"Made various changes and improvements to Halo: CE multiplayer hit registration."
Multiplayer only for now it seems. I could have sworn single player suffers from this as well. I'd normally be tempted to put it down to sucking, but I've had someone else concur on this and they're the kind of person that does Legendary with all skulls, blindfolded, with an arm tied behind their back... using a Guitar Hero controller.
The wording choice for the headings is a bit poor. Maybe even misleading. But the writer's observations pretty sound going by what little we've seen alone.
I don't think anyone played Uncharted and thought "Awesome! I arbitrarily can't climb this wall any further to the left!". And I'm sure many find it routine when an out of place looking crag slips up under your feet whilst climbing. All an attempt to fit in a canned cinematic "surprise&qu...
The pricing isn't particularly good nor the value. These games are dirt cheap now for pretty much all systems and I don't think there was much demand to see what the games would look like with a little more room to breath on new consoles (as was the case with TLoU which was borderline breaking the PS3).
If they are going to put Devil May Cry on the new systems at least go full-hog and give us a Dante Collection with all 5 games in 1080/60. Now THAT I'd consider bu...
Getting a lot of ports alone isn't a good thing, but making it normal to get ports is part of getting the Vita to be normalised as a system. It was bizarre that Resident Evil: Revelations came to everything BUT the Vita even though, being a handheld, it made it the next natural choice to port to after the 3DS.
In fact we need to see far more 3DS games getting higher fidelity Vita versions as well. It's bizarre that we don't as it would make for the definitive han...
TBH these old-generation systems need price cuts globally. My PS3 broke down and I can't believe the price to replacing it with a new one.
I'm guessing that Cell processor didn't make its way into every fridge, toaster and TV that way Sony intended leaving them with aging hardware that doesn't price scale in-line with expectations.
Likewise. Some really great prices and deals on the Xbox One recently.
Naturally, fixing multiplayer takes priority over single-player. But as a solo game-player I'm hoping the subsequent patches fix some of the issues with the single-player game.
It will be over when people stop associating their relative self-worth with the system they play on. Fanboyism is more than simple factionalism over brand loyalty (that kind of divide is fairly normal) but people identifying themselves with the brand, and worse, identifying against others who are part of a brand out-group.
In other words factionalism alone doesn't create the kind of fanboyism we see in videogames.
Take for example why PS4 fanboys are look...
Yeah. I'm thinking some kind of licensing issue is at play there. Makes you really value physical media :P Gotta remember to do backups every now and then.
Yeah. It's a bit silly that you have to tag each bit of content for future safe keeping. It's not like I'm going to pass up freebies so they might as well be auto-tagged for me, saving me the ritual of administrative fluff.
And on a related subject, it would be nice to be able to search through our download lists with filters (I think the PS4 essentially has this now with the Content Library).
But it's a major issue on the Vita where you have...
What has appeared to change is Sony is now putting out games as "current month" games again, in essence giving new subscribers (or old subscribers who failed to register the game previously) a second chance at registering them. It's a change from the "get it while it's hot" philosophy PS+ has operated on until now.
Just my speculation, but I think poor uptake of PS+ in Japan might be partly behind it. I have no figures on hand, but I've certa...
Actually this is the first time this has ever happened. Consoles before the previous generation (before the PS3/360 i.e the PS2 days and back) weren't much more featured than having CD or DVD playback.
You know it reminds me of when that Square Enix rep expressed surprised that Bravely Default, a classic style JRPG, was actually what (some) people wanted. Something anyone should have been able to tell them.
But consider that home consoles/handhelds aren't (relatively) as big a deal in Japan now because of the prevalence of smartphones. With that in mind I think it's disingenuous to say Japan is down and out simply because their priorities sensibly shifted to a part ...
TBF FFXIII was one of the winners of these future awards at one point.
How about the weird battle system where you expend all your effort stealing the enemies' magic, items, trousers/underpants only to run away (lest you anger the game balance gods by accidentally levelling up)?
I don't think I've played an RPG that discourages you from actually fighting quite the way FF8 does. You're either running or looting.
Wow... someone hit Claire (?) with the ugly shovel... twice.
Dear God... that thing is ugly as sin. But I was just in the market for a Super Famicom so I'll take a look.
I don't get how anyone could disagree with a post that isn't making a statement. How does that even work? :P
I should point out that crossing regions isn't always about playing games in a foreign language. You might do it to play games that aren't released in your market yet such as the Operation Rainfall games which came to Europe in advance of North America.
Another reason to import is to play games as their creators intended (without any of...
The weird thing is that Nintendo handhelds have been almost entirely region free up until the 3DS came out. Making the switch to region-locking not only outdated, but regressive.
This does speak to a shifting consumer culture where there are two new types of consumers: Those that value disposable (short) single player games they can trade in whilst they maintain value, and those that look for value in multi-player (which can last hundreds of hours. Considerably longer than even most very long single-player modes).
For many people experiencing the same game again doesn't offer much new (especially if they are quite skilled in the genre) a second ti...
