I guess they'll have to count me out since Halo sucks.
In terms of storyline it is not a fictitious world like most games today, it is set on earth. It is also not set on the future like most FPS games. It is also not a world war shooter. If he wants to play something original then he should play Little Big Planet and Mirror's Edge because those are probably the only original experiences this generation, especially LBP.
I don't recall ever playing 8-player co-op in any other game before especially online and with experience points...
Gears' might be an excellent game, but the storyline sucks. This guy must be a teenager to fall in love with such a cliched storyline. I don't really identify with the world presented by Epic, much less with the Space Marines that look like tough rednecks.

Yeah, because everyone knows how metacritic (the average of corporate sponsored websites) AND sales determine the quality of a game, and not your own preferences. I guess we all have to bow to the almighty Halo franchise even if we don't like it because well... we HAVE to like it because meta, sales and fanboys said so!
I played it on the Gamecube, there's no reason to buy a Wii for Zelda if you had a gamecube. Hell the gamecube version is better anyway! The controls weren't tacked on last-minute before the gamecube launched unlike for the Wii.

If they don't give White Knight Chronicles (a game with better graphics, gameplay, online MMO style co-op and an original storyline, by the looks of it) a better score, because this game Last Remnant is filled with glitches, last-gen gameplay and a generic storyline.
Most of them don't own an iPhone, and probably don't have jobs. I do agree that the PSP and DS have more games as of now, but frankly I use my iPhone more for gaming, and the main reason is because I have it with me all the time. I've been playing Spore and The Force Unleashed lately, and it's pretty good.

A lot of gamers are waiting for Killer Instinct 360, but with Banjo, Viva Piñata, Kameo and Perfect Dark Zero, not to mention that port of Conker and the Mii rip-offs... man, Rare sucks big time. It's not like Free Radical or Factor 5 which have a single dud under their record, it's tons and tons of flops. Even their last game on gamecube, StarFox adventures, was horrendous.

Gears of War 2 raised the bar for the Gears of War franchise but not the way other franchises did. It's not a revolution, and not even evolution. It's "Microevolution" for lack of a better term.
Also, the Wii is a novelty. When Okami came out on PS2, next-gen was imminent and PS2 was getting old and plagued by piracy. I'm glad this game is selling the way it deserves.
That doesn't mean everyone does, maybe they just suck at the game.
