for giving that supreme a$$hat J. Thompson more fuel for is idiot crusade. Let me get my stopwatch out and see how long it takes him to start spouting off again.

Another one bubble poster begging to be "ignored".

the majority of these are current Xbox360 owners trading up. If instead they are wait-and-see consumers now buying due to the larger drive and HDMI then that would be a positive for MS. New owners is what it is all about.

What is rather amusing is that most of the posts that rail on this guy are really no different.

In one breath they criticize him for being bias and pre-maturely proclaiming a winner...and then continue to proclaim Blu-ray the winner and regurgitate the common arguments why. LOL.

For anyone proclaiming the war over...be prepared not to be taken seriously and categorized as nothing more than the usual fanspeak to be shelved as background noise.

If someone ONLY/MOSTLY cares about playing games they don't want to pay $600 for a GAME system.

If someone ONLY/MOSTLY cares about watching high definition movies they would gladly rather pay < $400 for a player.

The ONLY case where the PS3 would be a good deal is in the case where you equally like to play games AND watch high definition movies which globally would be considered a minority group. The greatest numbers fall into the pure game player or pure movi...

The only thing that was made clear was that Walmart did not sign on the dotted line. I didn't read anywhere where Walmart denied inquiring about players or even what type of players they were. They stated in the Fuh Yuan statement(translated?) that it was HD-DVD, but I was hoping to hear it from Walmart. Should prove interesting in the next 6 months if China/Taiwan is ready to start cranking these things out.

and the answer is no...you can't take it down to zero bubbles no matter how many try to get there. BUT, you can click on the ignore link under their picture to remove them from your sight...would be a nice feature for most of the people that have to deal with them in real life too.

If you wish to take away someone's voice then don't acknowledging them as having one....click Ignore.

you will find out that the Cell processor and it's concepts were developed by IBM and NOT Sony. If your going to hang your hat...make sure it's your own rack and not someone else's. Folding has also been employed on PC LONG before Sony used it for publicity.

This isn't just about connecting with a crappy handheld...it's about connecting EVERYTHING and being able to share all resources. Sony is lacking a masscot these days...maybe they should use your Turkey.

As more games come out for the PS3 it will carry less weight with the studios in the fact that their owners will be spending a majority of their money on games instead of movies. A person who buys a standalone player with the same amount of money to spend on media will be using that money solely on movies. If HDDVD is able to get enough standalone players in consumer hands, Blu-ray only studios will start backing both formats. It matters not if others deem the players "less quality"...

in the end we the consumers will dictate policy. Vista is nothing more than a graphical enhanced version of XP bloated with DRM. In order to entice us into swallowing that bitter pill, MS added a little sugar called DX10...and only made it available on Vista. Dell is getting just a taste of how people disfavor having Vista shoved down our throats. As far as corporations go, they are not very happy about some the migration issues and problems with having to rebuy software that is no longer com...

the way sony raped their gaming community by forcing them to shell out $600+ dollars on a "game" system just so that they can attempt to win the next format war.

then halographic discs would be the superior format, but no one (even with studio support) is going to pay $10,000 for a player. What makes a technology superior is when it is available to the majority of the people and not just those with mounds of disposable income. If they were able to offer blu-ray players/discs at the same price as HDDVD then you could claim it as superior, but right now that is not the case.

is the assumption that studio format support will remain a constant. Even if it starts with Europe...all HDDVD needs to accomplish right now is to convince one blu-ray only studio to include their format. Once one studio makes that choice and starts to make money then another one goes...and so on and so on. If Sony/Blu-ray looses the exclusivity of the major studios then they will take a big beating due to HDDVD's cheaper players and aggressive pricing.

Some advice...using &quo...

Sony using their video games division to try and push their next format. What better way to get people to buy blu-ray discs than to pre-maturely push out their "videogame" system with no games. Let's also give away free blu-ray vouchers and include those totals in with the numbers for their then "gameless system" induced sales to create a pretty picture for the movies studios to remain faithful to their cause. Yeh...you can paint either side as looking pathetic/desperate. ...

There are MANY times that a Sony rep used the words "we HOPE to keep this service free." Don't make the assumption that Home will be free unless they find a successful advertising model that works without ruining the virtual environment. Labeling this as a free service before it is even up and running is being rather presumptuous.

...they would have used their strong point to cure the HDD space problem and attacked it through software. It would have been very easy for them to create an update for windows and Xbox Live to give users the ability to backup their stuff right to a network connected PC. If windows has the ability to stream music/video to the Xbox360 then they should have the ability to run the stream in the other direction and allow for backups to PC. Then with the limitless amount of (cheaper) PC harddrive ...

that if this was a pro Sony article, their corporate cheerleaders would be in here beating their chests shouting the usual 12 year old clichés "So PWNED". The fact of the matter is this is yet ANOTHER opinion blog by ANOTHER individual who claims to see the future. I don't care if they're Analysts or Developers...not a single one of their opinions matters. The only opinions that will matter will be the consumers. As of right now the consumers say the 360 is the leader...fact. Y...

The existence of this new box doesn't have a damn thing to do with Sony. The reason for Microsoft creating this box is to push IPTV use. They are setting themselves up to offer this version as a set top for companies willing to provide their service. The HDMI is to maxmize the amount of TVs they can connect to, 65nm chip is so that you can leave the thing on for extended periods without fear of heat, and obviously the 120gb HDD is for the increased storage means. Sure it would be great if the...
