MS hasn't designed or developed those "Third-party VR headsets" they are spending $0.00 on VR and their entrance to the VR sphere is simply a knee jerk reaction to PSVR's success.

It is a flat rectangle with zero ergonomic concessions. It is awkward to hold and only made because it was cheaper than the far superior joysticks that were industry standard at the time.

I had BC on my PS3 and used it once. It was something that seemed important to me but I didn't even use it.
