Lol, this is ridiculous. It's an article about how the latest consoles perform particle/lighting calculations and it breaks down into yet another pissing contest.
This time it was started by overly defensive MS fans screaming 'foul' because PS4 is mentioned in A MULTI-CONSOLE ARTICLE (I mean how dare they)? But I know that just as many if not more threads get derailed by Sony fans who can't resist having a dig at every opportunity.
The thing ...
"PS4 will be a wild success" that's really going out on a limb with crazy predictions. After all, who else could have made that call after such a rocky start?
Pachter must be some kind of genius time-travelling wizard. /S
@Pogmathoin
That would be a valid point if Sony hadn't been saying for several weeks beforehand that they intended to have stocks ready for the launch. They couldn't very well sell the inFamous bundle before the game was released.
@malokevi
I agree, this is my most played game of this generation, I've been playing it since the PS4 launched and still play many hours every week. Superb gameplay, great graphics, I just love it.
I actually invested in some currency, not because I wanted to proceed more quickly but because I felt guilty that I was having so much enjoyment for so many hours for free.
The devs deserved my money and I was happy to give it to them (even though I'...
Or a kinect based puzzle game.
Plus as the article says Sony seems quite content to sit back and allow Oculus to test the waters first. There is no race to be the first to launch here, if Oculus flops, Morpheus will never likely see the light of day.
Good article, I'm surprised it comes from Polygon as it seems well considered.
@Gozer
" Wonder what kind of hypocrisy will be brought to the internet now."
Well the last great hypocritical moment came when so many Xbots were talking about how amazing Oculus Rift VR tech was for months (until it was confirmed that Sony had a very similar system in the works). Suddenly VR was nothing but a doomed gimmick and inferior to kinect (of all things).
@Gozer
It was all about the main focus.
Microsoft stated themselves that they weren't looking for the most powerful games machine and that their main priority was multi-media over gaming.
Sony built a game machine that can also handle multi-media.
Also please understand that the XB1 is not an "all-in-one" media machine as you require other boxes to be plugged into it. It is simply a marketing campaign.
...
I always assumed it was being made for XB1 alongside PS4. I seriously didn't realise it hadn't been announced.
@Klad
" All i see is GRAPHICS, GRAPHICS, GRAPHICS, GRAPHICS, 1080p, 1080p,1080p,1080p, 60fps, 60fps, 60fps, 60fps,"
If you don't want to see 1080p 60fps all the time just read more XB1 reviews.
Seriously though, I think TitanFall got an extremely good reception despite lackluster graphics, gameplay was the first priority in reviews, articles etc.
Yeah, why bother making any more games at all for X1 as they're obviously too busy playing Killer Instinct. Quite a silly comment, should they not make another FPS now you have TitanFall?
Agreed, if for example TitanFall 2 comes out with all the niggles ironed out, more great modes introduced, vastly improved graphics and AI, decent single player campaign etc whilst making it even more fun to play, are they going to give it 11/10?
By all accounts TitanFall is a great game, and one that's better than the sum of its parts but it does have numerous shortcomings, for that reason alone I think a 9 is unjustified.
You can only ever cause 'mild annoyance' (like a slightly itchy scrotum), as I have a high tolerance for the deficiencies of the "thought impaired".
Not everyone is as daft as you.
So a fair and honest review by someone who is obviously fond of the game but finds it has some short-comings = a stealth attack on that game in order to avenge a less than stellar review on a completely unrelated game of a different genre on a separate system?
Can you name a single point of view expressed in the review that isn't in some way justified (even if it differs from yours?).
Seriously, grow up. A...
@Allastocata
You really ought to look into how they obtained that monopoly. Hired goons, intimidation, illegal back-room deals, blackmail, threats etc.
MS thought they were too big and powerful to be touched by the government, Bill Gates said he was more Powerful than the US President (seriously, look into it, you'll find it reads like they're the silicone mafia).
Not a standard review, just explains the gameplay mechanics and such for the most part. I think his opinion and verdict are sound enough though.
They're taking their time as they are having to gimp the 360 version (the current build outperforms the XBone by 33%).
Lol, see not a hint of poetry in your reply. Point proven!
@Scott182
It's kind of the other way around, the GPU does the computation itself without having to wait to communicate with the CPU, thus speeding up the process and freeing up CPU resources.
