Most games get alot “wrong”, people just hand waive those things if they like the game. People will hopefully learn the difference between preference and wrong.
Truth is, we do not know the real reason for the game’s financial failure. But can tell you, the disengenuous smear campaign certainly didnt help. People will believe anything.

Most action games that release have adapted the souls formula. I cant tell you how many times I see a game that catches my interest with a character and a giant sword, only to see that its a souls like. Heck, even team ninja themselves were making soulslike games for almost a decade now.

They wanted to gauge player interest, which is clearly not there. What people want is always changing, and that is not an easy thing to keep up with.
Its bery hard for single player games to be lucrative for studios as big as EA. Why do people think sony is trying so hard to go live service? Same with EA.
