Ah, I wondered if that was how this add-on worked. It's simiilar to the PS3's BR drive, in that they both decode the streams via their CPU/Cell rather than rely on a hardware decoder as in the case of stand-alone units.
Makes sense, especially if you have the processing power. It's more cost-effective, and probably allows for future expandability.
You're useless. Stop spamming.
"Enjoy GOW."

Wish I could! Planning to buy a PS3 does not restrict me from respecting it as a kick-ass game.
To belabour the scat: Please cut the crap.

That's answering a question with a stupid & incorrect answer.

Stop spamming every non-360 thread.
"Lower down this page there will be, I suspect, a current of distaste for what some will view as the partisan hyperbole of a positive first impression. "Shock! Eurogamer likes a PS3 game!" Well, fair enough - it's probably my fault as much as anybody's that you won't allow us to be enthusiastic about anything. All I'd say is to bear in mind that I don't in any way care if you buy a PlayStation 3. I've been arguing with people around here about actually answering the question of...
Emulated PS games will be "...all under $5." WTF? That's nuts. I'm in. ;)
Come on, be reasonable. It's a great game -- you don't have to be a fanboy to admit that. Perfect Dark could be called a turd, but you're being a bit too fannish here. Reign it in a bit.
Don't ruin the positive thread here with your fanboy crap. Puh-lease.
Nice review! I can't wait to see what GameSpot has to say about GOW.
Oops, this just in: 9.6 on GameSpot! Impressive!!
Finally, a worthy Killer App. For me it was more of a Bruiser App situation, (personal picks being Dead Rising and Chromehounds), but this thing is sweet.
Ooo... That's pretty immature. If it was anyone else but MS, they'd have been crucified in the press/fanboy sites.
I wouldn't be surprised if it backfired. All those goth and emo brats are going to start snatching up black iPod Nanos now.
"Porn...proven" not "proved". C'mon, even the original article got it right.
This contradicts what was reported a few weeks ago, that DVDs wouldn't be upscaled at all. Even if this isn't possible at first, I wouldn't be surprised if it was possible at a later date via a fix.
Well it appears that Sega is wrong, since the last official word was that the 360 version was cancelled.
Do you have any recent news on the 360 version? Anything since September's "cancellation"? It'd be nice to have a final word on this.
I agree for the most part, but I think the reason for not releasing the specs is that they can't realistically be compared on paper. The Cell is integral to the way the PS3 works, and while the RSX may or may not be as powerful as the GPU in the 360, Sony doesn't need to be caught out playing the numbers game.
If they put out favourable numbers, the anti-Sony crowd will resume their "Sony is LieER=s1!1" refrain. And if they put out realistic numbers (which I suspect are...
PS3 fans have lots of time to kill by posting, at least for a few more weeks/months, but the question in my mind is the overwhelming amount of time spent on pro-360/anti-PS3 posts by 360 fanboys. The more balance 360 owners are a joy to read, because they're obviously real gamers.
Is there a reason you're not too busy playing your 360? Is it true that it's become a two-horse pony (Halo/GOW)? Are you that upset over the PS3's mere existance?
WTF is going on wit...
Wow, only 3 morons in the first 5 posts. Not bad for a PS3 story on this site.
A few months ago From said that the 360 version was cancelled. Either it hasn't sunk in among 360 fans and sites, or it was untrue. I believe I read it on a few reputable sites at the time.
It was just after Chrome Hounds game out, and from what I remember of the tone of the story, they were going to concentrate on that IP for the 360, and continue with a PS exclusivity for the AC series.
.....Yeah, I just Googled it again. The original word on the cancellation...
The Amiga had this in 1988 with the Mandala system that used the Genlock device to pioneer this sort of interactivity. It was the first device of this sort available to consumers. All of these camera toys copied them. nyeah nyeah!
