Yeah, I don't think there are any conspiracies. Delays happen. It's better they get it right rather than release it before it's ready. I just wish they didn't have to release both versions at the same time. If one is done before the other, than release it.
...because it takes half that time to correctly develop games for it.
This may be a good thing for 360 owners though. The fall lineup is already jam-packed. This'll give us something to look forward to in '08. Yes, ultimately is sucks that it's delayed, but what can you do.
Price cuts lead to sales increases. As soon as the price cut for the 360 becomes official sales will rapidly increase for awhile. With a price cut, Halo 3, other AAA titles, and the Christmas season, the 360 should have a strong showing in the second half of 2007.
1. How do these rumors start?
2. Who are the idiots who start them?
DVD9 will be fine for this generation. Future games will require HDD space to stream, and compression techniques are getting better. On top of that, I hear that load times are slightly better on DVD9.
Why should people who have a HDD suffer for the people without it? I think it's great that this is happening. What do people without a HDD do? Don't they ever shut their 360 off?
@ Deadly Fire: Unless I missed something, it says Aug 1, 2007: today.
Blue Dragon could only ever be a huge hit in Japan. The Japanese like mediocre games with happy, flashy characters for some reason. Hour of Victory is a broken game. It has so many glitches that it's virtually unplayable. I don't know what the publisher was thinking when it released it in that condition. They better be working on updates if they want it to sell.
I'm sick of all the fake "outrage" in the world today. People are "outraged" about this, "outraged" about that. Are they really. No. They're just attention seeking idiots. It's stupid crap like this that divides us.
Do they really think that the zombies in the trailer were black because people at Capcom are racist? WHAT A BUNCH OF CRYBABY IDIOTS!!! The zombies are black because of the setting! There weren't many (if any) black zombies in RE...
Why don't you quit typing idiotic things and go play your overly-hyped, redundant games like Lair.
I'm guessing that it's posted in PS3 news in the hopes of starting a flame war.
Condemned kept me on the edge of my seat. Condemned 2 will be even better. This game is best played in the dark.
Agreed. I played the Blue Dragon demo for about one minute, and I knew that it wasn't for me. I just don't get Japanese gamers. I've always thought that many games that they like were mediocre at best. Turn-based fighting? LAME.
I'm not a Sony fan, but Lair looked great. Should score high in the graphics department, but as we all know great graphics doesn't always equal great game.
...towards dragons. They apparently have a problem with mythical fire-breathing beasts and give low scores to games that feature them.
I'm very surprised about Lair, I thought it was supposed to be a big blockbuster. That must be a disappointment. Speaking of disappointments involving games that feature mythical creatures, how about that Vampire Rain. The trailer looked so cool, but most of the mags and websites hated it. It just goes to show that well produced trailers ca...
To answer the last question in the article, I chose my console (360) based on what games it had/has/will have, and not as a movie player. If I want a next gen movie player, I'll get one eventually, but I don't even have an HDTV right now.
If I wanted to watch HD movies though, I'd probably just rent them off of Xbox Live. That's the way the future will be anyway. After HD-DVD and BluRay are long gone, everything will be digital distribution.
If Blu Ray didn't make PS3 sales go through the roof, what makes you think HD-DVD would've made 360 sales go through the roof? Microsoft didn't include it in the console because they didn't want to charge the customer the extra $100. They left it as a choice, up to the consumer.
Yeah, PSN has a long way to go before it's on par with Live. Live has too many features and is very easy to navigate right now for PSN to even be in the same league. This article assumes that Live won't continue to evolve and upgrade.
Although, if PSN really catches on, then maybe Live will be free eventually too. I predict that Live will eventually be free, but with advertisements, and if you want no advertisements, then you pay the fee.
Why does Mass Effect look "meh"? Because it's a 360 exclusive? Sorry it's not on the PS3. M.E. could be game of the year.
Why all the hype about Killzone 2? Most people who played Killzone 1 said that it was mediocre at best. However, people are excited for KZ2 because it looks ABSOLUTELY AWESOME from the trailer...same as Mass Effect. Hopefully both games will live up to their great trailers.
I think you might be right. For older people especially, the novelty of the Wii will wear off, especially if they don't release a steady supply of games that will interest older people. Mario-this and Mario-that, and Cooking Mama: Cook Off won't cut it.
5 million preorders? $130,000,000.00, and it's not even on the shelves yet. It's already officially a blockbuster, 5 times over. Insanity I tell you, insanity!
I agree with everyone, it's very hard to pick a top 4. But since some boob at CNN can do it, I'll try to. I'll do it Letterman style.
4. Call of Duty 4: It stole the show at E3. Looks like they made the right call by ditching the WWII era for now.
3. Bioshock: I love the horror-surviva...
You're an idiot. Half the games you mentioned will be disappointments, like Lair. UT3 and GTA IV are both coming out for the 360. The 360 version of GTA IV will deliver the full experience, with exclusive extra content. It's also looking more and more like MGS4 will find its way to the 360 at some point.
Now people are jealous cuz a near perfect game is coming to the 360. Go to GameSpot.com and look at the rated games, and see which system is truly kicking ass. :-)
