Wildstar will be the must have MMO, not ESO. ESO will just be one of those typical MMOs that die down massively after the first month or two, there doesn't seem to be much to do end game, and end game is what keeps the players staying, it's why WoW is so popular.

Just because it does go that fast elsewhere doesn't mean everyone comes even close to that speed.

It's being reported that it's 5MB (not Mb) which means you will need at MINIMUM 40Mb connection. So many people have way under that, unless it's really just a journalist screwing it up and it really is 5Mb, in which case I would think most people who game online would reach that.

EA, and Origin, and not being able to host own servers makes me worried, everything else about this game looks amazing. Hoping I won't regret spending my money on it.

I thought it was common knowledge they were playing the long game? They are getting developers to START developing their games for SteamOS, so that eventually the OS will have a large amount of games from here onwards. Of course they aren't magically going to get every single game on the console, but in say 5 years, they will have a large collection where people will be able to move away from Windows if they so desire.

It's just like the new consoles, many people will...

Activision is known to milk franchises until their is nothing left to milk. They don't care about originality, they care about making money. Once CoD dies they will just start milking a new franchise.

Tony Hawks Pro Skater and Guitar Hero are previous examples of milking till the death.

I'd recommend you go learn what you are talking about before you try and have a discussion on it.

AI uses some form of scripting, otherwise it doesn't know what the hell it is meant to do with it's choices and what it has learned. And the whole point of the 'cloud' is to generate that AI and be able to dynamically change it, to LEARN (spoilers: that's AI).

And it sure isn't a hardware problem. They are still rendering the same amou...

Why do you think 'scripts' to act as players is bad? They would be collecting so much data from each user, and then processing it, they could literally make AI that you can't even tell the difference between AI or not.

And they have stated it's a design decision, they tried less, they tried more, and they found 6v6 to be the sweet spot so they designed their maps based on that.

It would be download. Since you are downloading entire frames consistently you need a large amount of bandwidth to handle the large amount of data that is being sent, where as you are basically only uploading input data (from controller or whatever) to the server, which is basically nothing so upload bandwidth isn't as important.

Just because a game CAN have something, doesn't mean it will ALWAYS have it.

Hell, Counter Strike has 'stand in' bots in some servers till a player joins, it doesn't mean it will be used in competitive. Also, the bots in Titanfall are NOT stand-in.

4409d ago 1 agree14 disagreeView comment

For all we know that's just a game mode, they aren't replacing players, they might have an option to disable, nobody knows. There's no point bitching over the unknown, I was just showing that small amounts of players doesn't make the game crap.

"Last but not least, the Respawn employee emphasized that AI-controlled characters aren't the traditional bots, as they play a key role in the online matches instead of replacing human players."

Quake, Counter Strike, Cod, Halo, Golden Eye. All revolutionised the FPS experience and were all small player counts. Top that off with the devs behind this having experience with making fantastic shooters and I think it's safe to say that these guys know a lot more than your typical fanboy.

If player count made a game, MAG would have been a hell of a lot better.

All the people hating on the game have to wait for Titanfall 2 anyway, since Titanfall isn't coming out on PS4.

Seriously, 6v6 and under are the best for competitive play, I don't see what the big deal is. ALL of the competitive games (and I mean proper competitive) have small teams in their tournaments.

I wasn't stating current consoles are ready for it. I was stating that 1080p is good enough for VR to commercially succeed, it doesn't have to wait for 8k+ to start.

I've tried the Occulus Rift multiple times, and once you get over the 'woah this screen looks weird' (due to resolution), you find yourself completely immersed in the experience.

No PC in the world is 'perfect' for gaming, yet look how much shit there is for gaming.

It has to start somewhere, and 1080p is fine.

@LAWSON72

You don't understand do you. It is just a CHEAPER pc. You can do EVERYTHING you can do on a PC for CHEAPER.

Yes, you can upgrade your PC, just like this. But this is initially cheaper. You want to play all those games not supported on SteamOS? Install windows.

And Valve have never claimed to want to try and steam the console gamers away, but still, they are offering PC gaming much CHEAPER if console people want to jump ship.

And then AMD plays catch up and brings out a card that is even more power hungry.

Oh boy, admitting to making a deal with DDoSers is the most stupid thing you could do. He could essentially be blamed for the taking down of whatever game he was playing.

$70k for a days work is amazing though, it's weird to think it's possible to make that much money randomly.

It's odd that you tell people to do research, when you yourself have wrong information.

He owned 50% of Sony/ATV (with Sony owning the other 50%). His share was worth $1 Billion. Sony's total assets are valued at $151 Billion. So even if MJ's money were totally taken away from Sony/ATV (it wasn't) it would have been 0.66% of Sony's assets.

Struggle to do what exactly? And stop calling it a console, it's not. It is fully customisable hardware and software. Want windows? Install windows. Want more RAM? Put in more RAM. Want steamOS on your current PC? Install it.

It's a cheaper ALTERNATIVE to purchasing a PC.
