There's no news in this particular piece. There have been several articles mentioning the 5GB swap/load file, but this "article" is just a forum post written by someone who had too much time on his hands to slag Sony.
Sure, it could be a 10-minute, one-time thing, but until it's reported by someone who's actually done it, it's just fanboy wanking.
While I don't think the lack of unified buddies at launch is that big of a deal, the recent PS3 interface video showed the demonstrater's buddy with "Resistance: Fall of Man" underneath his name, because he was online and playing that game in the other room.
Sounds unified enough for me, at least for starters.
Come on, this isn't news, it's fanboy speculation.
Interesting to read that GOW's Mad World trailer was created the same way as MGS's game engine-powered trailers/cut scenes. (MGS2-4 have all done this too):
From the article:
"I have seen the Gears of War ad/trailer and, better yet I've been able to play a little bit of Gears of War. I would not say that the trailer is totally representative of the game itself, even though it's using in-game assets. It's one thing to create a cool video with in-game assets, a...
I have to disagree with you there. The latest first-person gameplay for Motorstorm (still many months away from release) is damn close to the original CGI target video. You do understand the concept of target/concept videos don't you? Ignore the "fog of war" comments by fans, reporters and reps during E3, regardless of those most sane people took those videos at face value, that is, as displays of concept.
Fanboys on all fronts have really muddied the waters since ...
Good points all, Enforcer.
One thing that baffles me is the continual comparison between GOW and RFOM. Sure, they're both similar in the sense that they're military shooters and are supposed to be graphic powerhouses, but comparing a TPS to an FPS is tricky. Resource-wise you can afford much more detail on a TPS than on a first person shooter. Concurrent player & enemy count is a prime example. Aside from that there's development time as well. This is pretty much a case of f...
(Tactful? Did you mean Tactical? Were the marines trying not to hurt the aliens' feelings?)
Wow, I can smell your brown MS-puckered breath from here. You sound like the lunchroom kids in _Billy Madison_ bickering over which Sega Genesis game was better.
What is it with this fanboy (from all 'camps') over-postulation about games/hardware that isn't even released yet? Do you all have a secret club that gets first crack at pre-release material? Can I join?
...
The picture quality *is* substantially better, and you *can* have 1080p via VGA (re-read that AVS forum thread you're in). I'm confident MS will fix the problem on their end and get it working.
I don't know exactly which Samsung models you have in mind, but the 1080p models I've seen aren't that much less expensive than the baseline XBR2 1080P sets. Could you refer me to a particular model or model range? If I can save $1500 and still get a decent full/true/whatever 1080P di...
I think the first-person mode is already too close to the original concept video than some people will want to admit.
It'll be nice to see the final version of this thing in real life on a good screen.
I might just change my mind about this game. I'll get it if I can play that @#%ng cool Batmobile.
So essentially you're admitting that MS actually made a booboo?!
I don't believe it. Are you drunk? Someone write down the date! This is monumental.
Ooohhh... It was a 'coincidence'. Just a fluke. I see your rationaliztion. Never mind.
I suspect your incoherent ranting is based solely on the fact that you don't yet have an HDMI option. Thus, it's disregarded.
You ask "Why limit yourself to HDMI"? I ask, "Why limit yourself to analog" That's so last generation. ;)
Besides, MS admitted there's a problem and they're working on it. See that AV forum thread that was posted here recently. It's funny: One of your lackeys (Mickey Gee) in fact got pwned by the real AV guys there.

Straight from the mouth of Mr. Anti-Sony. You're a fool if you can't admit their XBR HDTVs are among the best, if not the best 1080P displays. Step outside of game fanboy forums and you'll see that.
If a person didn't know the specs of their tv before buying, the fault lies squarely on their shoulders.
There's nothing wrong with sticking with HDMI for 1080P, since that'll be the digital connection of choice in the coming years. Don't cry (foul) just because you're...
You do know that piece is out of date, don't you? I would hope that's the reason for you unintentionally misleading people. Even his follow-up comparison is almost 2 months old.
According to Peter Bracke's Round *Two*:
"That said, with all things being equal and this second round of comparisons being apples to apples -- same title, same master, same codec, same supplemental material -- it is telling that I found it almost impossible to detect any differenc...
Don't know you personally, but we're all familiar with your fanboy online persona. That's enough. ;)
But your funny comment aside, it looks like the AI in recent builds is finally coming together, based on a promising recent hands-on.

IGN preview:
"Even more impressive is the quality of AI apparent, even in our relatively incomplete demo. If you're used to the shop dummy enemies of games like Half-Life 2 - you know the ones, happy t...
Wow, you really seem to get worked up over the littlest things.
Anyway, if you've never seen that particular ironic phrase ("That'll learn 'em!") then you should expand your reading beyond just gaming sites.
The fact that they didn't have a final dev kit until recently certainly didn't help either. The article that every one refers to ("360 version is smoother") specifically states that they hadn't even gotten COD3 running on the new kit at all. No wonder.
Yeah, that's why the news is all over the 360 sites. It's appears to be true, at least for those with particular modded boxes.
You misunderstood. Read the post again. I was saying the PSP is aimed more towards older gamers, not the under-10 crowd. Everyone and their mother has a DS, but I guarantee the average PSP owner is older than the average DS owner.
Moving on to a more objective source at GameDaily:
"I have seen the Gears of War ad/trailer and, better yet I've been able to play a little bit of Gears of War. I would not say that the trailer is totally representative of the game itself, even though it's using in-game assets. It's one thing to create a cool video with in-game assets, and it's another to have the same visual fidelity with everything going on at once (physics, AI, etc.)."
The Mad World trailer...
