How do you disqualify Call of Duty or Resident Evil for selling on name alone? The people who buy these games are very aware that they're shooters so it still shows there's a fan base. And both Call of Duty 3 and WaW were million plus sellers. So I guess people liked one enough to buy the other. Red Steel was a million plus FPS game with no name recognition that was also pretty terrible. Man, House of the Dead 2 and 3 Return even broke a million.

Total percentage of users do...

The majority of the big Xbox360 and PS3 games are available on PC with better graphics and controls and in the case of the 360 free multiplayer, so you can still play most HD console blockbusters in better quality with only a gaming PC. In addition gaming PCs get access to a large number of games unreleased on any console (Dawn of War 2, Crysis, Battlefield, Command and Conquer 4, Neverwinter Nights, Quake Wars, Civ IV, any MMORPG, etcetcetc...) You don't get access to that many new games b...

Sin and Punishment 2 is a shooting game being made by Nintendo. We're all excited for it. I believe it's being released later this year and has been in development for some time. The original was an exclusive Japanese release for n64 that through popular demand was released in the US over the virtual console.

"Two out of these three games being on rails shooters shows that the company is simply out of touch with what the older proportion of its fanbase are all about."

The rail shooter RE: Umbrella Chronicles sold 1mil+. And one of those games Edge mentioned was RE: Darkside Chronicles, which is a sequel to Umbrella Chronicles earned through those sales. House of the Dead 2 and 3 sold over 1mil according to vgchartz. That's why we got HOTD: Overkill, which Sega said alread...

Thanks man, you clearly know your programming and it's good to find someone who can point me in the right direction. I gotta do some errands, but I work all day monitoring a student computer lab and so I'll respond from there tomorrow. A perfect job for the summer between schooling ;)

The game I wanted to make isn't like a typical thing, more a hilarious little social app that Nintendo would never ever let me release. It almost has to be homebrew and so I'm looking up devkitpr...

Don't forget Ghost Squad! I had never heard of the game before I got my wii but it reminds me a lot of Time Crisis. It's insanely fun.

"What?

I'm talking about a bad game selling badly.

Time Crisis 4 didn't sell because it sucked."

You weren't the one who said this, but anyone who owned Madworld would tell you it's 6 hours of repetitive gameplay and that's why it failed, yet we still come into threads like this where it's used as evidence the wii has no hardcore base. Meanwhile successful wii hardcore games like those in the RE series (RE4, Umbrella Chronicles) or Call of Dut...

Yeah, he used EA as an example but it essentially means nothing. All the major publishers were taken aback at the success of the wii (just like everyone else in the industry) and so rushed out hasty ports to get something for sale on the new dominant system. It's easy to tell this is the case by comparing their graphics to Gamecube. In the case of Madden they cut both that and features to meet deadlines they never expected for a system they thought would fizzle.

What's really ...

"(on third parties making core games for Wii) And they've been huge financial flops... It's just not where the market is. Look at EA. Do you see the same Madden game on Wii? Of course not – it's a dumbed down game.” - Chubby Cheeked Mark Rein's Actual Quote

Someone never played Mercury Meltdown Revolution if he thinks they're dumbed down games. Like the Unreal engine is real complex. Point and shoot, right click to shoot different?

He also failed to note the s...

Call me when you graduate from your gimped pc and I'll whoop your ass in UT or Quake. You'll have to learn to shoot without n00bsticks or aim assist.

"Am I the only one that sees all these non-gamer wii owners are not going to care about some wii HD. The majority of wii only owners are not gamers. They don't care about the games they play, they don't follow the news or read up on future games they might like. And they are certainly not going to care about a $300 wii HD. They'll just pass it on as a wii with better graphics instead of educating themselves."

You're right, some wii owners don't play HD consoles because ...

Guys, this wii games don't sell trope is getting old. As a lot of posts have suggested The Conduit bombed, let's look at some actual figures.

Call of Duty for wii went platinum and eventually sold over a million copies. It sold 76k copies in the first two weeks of its release during the holiday season.

The Conduit sold 72k copies in the first 11 days of its release by NPD tracking data. The same NPD report said the video game industry was in a significant slump. T...

Yeah, Patcher apparently has messed up a lot of wii predictions, I've heard his name cursed on other websites.

Gamecube was dead last, I think 24m sold? My brother had one and I got literally 3 days of Mario Power Tennis as my entire experience. I learned about Star Wars: Rogue Squadron when looking for Killer7, one of the top rated Gamecube games done by the guy who did No More Heroes. The back of the boxes showed graphics that destroyed a lot of the crappy wii ports, so when...

There is little to no chance of this happening for the following reasons.

1. They'd never split their market.

2. Nintendo has directly said that the main barrier to purchase is getting moms to buy the console and that price was an area they used to attract them.

3. The Epic games head says that 40% of people don't even play Gears of War 2 on HD on a console designed to attract the HD market. Since the wii never focused on the HD market, HD saturation...

Jesus guys, I guess I have to keep saying this.

Call of Duty for wii went platinum and eventually sold over a million copies. The first 14 days of sales before Christmas were around 76k.

The Conduit came out with 11 days left in the NPD tracking period, but in June instead of the holidays. It sold 72k copies. That same NPD report said the video game industry was in a significant slump.

If you use this metric The Conduit may still succeed quite admirab...

We have No More Heroes, Suda's most successful game ever. What's the matter, you other console owners weren't hardcore enough for him? We earned him a sequel. If I remember correctly everyone said that game had flopped too based on initial sales. See we all learned that wii games sell slowly over time.

Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles sold over a million...as did Resident Evil 4...House of the Dead Overkill turned a profit already...Red Steel sold over a million...Call of Du...

Haha, I emailed HVS to ignore the reviews too! And I pointed out that the initial sales beat Call of Duty for wii, which went to be platinum. It's like no matter how many games they claim are failures that go on to be tremendous successes, these people don't learn that wii games sell slowly over a longer period of time. They have to decide right now if a game fails - they can't just wait a few months to save their reputation. It's particularly arrogant considering they all failed at predi...

"It always seems like a potential turd to me because , while featuring many fps's multiplayer features , a good wii 3d engine and lots of multiplayer , the game is damn too generic .

The art and design doesnt stand out , it looks like a crossbreed of fear or any usual fps . it got no edge and pull beyond the whole "oh my god the wii can do that too" kind of hype."

Every FPS since Quake has been the same. Really, here's the game:

"Are the people who have other consoles,(with shooters that are just much better online, gameplay-wise, story-wise, and obviously graphic-wise), which most reviewers do."

The Conduit is one of my favorite FPS games ever and I play them on pc. With a quad core processor, 2gb ram, and Radeon 4780, the latter costing more than a PS3. It has 1gb vram and dual core GPU on one card. Yet I still think the Conduit blows every ps/360 FPS out of the water for controls alone. <...

Why not just make a true followup to Myth II? You know, that amazing franchise Bungie stopped supporting right after MS bought them? The same one they threw at Take Two to wrap up while they started on Halo?

That game was sick. Pure tactics, no building. You could trade units in to customize your army. The high ground was an ultimate killer and setting the grass on fire with flame arrows was great. You could place your army in different formations that actually affected how...
