I think they'd be crazy not to keep all things Minecraft multi plat. Lets be realistic, they know that Minecraft dungeons isn't going to sell Xbox consoles.

It will help to continue to grow the brand, though. That property is too big to limit at this point imo.

You're not the first person I've seen say this. I thought about going back through to get the platinum, but decided that it would probably take away from my initial experience.

I thoroughly enjoyed my playthrough for what it was, and don't want to ruin it by looking behind the curtain too much.

I wouldn't hate it, but I think they'd do better with Spiderman 2, a new Ratchet, and maybe a new Resistance first. By the time those hit, they'll probably be 10+ years past SO's original release.

Maybe then it'll be a good idea, but then I'd prefer ANOTHER Spiderman and Ratchet game after that myself...

I think 343 should have a second team. Definitely. COG too. Keep those franchises fresh while letting your younger creatives take a stab at something new in between releases.

I also think that they've probably got over 100 people there who are absolutely committed to this franchise. If you go to work for 343 and aren't committed to Halo, maybe you should start looking elsewhere...

This article is the definition of fearmongering though. "Ther...

I believe most are made in Singapore where some decent climate change initiatives are in place.

So, yeah. I'm guessing there was a minimal cost to hit this new goal from MS.

Something must be going on, because I just saw this from Sony:

Check out Greedfall yet? Looks right up that same alley.

Obsidian seems hell bent on taking on Bethesda, and I love it. Sounds like they'll have their Fallout competitor with Outer Worlds along with an Elder Scrolls competitor.

@Welshy

The walled garden of the console ecosystem has been very important to gaming. Your take on it is more of a "spin" fed to consumers, though.

3rd party is able to deliver across multiple platforms every day. Consoles today are, at best, mid range PCs with very little differences between PC, PS4, and Xbox. I'm not concerned with devs' ability to craft quality games just because they are on PC too, or if they lose out on royalties f...

@Godsmar

You mean like Cuphead, which is in the thumbnail here?

Pretty safe bet that MS had some say in allowing the publishing of Ori and Cuphead on Switch. It's good for me, a gamer, because I already repurchased Cuphead for on-the-go on Switch, and will probably do the same with Ori. Good for those devs, too. Double the sales from me.

WTF does "authentic" refer to? Because they didn't buy out the publishing rights ...

What about those of us who don't care about the reasons for their changes or a trillion-dollar corporation's profit margins?

Let them get embarrassed. I'm reaping the benefits of their missteps. Even after getting kicked in the mouth this gen, they've still made impressive revenue. Hell, Xbox somehow posted higher revenue than all of Nintendo last year. Their "survival" really shouldn't be a concern for even the most diehard of fans or critics...

How is it bad for gamers?

2318d ago 12 agree4 disagreeView comment

Haha, yeah I think that's a given.

Oh I read that nonsense. Walled garden should be preserved because Sony gets sales based entirely on gamers not wanting to be excluded from playing 3rd party games with those on their platforms.

That's stupid. Their openness to PC and games like Fortnite show that it was all just fearmongering from fanboys. Sony continues to make bank, and will do so in the future when more and more games become crossplay.

2320d ago 4 agree7 disagreeView comment

Yeah, no shit. It's almost like you can expect to see bad games equally on store shelves, digital storefronts, and subscription services.

"don't fool yourself by thinking it's good for the industry"

Lol. These are 3rd party games that are still being sold on PS consoles, still charging those MTs, still making Sony that 30% cut, and still making Sony money on PS+.

They'll be fine if we can play against players on other platforms.

Agreed. We know they were already boasting about having millions of GP subs before Gears even launched, so of course those introductory offers already got their install base high. Gears probably led to a boost, but I wouldn't think the majority signed up just now either.

They got my sub when FH4 hit. They've managed to keep me subbed my doing a good job of regularly adding to the service. That's been the real test. So far, they've don...

We see plenty of garbage being sold for $60. Saw plenty of it last gen, too.

2321d ago 10 agree18 disagreeView comment

MS didn't introduce MAUs of course, but they seemed to think XBL engagement translated to something investors would care about. In principle I get it, but as others pointed out, it didn't mean too much. Honestly, those numbers were good even if they meant jack shit, so it's funny that they chose to drop those.

I haven't owned MS stock in many years, so I think I speak for most gamers when I say that we didn't care how many 360s they sold when they woul...

To be fair, I'm not planning to pay $60 for part 1 of FF7.

I won't have a choice with LA, but as a gameboy remake, I think it should be in that Crash, Spyro, CTR, Ratchet, etc. price point of $39.99.
