As far as gaming quality, yes. I think the 360 will rule '08 just as it did '07. Although this year, the PS3 will be up to par with the 360 as far as game releases.
As far as attach rate goes, I see the 360 once again beating the PS3. The most passionate gamers seem to have chosen the 360.
As far as hardware goes, I see the PS3 outselling the 360, at least for the first half of '08. If Gears of War 2 comes out in the fall, the 360 might have a chance to win ...

Mass Effect and Oblivion are two phenomenal games. They are western RPG's. Western RPG's will do better on the 360 than eastern RPG's with turn based fighting.
I love M.E. and Oblivion, but don't think that I could ever get into Blue Dragon or Lost Odyssey.

Any form of entertainment that's not considered pure and wholesome will always be an easy target for politicians. Anyway, it was just a suggestion. Mass Effect may be my favorite game of the year. It's all I've been playing since its release. I've beaten it once and am on my second time through. I love the game, but would like to see a little more variety to the planets' terrain in the next installment.

Just like Xbox 1, I think the 360 will get some form of a Metal Gear game down the line. Konami even hinted that Metal Gear games will appear on other systems besides Sony. As far as MGS4: GOTP appearing on another console, my guess would be that it stays exclusive to PS3. As a previous poster said though, never say never.

Most people who bought the 360 didn't buy it for movies. Not to mention, MS will most likely release a BluRay drive in the future.
Most people buy one system over the other because they like the style of games better. I think western games are far superior to their eastern counterparts, for the most part. I think MS does a great job with Live. Any service will go down from time to time, including Nintendo's and Sony's. Live's issues shortly after the holidays caused some minor inconveniences for everyone, but we'll live. It would be nice to get a free week tacked on at the end of our subscriptions though.
You're right. If they release a new one too early, it will turn off a lot of people. The 360 isn't a cheap child's toy that people will want to dump after a short period of time.

I'm looking forward to the next Xbox, but I'm enjoying my 360 a lot. Having a new one come out at the end of 2009 is unnecessary. I hope it comes out at the end of 2010 or later.

What is it exactly you're playing beyond again? I don't know how anyone can think that the 360 is a failure. For a failure, it sure has captured a good portion of the market place and gotten a lot of PS2ers to jump ship. How will you judge the success of the PS3?
