We went from MAUs being a meaningless metric, to now crying that they're hiding useful information by not reporting MAUs. Interesting times...
People sure do seem concerned about how poor trillion-dollar MS makes its money.
@rainslacker
I believe Gearbox is privately owned, so I think those Investor reports are staying on Randy's thumbdrive.
I don't doubt that the concurrent player count is higher than Borderlands 2 like he said, but I also fully expected he would go out of his way to make this EGS deal seem great no matter what after all of his "bitch and whine" comments.
In reality, we'll never know if it was a mistake because we do...
Agreed. I saw no reason to upgrade my base PS4, but I did finally jump at the X when they had those really good trade in deals when RDR2 hit. I'm happy with my choices.
If you waited this long to get either system, you should just grab a cheaper PS4 slim model, or wait til next gen altogether imo.
You cannot call it "patently false" without knowing the actual terms of the contract. Some grant the publishers the publishing rights in perpetuity, some are timed, and some are even sold back to the dev eventually (Alan Wake).
And no, just calling it the "definitive version" wouldn't circumvent the agreement. Believe it or not, these companies actually pay attorneys to write these agreements, and they would provide for that little loophole.
Some sites are subtle in their clickbait. Then there's this ccn site. Part of me appreciates the unabashed approach. I'm guessing it'll be successful in getting those clicks too.
But, no, Gears is doing what it was meant to do-- nothing more. It's a great game that reminds fans of what Xbox games should be: Strong SP, strong MP, and solid graphics. In other words, it's Gears.
Coming this late in the generation, it serves as a nice pr...
NPD tracks by money made, not unit sales. If GTA is charting when it's selling for less than $20, it's all the more impressive.
@zodiac
Product placement warrants a "meh" at best. I'm not sure I've ever seen it referred to as "awesome."
Personally, Monster usually gives me the shits. Here's hoping Kojima dials back the realism on that one...
Illegal?
How would that work exactly?
I'm not too concerned with digital/physical issue.
I am a bit concerned if Gamestop is saying things like "thrive" while shutting down 200 stores and seeing 400 million in quarterly losses.
When you lay out the games, Nintendo is probably the most diverse in terms of gameplay genres. It gets undercut from critics, but their lineup consistently ticks every box. Many have the Nintendo aesthetic, or even just Mario in it, but damn if they don't have competent entries in almost every genre with fundamental gameplay that is as solid as can be.
Think of the genres covered by Mario, Zelda, Smash, Kart, and Pokemon. Then also consider Metroid Prime, Animal Crossin...
My money is on camera difficulties in the tightened spaces.
I think it identifies as a console, but I'd need to check its preferred pronouns to be sure.
Sony doesn't own the gaming rights.
Sony was granted a license to use Spiderman in game form. Same as Activision before them, and same as Marvel Ultimate Alliance on Switch was provided the same.
Except Nintendo and Sony don't have a vested interest in PC. MS does. So I get why the closed garden is so important to Sony and Nintendo.
I would love for all 3 to go PC & Console, but MS is the only one who can really benefit from it.
Sony looks to be ready to start to dabble in it, but Nintendo is a long way off from expanding beyond mobile. But the biggest takeaway, even though they don't have the same stake in the non-console space as MS...
Why is it such a struggle to all agree that we know damn well what people are talking about when we hear "exclusive." We get it. Their games are on PC. It's quite nice, and it's smart. It doesn't change the premise of the actual article, either.
They're perfectly happy with you using their OS and buying their games there. You're in the ecosystem. The odds are in their favor that they get to monetize you somehow in the future. At the end of the ...
Ratchet and Clank tried it, and failed pretty hard.
I'm not really interested in watching a live action retelling of Gears. If they do what Rod asked - make a good movie that happens to be a Gears movie - then it might have a chance at actually being decent.
And going beat for beat with the games is a better idea?
Yet your entire presupposition requires us to believe all claims made within the fake reality of social media. That's a mistake for everyone.
I also have to say that Twitter is not where our moral and legal compass is set, and most importantly, it is not a true reflection of social order. Too many of those participating in that false reality aren't true stakeholders in the actual reality that exists beneath it.
Casting judgment from the safety...
I would sure hope so. With the amount of $$ MS has dumped into Gamepass, with all of that advertising, and with all of those introductory deals, it'd be a major fail if a game like Gears didn't attract millions to sub.
If you're on PC, I don't know why you'd spend $60 on a digital version over just using GP or even the MS store where it can be used as a Play Anywhere game.
I plan to buy a physical console version next year for the coll...
