in Japan. It's barely selling much at all even with major 1ast party releases. Mario Kart 8 has sold well but only as a software seller and not a system-seller. The latter is what Wii U is in serious need of. Mario Kart is one of the top 3 biggest classic IPS in Nintendo's arsenal, so if it can't move Wii U units in any substantial way, then Smash Bros probably will perform somewhat similarly.
As for PS4, apparently 9 weeks ...
If we are talking about HD remastered ports, then yes. If we are talking about a remake/HD remake, then those are more expensive and have longer development cycles. The former is more ideal for Nintendo given how their software schedule suffers from droughts, so HD remastered titles can provide Nintendo with some extra software that they would need to fill in their annual software lineup. Of course, most remastered ports don't sell as well as the original version of the game their based ...
It is true that Nintendo home consoles lean towards younger demographic audience compared to Xbox and PlayStation. However, what do you mean by Wii U games having a "lack of challenge?" Have you not played games such as Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze ? Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate HD ? The Wonderful 101 ? ZombiU ?
What is this nonsense about Wii U offering simple gaming? What does that even mean? The Wonderful 101 is one of the most deceptively deepest action ...
Nintendo is not going to drop the GamePad. For better or for worse, they are committed to it despite their continued struggle to come up with better uses for it in their titles beyond off-TV play and inventory/map displayed displayed on the touchscreen.
"We believe that the GamePad is an integral part of Wii U.During this [E3] week, we're going to be showcasing other ways for utilizing the GamePad, and this has been a priority for Mr. Miyamoto. He, himself, has dedi...
As of March 2014, A Hat in Time is actually not confirmed for Wii U yet because the developer said it wants to first complete development on the PC version. However, it has been talking with Nintendo and the developer is optimistic about the game's chances of coming to Wii U later on.
The developer said it is also open to putting the title on PS4 and Xbox One, but it won't be anytime soon because they'll want to finish the PC version and won't make any announ...
It's nice to see Wii U get a sales bump, but Mario Kart 8 has shown it can't save Wii U. Not with sales figures like that. On the bright side, this underrated console has a growing list of great exclusives, so its only going to continue to interest me for the rest of this year and into 2015 as well.
Quite frankly, I'm most excited for Bayonetta 2, Smash Bros and even Capt. Toad Treasure Tracker.
As for PS4, I think Sony hasn't done a good...
I sure do hope Nintendo polishes Splatoon and gives it an adequate amount of gameplay modes and levels so it doesn't end up being a half-baked, inventive shooter.
Yeah, it's not a logical article.
What Namco and Slighty Mad Studios really mean is that their treating Wii U as a lower priority for the following reasons:
- Low install base
- Very sluggish install base growth
- Poor third party sales track record
- More convenient to port from PC to Xbox One and PS4 due to using the same engine with architectural parity
- PS4, Xbox One and PC having larger install bases
- Xbox 360 and PS3 having larger install bases
- The l...
While some people may not feel that enthusiastic about Sony and Microsoft dedicating a good amount of time to third party E3 coverage during each of their respective conferences, it is obviously within the plaform holder's best interest to help promote third party software at big industry events such as E3. It's a mutual relationship between platform holder and third party publisher, so they both need one another to be successful in this industry. With that said, I was personally an...
People need to stop asking for this dream project. In my opinion, it sounds better on paper than what Nintendo and Game Freak can do with it.
It's a real shame Mario Kart had such little impact on boosting Wii U sales in Japan. To make matters worse, the overall home console market there has really spiraled down in that region. With only recently obtaining 1.8 million Wii U units sold in Japan, Nintendo's getting no where fast with the growth of its platform's install base, and it sure cannot rely on just North America to pick up the slack and Europe's essentially a lost cause for them
Oh well, a...
I can agree with you that every company has some level of arrogance to them. For example, Nintendo's is well documented, particularly when it was the dominant platform holder back in the day. Nintendo was a pretty two-faced company (to us, they were a family friendly video game platform holder, but to third parties, they were vicious and strict which ended up hurting them particularly when PlayStation came out. Nintendo tried to recover a bit with the GameCube, but it wasn't enough an...
It's always funny when people blame Nintendo for things its not guilty of. The decsion to include content like online modes/features is left up to Tecmo Koie. Nintendo doesn't generally enforce mandatory content. For example, ever wonder hy not all Wii U games support off-TV play, online co-op and Miiverse integrated features ? What about Streetpass for 3DS? It's all for the same reason.
In any case, Bayonetta 2 has online co-op, Devil's Third and Smash Br...
