Actually, NPR was covering it today... Consumers are finally tiring of smart phones, and the smart phone market is cooling off. It seems consumers are getting tired of expensive phones with expensive data plans, and the whole texting and facebook while on the go thing was just a fad.

How do you figure??? a 50% bump in cpu is not that much really, and CPU and GPU power progress exponentially(roughly double every 18 months). I mean 50% isn't even 2x as powerful...
If you want to double the resolution, you need four times as much fill rate (because there are four times as many pixels... sigh) to accomplish that.
This will allow the WiiU to get the same games that the PS3 and Xbox get with out forcing the developers to super optimize ...

Don't hold your breath on a next gen xbox or playstation just yet. I don't think those two consoles are gonna get an update for another 3-4 years.
Also, I think we are gonna see a transitional generation this time because the way the cpu's are now designed... The cpu/gpu's can now be upgraded significantly (just add more cores...) without breaking back compat, so on the xbox at least, I think we will see an xbox 360 plus or whatever, and games will have full...

I think it is obvious... If it was gonna have a chip that beat the pants off of the xbox and ps3 with graphics then they would have said that during the keynote, and provided bull shots of their targets.
This will be priced to compete with the ps3 and xbox and still be profitable from day one... I am sure it is basically the same chip (unified cpu/gpu) that the xbox has in it, but it has been tweaked for Nintendo.
