Yeah, Rare probably has their tissue boxes filled with $20 bills, and every time they tear up, they pull one out of the box, and wipe their tears away with it, crumple it up and throw it away.

Naw here in NA the channel has been so over stuffed with PS3's that there will probably be enough inventory to last the rest of the year.

No it would be disrespectful to say something like...

BOOM! HEADSHOT! XBOX WINS BY DEFAULT!

But Im not saying that, because it is probably a good thing (for gamers) that at least one game company didn't locate all of thier manufacturing resources in areas affected by the earthquake, tsunami, and nuclear meltdown.

The industry has a simple solution that they are ignoring. Give us day one dowloads, for a price that people will pay and the whole second hand market will dry up.

But as it is... Will I download Halo Reach this week because MS has reduced the price to $50. Hell No. I would have bought it day one if it was downloadable for $30 though.

Women. I thought your dad was supposed to explain the birds and bees to ya.

My message to the game industry would be... Give us day one non-transferable downloads at $20-$30 a pop and the used game market dries up and goes away.

But for me, I am finished paying $60 for games, not when I can get them in a couple of months for half that.

Wow really... I went to the store intending to buy an iPad last week, after listening to all the hype, and thinking that it would somehow be far and away better than what I remembered about my iPhone experience. After playing with the iPad for about an hour, I decided against getting it because it still really is just a big iPhone, and is no way a replacement for a real computer. When I web browse I still want a keyboard.

Also, the whole touch screen thing... I just can...

Dark_King,

Incorrect. The xbox xenon processor has dynamic tesselation technology. The 250 million tesselated surfaces it can do per second is enough to teselate a polygon for every pixel on the screen at 60fps, at 1080p resolution. If you would take to time to look into how tesselation is done, you would see that this capability is more than adequate for a game engine to be designed that works entirely on tesselation...

Incorrect. Tesselation will reduce the memory foot prints of models, because you no longer need different levels of detail in the models. Also, as previously stated, you can get rid of texture maps, normal maps, and light maps, which are all stored in different levels of detail. Surface characteristics become stored in "materials" which will be several orders of power smaller than the traditional series of detail maps that current techniques use. Also, none of this precludes the...

Well if the reports are true about XBox's tesselation technology that has been locked up until now, the xbox has another five years of being the dominant console.

Once you get into the crazy high number of polygons on screen at any given time, you stop using pixel shaders, and use vertex shaders exclusively. This allows for the xbox to bypass all the existing limits of lighting models, which by their nature are aproximations. Once models become point clouds, radiocity...

OpenGL at this point has pretty much the same draw api as directX... Load a vertex structure, assign a shader, and render.

Nowdays all the work happens in the shaders.

5564d ago 3 agree0 disagreeView comment

I think this article is bogus. The only thing that the directx draw api does is load a vertex structure, assign a shader and render. It couldn't be more simple or direct. The HLSL gives you raw and direct access to the hardware.

The reason none of the developers are writing software for the new video cards is two fold. First PC gamers want to use their fillrate for high resolution, and second the mass market is currently filled with Number+m, aka mobile, GPU's, ...

Wow, if i get in a game and people are not chatting coherently I split and find a different game. Also chatting helps weed out the kids, because you get on a game and realize one of your team mate is a 9 year old, and you vote kick him straigt away.
