Keep in mind that all four of Famitsu's reviewers play every single game that for review that comes out in a given week. Naturally that means they only dabble in each game, especially bigger, longer games. The end result is their review scores are evaluations of their first impression than the game as a whole.

Also keep in mind that Famitsu don't write reviews. Of the games that get reviewed each week, at best they give you one paragraph each on maybe a couple of them...

It was an issue because his post-FF7 emo-fication clashed with his established character/character growth in FF7. But it's not just in the FF7 universe - he's been emo-cast for many of the cameos he's made since FF7, again, in contrast to his original characterisation.

His upset would make sense if he was still carrying that mood at the end of 7, but he wasn't. So when he appeared in Advent Children his switch to emo-mode was regressive.

Yeah. What's weird was Cloud wasn't a mopey character originally. Especially by the end of VII where he was a courageous leader of sorts. And since then SE have boiled him down to a one-dimensional emo.

But we are already seeing a more positive side to him in the trailers. That smile.

As long as you manage your expectations. Expect lax difficulty levels and laxer pacing (despite having a day count to adhere to). More fluffy slice-of-life than epic adventuring.

Think of them as Animal Crossing style games dipping their toes into tepid traditional JRPG.

I thought this game came out ages ago... can't believe they never got around to a PS3 version.

Excellent by all accounts (speaking from experience as well). Well optimised with super speedy load times. I've also heard that the keyboard and mouse controls (not that I use them) are actually pretty good as well.

Honestly it doesn't look much better than the PS3 version. A bit sharper/less jaggy perhaps. But that's because the art style carried that game (and there was very little technical compromise to begin with). The difference is really in motion as you g...

The one catch with sales - they'll always be a better cheaper one later. It's why I've stopped trying to nab games at "sale" prices and instead looked to buy the cheapest one I can find as and when I actually will play them.

After all, money saved on a game you don't play isn't really money saved at all.

I'm not sure if it's entirely accurate to even call this a strict texture mod. There's some creativity that has to go into working out what those mushy details are even supposed to be! Take the sign which the modder has given readable pin sharp text. The awesome bit? They made the new version of the sign Spanish in keeping with the setting of the game.

The recent PC version included the master textures for the game (not just upscales). People are simply pissed that even the masters weren't that detailed to begin with. Although they do look marginally better than the originals (compare the textures in the main story mode vs those in the Ada campaign where they are indeed just upscales).

Now if you meant it was half-assed that they only used the masters for the main game? Yeah, that I agree with.

The back...

Guess this is to stop people signing up and pissing people off in the chat for F2P games or something similar.

I really hope that rumour of Samsung buying AMD out turns out to have some weight to it. In all likelihood Samsung want in on the CPU market rather than GPUs, but in any case having their R&D dollars backing AMD would help them tremendously. We need a competitive AMD to keep Intel/Nvdia prices in check.

Fighting games are the one genre where I don't really feel the upgrade for the PC version is worth it as the quality/presentation bar even on consoles is consistently high.

I got DOA5:LR on PC simply because it was quite a bit cheaper than any other platform. But I'd have gotten for any other system if that system had the game cheap TBH.

Maps last I checked. With Youtube to follow.

True. And you have to keep in mind that in many linear games there are actually more total assets (more unique surfaces) whereas with an open world game it's the same grass/dirt/rock texture applied again and again.

3958d ago 1 agree0 disagreeView comment

Nah. That will never happen. Because when positive watercooler talk comes along it gets swept under the rug and no one cares.

Just look at Far Cry 4, it's on the tip of everyone's lips when it's being "racist" or "anti-gay". But when it's revealed that the lead is a brown dude no one says a thing.

People like to bitch, but they're much more hesitant to celebrate.

Your comment is predicated on the idea that being gay is a choice.

Let me ask you this: with the stigma, ostrasisation and the predjudice that comes with being LGBT why would anyone opt in? If it is a choice, it's a really stupid one.

Wow... something must have been lost in translation because that was one awful trailer. The lack of any clear message, the lengthy seemingly random voice bites the whole way through, the lack of any context (the hell is a Seraphim?).

Erm... if opening files up to the community is mod support. Then doesn't it follow by extension that conciously not doing so is intentionally locking out mod support?

It's just a case of semantics. I used the term that many of these articles have been. Nothing more. Nothing less.

You know, we should probably wait for a statement or patch from Rockstar before we assume the game has had mod support intentionally locked out indefinitely.

Or you could go to all the effort of circumventing any locks only to have them removed with days/weeks. Whichever you prefer.

If I had to guess the violence in the game is something they don't want crossing into all regions. But TBH it should really fall under user responsibility if they go out of their way to access content that they shouldn't be able to under their country's laws/ratings programme.

edit: seems like that's not what they are talking about.
