I've never seen a game that innovated so little and pushed no boundaries at all and yet got so many perfect scores. That is, until Gears of War 2 came out. Which is ironic considering there are other titles that did innovate and did push boundaries and innovated and didn't get rated so good. How odd...
I own a 360, PS3 and a Wii but this holiday season with such a sh1tty economy I agreed with a friend of mine for him to buy as many 360 titles as he can and I would as many PS3 titles as I could because he doesn't have a PS3.
We're gonna do a Gears of War 1 & 2 marathon in co-op. After all, each game is like 5 hours each ;)
Edge, Eurogamer and Gamespot are getting their ammunition ready to destroy the masterpiece that is Resistance 2 in order to get their Microchecks cashed. R2 might just end up getting a worse score than the first resistance since Game Informer, 1up and Gamepro gave R2 a worse score than the first one (LOL can you believe that?) even though there are very few games as ambitious as this one this generation, and those games don't include Halo or Gears. Think fallout, oblivion, bioshock, Metal Gea...
But if you care about review scores, then yeah, I guess Gears 2 has better scores. To me the better one is the one with more features and content on it, but I guess "others" would rather play a game just because it has high reviews, even though it might not even appeal to them.
And yes, it needed that amount of change to become a 9.5 game, not an 8.9 which is barely better than the 8.6 the first got in Metacritic. Not like it matters since evidently review scores are bullsh1t and what matters is the actual reviews anyway.

Gears 2 is a minor improvement over the last Gears. Resistance 2 is a huge improvement over the last resistance and it's doing a lot of things that haven't been done on any other game or console, and anyone who played the beta knows it's very well implemented.
If Microsoft is willing to pay 50 million dollars for DLC, I don't doubt they're willing to pay a few dozens of thousands of dollars for each review score from a "well reputed" magazine that favors them and that...

Only Little Big Planet deserves a 10 this generation. Everything else is mostly last-gen games with lots polish, especially Gears of War. Or hell, other games are simply last gen, like Halo 3. Reviewers care more about ad dollars than their own integrity, especially ever since Microsoft entered the industry.
Get a PS3, at least it works.

Fanboys take as an objective fact the average of subjective opinions, especially Xbox fanboys (but not exclusively). Xbox fanboys will take Metacritic's score as gospel if it favors Gears 2 over Resistance 2, even though it's a fact that Resistance 2 has more features. I'm not saying "it's better because I like it more", I'm saying it's better because it has more features and content, and that's an objective way to look at it.

They are different games, and by that I mean that Resistance has much bigger levels and many many more enemies on screen. Gears of War is all about few enemies, closed spaces and a lot of close up detail, but even then it's not perfect. Rhe water effects in resistance are much better. Had Sony not made these kinds of mistakes the PS3 would be in an even better position. Imagine if PS3 was the only place where you could get all movies, music and music videos from all companies and on 360 everything except Sony's? That would suck for Microsoft and its fanboys but for videophiles the Ps3 would be the only choice.

What the hell does "AAA blockbuster" mean anyway? I mean, its storyline is your typical Sci-Fi action movie with some drama elements and some inspiration in the Alien series and the Time Machine book by H.G. Wells. To me storyline is important and I just don't buy Gears' storyline.
Its campaign is said to be short anyway, so why buy it when I can buy Fable 2 or LBP and get much more playtime. I like playing co-op with lots of people against the computer, but Resistan...
