That's only if they're not all GaaS multiplayer games, and those studios won't be releasing anything until next gen consoles.
Wait, so you included The Division 2, Rage 2 and Metro Exodus, but didn't include Days Gone? Huh! Go figure.
Yeah, I hear you, but Sony don't need to drop the price of the PS4 because it's still completely outselling the competition at it's current price- even given the steady decline in YOY sales. Moreover PS4 still has must have exclusives that are yet to release, system selling exclusives like TLOU2, which will further drive console sales.
Sony won't drop the price this year, maybe next year as they prepare for the PS5 launch. The launch of the PS5 will be at a higher pr...
I disagree actually. I love stealth sections in games, well, most stealth sections in games. The problem alot of the times is the absolutely terrible implementation of stealth tropes and poor gameplay mechanics. This ranges from abysmal camera views, poor A.I., artificial restrictions on the player (taking away weapons and/or abilities previously available to the player), and auto fail/restart sequences when you get caught, or being unable to return to a state of stealth when discovered. ...
The point is that there's a difference between enhancing or changing the "traditional single player game experience", and saying that single player games "don't have the same impact that they used to have" or suggesting the single player games don't succeed and therefore you have to try and make sure that "narrative single player games... have an opportunity to succeed."
Now I know I am picking and choosing my quotes, but it's t...

I don't think anyone is a "close second" to the Playstation. Xbox don't release sales numbers anymore, becasue they were being left in the dust. I don't think Sony will officially reduce the price of the PS4 until the PS5 releases.
Playstation DomiNation!
Dark Souls and Bloodbourne would beg to differ, as well as Persona 5, Nier Automata, Nioh, Ni No Kuni, Dragon Quest XI etc etc. There are plenty of niche Japanese games on Playstation - at least more than you'd find on the xbox and switch at any rate. So in that regard Playstatin is still the best place to play niche Japanese games.
But with the year starting with Kingdom Hearts 3, Resident Evil 2 Remake, and then heavy hitters like Anthem, Metro Exodus, Crackdown 3, and then Sekiro and Days Gone - it seems that by April there will already be plenty to play. And if the rumours are true about TLOU2 and Death Stranding releaseing this year, then 2019 might not be so quiet by the end of it.
Yeah doesn't seem like we're going to get a sequel to Alien Isolation anytime soon. So disappointing, that instead it's mobile games and MMO's that no one is asking for.
I don't think they'll drop the price. Heck they don't need to - at least not until the PS5 is released.
I'm really not going to click through 20 pages, surely you could have put all the information on 5 pages max? Sheesh!
Sony has absolutely nailed it this gen. They will easily top 100million units before the year is out, and life time sales will probably surpass the PS2, especially if production of PS4 units continue for another 3-4 years.
I know everyone has their preferences, and that's good, but for me Playstation has the best exclusive games, and for me, it is the best place to play as long as the great exclusives keep coming.
I think TLOU2 will still release this year, but I agree that we'll see PS5 remasters of even games like God of War, Spider-man and Detroit Become Human - not just TLOU2. However, the conversation has to start with if the PS5 will be backward compatilble?!
That's the great thing about the Playstation ecosystem though, it caters to the best multiplats as well as the best exclusives. Personally I wouldn't compare and compete TLOU2 with a game like Cyberpunk 2027. They are just so very different in every way. Moreover, I'm pretty sure TLOU2 will win it's fair share of GOTY awards, don't worry about that. :)
I hear you, although obviously you realise I was not talking about the financial quarter, but the actual monthly fourth quarter of the year, but I agree with you anyway and I like your analysis :)
I think it was smart of Sony to move Days Gone to April, February was just way too crowded with games like Crackdown, Anthem, Mertro Exodus etc. If they give it the polish it deserves I think it will do well as the first big Playstation exclusive of the year.
Detroit Become Human is such a brilliant game. It's amazing how the story completely changes with the different choices you make; and how you can miss whole story lines, or encounters with the different characters. Unfortuntely, the critics couldn't get past the fact that it is a David Cage game, and automatically discredited the game. If exactly the same game had been made by telltale or dontnod OMG! It would have been hailed as the second coming.
Yeah I have been moved by great exclusives like TLOU, but actually games like SOMA, Bioshock Infinite, Red Dead 2, even Outlast moved me (although in a different way :) So yeah, multiplatform games do move you just as well as exclusives.
But I think the article highlights a good point about Microsoft though - and specifically the power that Microsoft boasts about. If the choice is to invest in GaaS based games or multiplayer experiences, then there will naturally be less in...
