Wenis,
Did you watch the video at all? He is freely moving around. This is not on rails....
You forgot to mention that you have never used a Kinect so you have no clue what you are talking about, so we should ignore everything you say about Kinect...
Ok, in that case putting custom firmware in the xbox dvd drive so you can run "backups" is not hacking, and the xbox hasn't been hacked either.
And if you bother to click on the xbox live rewards program you get a free game every other month or so...
That about sums up n4g...
Obviously there is some technical hurdle, and the PS3 is simply unable to do this. I think it is the meager two general purpose cpu threads that the console offers are not enough to keep the games rolling along and decode multiple audio streams...
I mean that would also explain why everyone encodes their cut scenes in bink video rather than h.264...
The ps3 simply is architected incorrectly to do these sorts of things while a game is playing...
Kinect is going to be even huger this xmas than it was last xmas, that much is clear.
The number of people being critical of it who obviously have ~never even tried it~ is also telling about the strength of Kinect.
Also, the absolute silence about the xbox as a stand alone media center is telling as well.
But having said that, welcome to the one bubble ghetto here on n4g, such opinions and observations of obvious duplicity are not tolerated h...
I think I might buy this game day one just because of the association with Kirsten Dunst, even though she probably has nothing to do with the game.
But I was thinking about it this morning...
What is the plural of Vita? Vittles. ROFL.
While voice recognition tech has been available for years, Kinect is the first time I have seen with work without a headset mic, and work pretty much flawlessly at that...
I mean, you can be watching a movie, with all the movie sounds in the background, and shout out "xbox pause" and it picks it up in all the background sound.
Like it or not, that is a new innovation.
Big x-mas sales.
I bet Sony retreats on the name and the name gets changed before launch.
Stop the presses!!! Kids like toys! Microsoft released a popular toy and now kids want it!!! The horror!
My one anecdote, my 10 year old ~hates~ Justin Bieber, he talks about him like you guys talk about the xbox... And he has been bugging me to show me the Kinect buddies, and Kinect googlyeyes things he has made since Monday evening. Like every 15 minutes... He comes in here to my room and says "come look at this!"
For the record, he has bee...
RAGE! RAGE! RAGE!
Looks like it is completely optional, and will have no impact on the game, so why all the hate?
No, if it was gonna be significantly more powerful than the ps360 they would have said "the wiiu will be significanty more powerful than the ps360" then they would have provided the bull shots to prove it...
Soooo.... If they can do cross game chat on this, then there is something wrong with the PS3 that prevents Sony from doing cross game chat on that...
That is the main problem with OnLive... You can go buy a computer for $500-$600 nowadays that can play ~most~ modern games, making the service superfluous. And you still have to buy the games...
But Im with Carmack on this... Someday it will be in interesting value proposition. But not today.
I think the idea here is... Kids spend all their time looking at some little screen that they are carrying around in their hands... Be it a DS, iPhone, or whatever. Therefore kids will want to spend their tv time staring at their hands... Er um, or something like that.
I don't get it, but I was wrong about peoples desire to waggle their wii's as well. And I still really don't get all the fuss about Super Smash Bros Brawl, or Super Mario Galaxy either...
Get a game creation suite... Making all those other game mechanics is actually quite hard, while add a gun, and some target, and trivially simple ai, and you have a almost compelling shooter... Spend a couple million on art, and you have a aaa release. Show it around get investors, release and retire.
Really??? You remember what games you were playing 10 years ago? I fired up Halo ce the other month, and I was like... I don't remember any of this at all...
Maybe I am getting old, and my mind is starting to dump useless memories. The fondness of Halo ce is stronger in me than any actual memories of the game.
No worries though, I do that with most games.
It is not that 3d gaming is "way to high" for me, it is that I simply do not want 3d because 3d is a gimmick and is already fading, and except for a couple of movies with learning to fly sequences 3d never did anything for me.
Go look at your local movie theater this summer... Not every movie has a 3d version anymore, and there are way more theaters playing the non 3d version.
3d tv is DOA. Nobody wants it. Same goes for gaming.
