I don't think Sony or MS even think about Nintendo as a rival.
They certainly don't react to any of their little announcements, or base future strategies on what Reggie and co are doing.

I'm far from a Microsoft fan, I don't like them for so many reasons, but I would pre-order a Scorpio over an NX in an instant.
Both companies have software problems (MS have problems with their "exclusives", Nintendo has problems with everything other than exclusives).
If you take Sony out of the picture (and PC wasn't a choice), I'd take Xbox games over Nintendo.
The others don't either, they just don't piss them off by being arrogant and unbending.
Neo isn't a replacement, Scorpio is.
It's power difference is generational. Only a matter of time before Scorpio owners demand their games aren't 'gimped' by the X1 version.
MS will produce Scorpio only games within a year of launch.

It has very few games and the games it has are only interesting to a small segment of consumers.
There has never been a console launch with no actual games available in history.
Nobody is literally saying it has "no games". We all know what he means.
Scorpio is too powerful an upgrade. It will be held back by the XOne (like X1 was by 360 versions of the same game).
Eventually the X1 will be dropped from more and more Scorpio games as they will want to get the most out of the system.
It's power difference is generational, and we all know what happens when games are developed for multiple generations at once. The most powerful system gets gimped.

I think they need to leave it awhile. It could be rebooted on the next console (a hell of a lot of missed potential on that game).

But he just announced that they aren't competing with Sony anymore. Sony sells consoles, Microsoft doesn't care about selling consoles (he says so in the interview).
They may as well talk about Apple in that case.

You may well get them later, or you may not be able to for whatever reason. Either way you can't count them as "your devices" if you don't own them.

At least they are coming for PS4.
Not sure how many X1 games will be transitioned to the Scorpio though (I dont believe for one second that MS won't ditch X1 support when Scorpio launches).
Maybe that's why they haven't announced anything significant in ages (as far as X1 games are concerned).
I'd rather wait for something amazing than wait equally long for nothing worthwhile.
It isn't a "megaton announcement" if all the details are known before the event.
It kind of needs to be a surprise for that.

They had a load of the "world's best" marketing strategists that prepared them for the Xbox One reveal too.
I'm pretty sure Kinect 2 had an "expert" marketing strategy too.
It keeps it cheaper, I'm pretty sure they could have fitted it into the s without making the console bigger, that sounds like a PR fudge to me.
It has to be #3 I think, #2 being the Xbox One reveal which incorporated the Kinect 2 failure.
Don't be drawn in. PSVR on PS4 has been used by many thousands of people and there are no reports of poor performance (even the determined can only attack the content, not the hardware).
PSVR was specifically designed for PS4, not Neo. It works perfectly well on a PS4 as everyone who has used it has testified.
