This the problem when corporate execs make business decisions about games wthout giving any thought to the gamers themselves. All they see is low production cost with high market placement - i.e. on a billion mobile phones. That's why they can't understand why putting out a PR statement that "but..bu..but.... Alien: Blackout is a standalone game that shares Amanda Ripley as a main character but is not related to or a sequel of Isolation." - It just doesn't do anyting to ...

The Mass Effect franchise has to be my most played series of games. I have completed each entry multiple times (I think I have the platinum for ME2 & ME3 - not ME1 as I played it on PC, and not Andromeda for obvious reasons). There were just so many moments in that series - including the botched ME3 ending - that moved me. Infact apart from TLOU I don't think there has been another game that impacted me like Mass Effect did. I ended up reading all the books, and gettging all the gra...

Better than that it tells us where the console game will be at the start of next gen. I don't know what the conversion rates are at launch from one generation to the next; but with 91 million consoles sold, by the time the PS5 releases (most likely with well over 100million PS4 users by then), there will be a good chance Sony will start next gen with a massive lead.

At the end of the day there's only so much money in the gaming community to go round. I know these mega corporations think that if the next franchise instalment doesn't make half a billion dollars in it's opening weekend then it's a commercial failure. Restructuring and getting new CFO's and President's usually means new pledges and profit targets for investors. I wish they would employ gamers instead of businessmen - I know it won't happen, but my would it change ...

Well ofcoures they are making money. No one is arguing that Microsoft are not making money from their Xbox division. In all honesty the article you linked to is a much better metric of success than this article here. Do you think Sony and Nintendo don't see the same growth across their networks? Ofcourse they do. Do you think if Sony published the numbers of "total gaming hours" on PS4 those numbers wouldn't be equally, if not more impressive?

The point is...

I would hope it would be your choice, and not that you're being forced to be on Xbox. That would be aweful.

:))

I actually love alot of those smaller indie games that get lost behind the heavy weights. Some of my best gaming moments have been with smaller indie titles, like SOMA, Outlast, Inside, Oxenfree, The Fall etc etc...

People can have the same aspiration but for different reasons. There's no problem with that at all. I might want to be rich to help the poor. You might want to be rich to help yourself. Same aspiration, but different motivation.

The two platforms are not in the same position. Xbox gamers might be looking forward to next gen because of the excitment to see what games the new studios will develop. They might also have conceded that xbox has lost this gen, and are now h...

@porkchop

I'm not so sure MS are in such a grest position going into next gen. Firstly it is likely that the PS5 will release first, before the xbox counterpart. There's a ton of good will for Playstatin right now, and a huge install base which are essentially already onboard for the PS5. Also for MS first party teams, in gaming time those are still very recent acquisistions, and they will still need time for development of said games (3 years minimum?) Meanwhile So...

Alot of the times it's the finances that limit buying options, and buyers remorse can be a very powerful factor in driving people to defend what they own.

I think the writer of the article is trying to draw a parallel between the power of the xboxone and the lack of games made specifically to take advantage of that power. Especially when it comes to single plyer story driven games.

Doesn't answer the question though.

The question wasn't about what service moved you, but what Xbox game moved you?

I think you'll find that given that sales numbers PS4 has reached 91 million, there are a truck ton of gamer out there who do care for Playstation Exclusives and are buying the console by the millions. I don't think anyone expected Marvels Spiderman to Sell 9 Million copies, but there were 9 million gamers out there who would have bought that on Xbox if it was on that platform. It's not just about Uncharted or TLOU. It's about great games.

So lets skip the "hokie Dokie" then and simply get to the point of the articel.

XboxOne - Worlds most powerful console. Right?

So which Microsoft developed/published/owned games demonstrate that power - above and beyond what's available on other platforms? Similarly which Microsoft developed/published/owned games provide a more emotive experience?

I think you'll find that the answer everyone is trying to avoid is - N...

Wow! So you're saying that the last time an Xbox exclusive moved you was on the 360 about 5 years ago? Or at least last gen? O my goodness! And then it was a multiplatform game anyway - the article seems to be asking about Microsoft developed/published games, But I guess even if you include Mass Effect, I would be interested to know what exclusive game This Gen moved you?.

Talk about being prejudiced. At the very least wait for the reviews aye?! You haven't played the game yet, no one has, so you have no way of knowing if it is a good or bad game. Sheesh.

Yeah one of those dislikes was mine. It's not surprising really, no one asked for this.

I just don't even know what to say to this. In the face of 91 Million consoles sold, these Xbox "milestones" come across as somewhat vapid.

Yeah, I can't lie, I know it's cliche by this point, but The Last of Us moved me to tears a couple of times; even on my second or so playthrough. That end scene with Ellie and David, and when Joel comes in hugs her... gets me every time. But yeah, I can completely submerge myself into my games.. the really good ones at least.

2735d ago 6 agree1 disagreeView comment

Yeah, then you're doing it all wrong. Stop wasting your time with games and go do something more meaningful. At least do something that moves you aye!

Edit: I have to say I do love music though, and yeah I'm with you on the music front.
