To recoup the development cost every dreamcast owner would have to buy the game twice. It was a great game because it cost so much sega had no chance to make any of it back. I'm the fanboy and you go wild because I suggest a good video game is a horrible mistake in business terms?
You're a fucking cretin. Learn to ask for clarification instead of assuming. If you don't know when, assume you don't understand something. That's probably the case.

I expected Shenmue somewhere on there. Sega may have been a lost cause already but it still was moronic.
Capcom has about 3 good wii games, one of which is a port from last gen. If they keep making crap for the wii don't blame nintendo if they don't sell.
Capcom moved MH3 to the wii cause ps3 development cost too much, the wii gets games that they don't wanna pay for with HD development. That's "AAA" effort for the wii right there. Titles they wanna cut costs with. Even then capcom has nintendo publishing MH3 and they still aren't investing as m...
The touchscreen that defines Apple's current success was originally used in portable electronic devices by Nintendo years before Apple adopted it. The same holds for accelerometers used in the wiimote and iphone. ATI does the nintendo GPU and IBM makes the CPU. They are capable of developing insane hardware.
Microsoft was the most valuable company period when they released the xbox and the 360. They lost to Sony then Nintendo. Apple's value is no guarantee they c...
I see them all in Toys R' US.
Maybe you forgot that Nintendo saved the video game industry in the 80s and lead it through the SNES era. That was about 20 years before they came back from last place with the wii to rival their initial success. A lot of us wii gamers are in our mid-20s and grew up on NES and SNES but stopped until the wii. NSMB wii was marketed towards young adults who stopped playing video games years ago.
You don't seem to have bee...
"Who has the higher market capitalization? (apple)"
You are comparing the market capitalization of a computer, music, and multimedia company to a strict video game company that happens to own the Mariners. Since arguing theory will lose people I'll stick with an example.
MS had a higher market cap than Sony during the ps2 era for the same reasons and it meant nothing for xbox sales. MS has fingers in many pies and market cap measures all of th...
I checked after the disagrees and saw I'm wrong, Carmack thinks the cell and other asymmetric architectures with 7 SPUs and in order execution cores are easy to program. Here's some uninformed fanboys.
Carmack:
“It’s not like the PlayStation 3 is a piece of junk or anything … they just took a design decision that wasn’t the best from a development standpoint.”
"'the PS3 has more peak performance on there and that’s what Sony...
He told some employees to regard the battle as over with Sony and focus on Apple. It's subtle but you can sense he was tired of hearing about the ps3 when they have a good sense how Sony thinks (add more power, add better tech, cutting edge graphics, etcetc). He knows Apple is the wildcard and is telling his employees to focus on them and anticipate Apple disrupting the DS/wii.
If everyone gets in the mobile web through Apple millions of people already have access to a ...
You are playing with semantics in an area Apple has entered before. From wikipedia:
"The Pippin...was a multimedia platform designed by Apple Inc...The goal was to create an inexpensive computer aimed mostly at playing CD-based ***multimedia titles, especially games***, but also functioning as a network computer. It featured a 4× CD-ROM drive and a video output that could connect to a standard television display."
This is an engadget post linking to an endgadget post that misstates an article. All he is saying is that Apple is the bigger threat. Don't focus on Sony - "regard" the battle as won. From the original:
"Satoru Iwata, the Nintendo president, is understood to have told his senior executives recently to *regard* the battle with Sony as a victory already won and to treat Apple, and its iPhone and iPad devices, as the “enemy of the future.”"

You should really read about Carmack and his opinion of the ps3. He admits it's obviously much faster than xbox but you want this game on a top of the line PC if you have it.
He thinks can do a lot with the ps3 but he does not enjoy the bottlenecked RAM/fragmenting of the code required for the SPUs and the difficulty in developing for the system as a whole. You aren't gonna be seeing him spend the time it takes to get the ps3 version nailed.

COD and Quake wars run on modified quake engines. It may have been 10 years since they made something top class but it says a lot that their tech is still being used.
Though GAM3R7l pointed out a lot of ID influences, note that Team Fortress 2 is a sequel to a quake mod.
"All Age Gaming's Michael Brennan discusses whether we are entering a time in gaming where a game has to feature a great story for it to truly grab the gamer."
The top selling games this gen are NSMB, wii fit, and wii sports/wii sports resort. So it doesn't seem that way.
If video games had good stories maybe they'd be right. ME/ME2 are incredible and games like Fallout 2 still impress. But they happen once or twice a generation. <...
Dude don't joke about that. People get stabbed over playstations.
"Move mom you're making me die!"
I don't get leaving out the NES or ps1. The NES saved the industry after atari. The ps1 was the beginning of the console as media computer. It said "Sony Computer Entertainment" when it booted for a reason. Before xbox sony execs predicted MS would be their top future competitor when they realized the threat the console as media computer model posted to Windows.
NES (saved gaming)
PS1 (changed gaming to a pc model)
PS2 (top ...
My gf got a dreamcast recently and I am wowed by it. There's a modem and visual memory cards on the controller that show sports plays for football games without tipping off the other player.
Ever hear of typing of the dead? It's HOTD2 with typing speed games for DC. The game is hilarious, bizarre, and a major creative risk. I have no idea who disagreed with you but the Dreamcast was innovative. It may belong on this list simply for getting Sega out of hardware....
"Think about it the PS3 was the first closed platform PC i.e. Linux OPERATING SYSTEM."
The dreamcast and PS2 can run linux. So can the GC and wii. They're all computers. Your distinction is conceptual and not present in the actual hardware.
"U.S. Federal agents are using the PS3 to capture criminals like pedophiles and such."
This is because they sell the ps3 for a loss to make up for later on games. You can go buy...
Quit pretending you can quantify fun. People can't even agree on numbers rating physical appearance.
If someone gives a JRPG a 10 I still know I don't wanna play it. People can bash on Lair all they want, it is one of my favorite games. You're steering a dragon using the controller as reins - that's the coolest shit ever. When I heard that I knew I'd love the game.
"If your supporting used game buyers, the same people who themselves are nickle and diming every last penny they have trying to save money buying cheaper, used games."
That's what consumers do...hope you're driving a new car if you wanna make this argument.
Games that hold value aren't traded in. People still play Mario 3 on their original cartridge. If they had integrated ME1 into ME2 better they would have given people a reason to k...
