True, when you consider it's open world it is impressive. But keep in mind that the areas we are seeing here aren't truly open either. Good point on the SSD though.
Cool. Just drop shadow resolution/quality and AA down a notch and I guess I could get similar performance from a 970.
Edit: Although, wow, holy-pop-in Batman. Actually, it's not that bad. In line with what I've seen in other games. But it sticks out here because I'm looking for immaculate presentation. Hopefully they'll be a patch to address that.
I just watched the anime of this. Really sharp dialogue with unusually relentless pacing in the back and forths between characters. Tempted to see if the game can capture that.
I missed this game when it was originally release, but more importantly I miss games like this in general so I'm definitely looking to picking it up.
Erm.... so is that her actual outfit, or just the base outfit you get if you remove armour? Pretty important distinction.
Aside: I love the name of this website. That's actually made my day.
...okay... *tumbleweed*
Wow. I didn't even get an inkling that Dying Light would be received well in Japan.
I'm hoping these games are even half as good as they seem. Cos if they we were are in for a treat.
I've only watched the cutscenes but I felt the game did a great job of painting most of the characters as three-dimensional interesting people. I forgot I was watching a videogame because I was engrossed in the character relationships. Kinda surprised myself cos I never figured MK had such a strong story/characters.
Also this article gets props for not just whining and actually saying something constructive for a change. Points taken off for still including whining.
Honestly, the difference in visuals and such isn't that dramatic (based on Ground Zeroes). The load times however, are much shorter on the PC (even on a HDD).
Not sure if that's much help, but there you go.
I've never considered them together TBH. People play them for different things (or did before the AAA industry as a whole settled on making action-adventure-RPG-jack-of-a ll-trades a genre).
I think a more fascinating comparison would be TPS vs FPS.
There's no word on which resolution those ultra settings are for. But TBH I think it's safe to assume it was for 1080.
Now assuming that the game runs at 60fps at 1080/Ultra, is the frame hit from jumping up to 4k really only going to be 15fps? I have my doubts.
TBH I think ATM 4K (based on my experience DSR'ing games down from it) is perfect for maxing out/60fps on 360/PS3 level games (assuming they aren't terrible ports). But for new-gen games 4K's time has yet to arrive IMO.
Hopefully videocard tech in the next two years sees significant improvements because we're getting 4k monitors at reasonable prices these days.
I was going to leave a thought provoking comment here, but instead I direct readers to a comment I'll make in a weeks' time. Please look forward to said comment. Coming soon.
People don't add in those costs because they forget to do so. They don't count them because they are post-entry requirements that they don't mind paying.
It's not about total cost per se, but where people feel they want to put money down vs not doing so. People don't mind paying for games, they do mind paying for the ability to do so (opt-in prices). Games are an attractive proposition because they each offer an experience worth paying for, even at a prem...
I find these specs a little incredible TBH. As I have that 970/8350 combo (close to the recommended Ultra for Arkham Knight) and Arkham City stutters like crazy on Ultra (even though it's Nvdia optimised).
I'm guessing (hoping) this game is just much better optimised or something.
TBH I'd imagine it would be fine if you just drop a few things down here and there. After all the difference in shadow quality between high/ultra in most games is pretty much impossible to discern. And even the difference between medium-high isn't that big. Yet the performance gains are massive.
I can't believe Sega did HD versions of so many of their Dreamcast games, even giving Jet Set Radio special treatement, and yet there's no HD re-release for Shenmue or Skies of Arcadia.
Shenmue in particular could stand to benefit from having faster load times (especially 2!).
TBH I'm happy about the cutscenes. I was worried the game would be mostly repetitive quests in an overly large map with almost no story context holding it together.
Open world Batman-game co-op would be amazing. In concept anyway.
