They did it because they knew people would be annoyed with starfield (which they were right)and think all hope is lost without foresight of future projects. And their games are harder to make than people give them credit for

Interesting take

The one thing I appreciated about it is how the directional input for their games is actually normal. I could not press forward or back on stick without jumping or something else stupid in their past games.

The games that catch the most widespread acclaim are just those that resonate the most with the nature of the gaming audience. Doesnt mean these games are truly amazing per say, they just catch on with more people,like pop music.

@Kosander

You call this criticism? They aren’t saying anything for someone to actually learn from, they are just giving unfocused hate. I am sorry that the truth wounds you enough to resort to insults. But you prove what these individuals bring on themselves. These people are opening the doors for contention and discussion when they make ridiculous takes, just as you have.

@reddevils

Lol. I dont need to defend anything. If you see this...

I do find it interesting how contentious this game is. Many so it as brilliant, and many dog pile the game. Very amusing

Games go on sale. Stop worrying about it, as its no secret the game underperformed sales wise. But that doesnt mean what people want it to mean.

451d ago 4 agree9 disagreeView comment

People already do that. They ignore “flaws” with alot of games from BG3 to tears of the kingdom. “Flaws” are a manifestation of the observer and what they allow to bother them.

@From2008

That is subjective. Maybe they give it high praise because it hooked them in in a way others did not. Who can really say

The article has interesting point. Though I wouldnt say gamers need to come out of a comfort zone, more like just understand themselves and their preferences. The more one understands themselves, the better chance they can shape their life to taste, including getting more out of video games.

@silverhawk

Good point. I didnt think Forspoken was a bad game by any means and I see what you mean about how strangely inconsistent and chaotic people are in general with their expectations. I call it the “They Live” phenomena, in which people will wear the shades that show the “flaws” with games they dont want to like, but take the shades off when looking at things that they want to like.

@Foxtrot

I actually like the game, so I should be here. Who I cant understand being here are those that have made their disdain for the game very apparent, and yet they keep showing up over and over again for something they dont like.

This is not a “Oh I just dont like it,” The stuff these people post is typically slanderous, saying things like “crapfest”, and “garbage”, and “people that like this are coping”. It goes to show that you have not been paying...

Sales numbers do lie apparently , as Dead Space and Final Fantasy 7 rebirth are alledgedly great games, that still buckled under the weight of poor sales. A game being “good” or “bad” doesnt automatically mean its going to push big numbers, and vice versa. Just look at Sleep Myth Wukong. Sales were off the charts.

@pwnmaster3000

Good point. Sometimes it feels like the movie “They Live”, and people are wearing the glasses ONLY when viewing games they dont want to like. Very interesting mystery I have trying to fully understand.

@snookies12

Dragon age is still my second favorite game series of all time( use to be first until Mass Effect pulled me in), and I still sense its identity is very present, just from a different angle. But it depends on what a person was looking for and what pulled them in to start.

Again, you aid my case unknowingly. People should ask themselves “why am I entertained by ideas pertaining to darkness and corruption?” Its not like people are simply saying “okay, its friendly, no big deal”. They are actively annoyed when there is no disturbing subject matter(which there is, but people seem to think there isnt). As annoyed as a dark god would be when they dont get their daily sacrifice.

That people expect a rpg to have dark themes and gritty edge to be “good”. What does that say about humanity?
