The article was about this being the last big thing MS can rely on, not for sony fanboys to wave their 'look at me' stick.

Fair enough, 5/10ths of a player score. From what I've played, farming bots is not a good way to get points. Killing players and titans is a much funner way, and faster way of gathering points. And then if you are playing the capture the points game mode, killing bots is pretty pointless if you want to top the leaderboard.

But yes, I guess having people screw around and kill bots in their attempt to get a high score (which they won't) will affect the scores, but that&...

Bot kills don't even count as player kills, and they are worth like 1/10th of the points. I didn't even watch the whole video, but it doesn't seem to even show the leaderboard. You can play CoD without firing a bullet, it doesn't mean the game is flawed, and doesn't mean you can go well without shooting.

Well, since MS is a business, one would assume they don't give a crap who runs what on their servers as long as they get paid. So there is the option to A) use their servers or B) user an alternative.

Despite what the fanboys think, organisations don't have fueds with each other. At the end of the day they all care about money, and will do mostly whatever it takes to obtain more. You think Sony gives a crap if MS uses blu-ray?

They aren't "infecting" anything, they are the usual permissions that are on android/iOS. The latest facebook app update requires permission to view text messages to use.

You should also really look into the big companies use of data. Facebook and Google do very similar things, selling personal data for financial benefits.

You shouldn't be commenting on things you don't understand.

Just because the servers 'work' doesn't mean there aren't tests needed. Just because a graphics card 'works', doesn't mean you don't run tests to make sure a game won't screw up on it.

They may only have a tiny percentage of servers designated to running the game, and they are trying to find the correct amount to run it. What's the point of dedicated 50...

What the fuck do you people think betas are for? The whole purpose is to TEST these sort of things, to tweak code, make changes to code, stress test the servers, upgrade parts, find bottlenecks and improve them, and a whole bunch of other stuff.

World of Warcraft peaked at 12 million active subscribers, and they go down every single time a WoW expansion comes out. It's just how technology works.

Also if you think all 300,000 of those servers are running t...

That review is a guy complaining that the game ISN'T CoD, says a lot about his opinion. And he even says that he hasn't even played the game, he has simply WATCHED gameplay.

I've just played the beta on PC for 3 hours. Holy shit it is fun, so much better than I actually thought it was going to be. The game is so fast paced, and there is so much action going on, you don't even notice the graphics at all because you simply don't have time to stop and look or you will die.

The video was only uploaded two days ago by Steamworks Development, so presumably that was the reason for the blog.

Because, believe it or not, shit costs money to run.

You don't complain that you have to buy a car, and then pay for the petrol for it to run do you?

Sony has literally MILLIONS of people connecting to it's servers, that is a huge amount of bandwidth required, and they would have entire warehouses dedicated to server farms. Do you think they built them for free? Do you think they built them with all the money they were getting when they were selling P...

As next-gen as that sweet, sweet 30 FPS on the upcoming PS4 games.

That's what happens when there is a large number of children and social outcasts. It seems each year it gets worse.

Absolutely not. There are heaps of popular software not available on Linux, and while there are alternatives, some just aren't up to the professional standards that average and professional users expect and/or need. And that's not even counting how 'dumb' the typical computer user is, and there isn't really a Linux distro that offers total ease of use yet.

Companies that run Windows currently, and pay millions/billions in software to run on their computers...

In this context it's using the other meaning of fabled, which is basically highly anticipated/desired/whatever else.

I can't wait for this game, but yeah, everything is very flat and just have insane bump maps and the likes to make it look much better than it is, which in turn just makes it look "odd".

I've never played the infamous series for their graphics though, the gameplay from the original was one of the best gameplay experiences I have played.

Yeah, multiplayer ruins games, just look at how much Last of Us was affected by it... /s

Resolution and texture resolution are different. You can have high resolution game, but low resolution textures. This article is about the textures.

Higher texture resolution takes up large amounts of RAM and it very dependant on faster RAM to quickly load it into the GPU when it's needed, which is why PC's use GDDR5 RAM. There is also the fact that higher resolution textures require a greater amount of power to render.

I hope it doesn't contain the same mission system as Just Cause 2. Holy shit it was bad, but at least free roaming made up for it by being so fun.
