Good thing we got that cleared up. Here I was spending my time last weekend just enjoying the tech test. Glad others are able to devote the time to such an important cause.

The overly naive corporate cheerleaders annoy me (and they exist for all systems), but being optimistic about something they like doesn't bother me at all.

The problem I see is that many of those "haters" devote a whole lot of time, not in discussing why they enjoy a product, but making sure people know that they DON'T like that thing enjoyed by others.

That's stupid to me. Anyone who has followed gaming long enough knows that there ...

My state has legalized those video lottery machines with slots, poker, keno, etc. that you find in the bars here. There are licensing and tax requirements, but it's easy to get.

Regulating and taxing gambling is better than banning it in my view. We don't need our government holding our hands all the time.

I rarely buy anything on release. Between retail discounts, digital sales, used game deals from my local shops, and now subs, $60 day one purchases are rare for me.

I still try to lean toward physical for games I will want in the collection 20 years from now. Mid tier stuff is just whatever is the best deal.

The argument being made is that "Next gen" games could be played on last gen hardware via cloud streaming.

When Sony first announced Now, some vague promises of instant access to PS4 titles were made, but they dialed that back quite a bit in the end.

Moving to next gen presents an interesting change. If Now or xCloud give PS4 and X1 owners access to next gen titles through streaming without needing new hardware, it will be very interesting.

I would agree with a lot of that, except for the short-term conclusion. It's kind of the opposite.

Obviously they know that a reduction in consoles means a reduction in royalties from software sold on Xbox. Yet, they've made a series of moves that obviously reduce the demand on the console. We joke about these guys a lot, but a trillion dollar company is readily aware of the situation.

If it were short-term returns that they were after, they would...

I think he recognizes that exclusivity isn't what it used to be. I took his point to be focused more on the benefits of exclusivity at launch more so than later on. I tend to agree with that line of thinking myself. I would be shocked if MS and Sony weren't planning a bunch of timed and out right exclusive 3rd party deals for at least the 1st year or two of next gen.

I don't know if anyone will try to copy Nintendo either. They might try to push streaming on mo...

Did you read the article? Yes, by their logic PS2 and PSP fans were left behind, too. This critique has nothing to do with platforms.

It's obvious that the author followed MH on all consoles and portables. These criticisms have been voiced by others that similarly find World to be too forgiving in its quest to become more mainstream.

I'm personally about 50/50 on the changes. The challenge is obviously reduced, but they managed to make a lot of th...

I don't think his comment was bait. People don't care about your personal choices. If you want to make a critique, make a critique. When you come out and say: I bought Product X, but later sold it -- my reaction is the same as OP's.

Plenty of people do not like Nintendo's offerings. I'm not sure how anyone with even the slightest background in games could not know exactly what to expect from the Switch, but there's definitely things to critique abo...

I enjoy PS, Switch, and XB this gen. Ultimately disappointed by Wii U and Vita though.

Crackdown 3 was pretty rough. 2017-2018 was bad for Xbox in general.

So with that said, I don't give two shits what is selling better when deciding what's a good deal for me. Strange that you do.

If you have to pick up something at the grocery store, do you do a market analysis of what's selling better first? Seems like a waste of time, b...

@Godsmar

I'm not sure what to tell you about streaming. I guess that's a reason not to get PS Now, but there's plenty of SP games on Now, too.

Plenty of SP games on GP, too. MP is enjoyed by 10's of millions of gamers on PS, XB, PC, etc. I'm sure you understand why it's important to provide games for those players, too.

I played SotTR and the Metro trilogy last month on GP. Good SP games.

So......

"Personally I don't see any impact on XbOne sales so whether or not is a good deal, who cares about it."

I care more about getting a deal on something than I do about sales #s. I find it odd that you would care more about sales.

"You're trying too hard as if they are paying you for these puff pieces."

The irony....

No matter where you come out on the subjective comparisons, Ultimate is a really good deal (especially with the latest discount). Combining GP, Live, and PC GP into one gives a whole lot of value.

Once Sony dropped Vita, I let my + sub lapse. If they combined it with Now, maybe I'd sign back up, but for me, it's just not worth i...

Yeah, don't plan to do that. Also don't care if anyone beat it with or without mods. Not sure why anyone would.

"How can you say you beat a game when you didn't do it how the developers intended it? At least once."

Why should I care what others do with a game?

I'd get another dock for a different TV in my house if they weren't stupidly overpriced.

Amazon offers pre-order discounts on many games. It used to be a more formal policy, but I think now it's usually more selective.

In much of the EU, the Empire was always presented as very anti-nonhumans. They enslaved and oppressed entire planets, had xenophobic leaders, and all sorts of interesting stuff that would be FAR more interesting to explore than what we actually see today.

That's something that may or may not have been retconned with the new canon though.

I got a better idea than that: everyone should agree to use that argument consistently. So no complaining from anyone. Ever.

Think EA completely F***ed up Battlefront? Let the developers make their vision and everybody suck it up and deal!

Think EA and others use too many exploitive MTs and shoddy monetization in their games? Let the developers make their vision and everybody suck it up and deal!

Too extreme? How about in a better conte...
