Exactly! It baffles me that people are perfectly ok with this form of censorship, but throw a shit-fit when a Western localization censors a swear word or covers a nipple. You're either for censorship or against it, but you can't be both. It's hypocritical to cherry-pick what is ok to censor and what isn't based on your own beliefs.
Yeah it's crazy how avidly some people are defending this game. Don't get me wrong, I've been waiting for this game ever since it was announced. Nate defeats a lot of the villains from previous games with either good timing or sheer dumb luck (e.g. the Guardians showing up at the right time to take out Lazarevich, the rope being in the right spot to drag Navarro underwater, the rope holding the treasure conveniently being above Rafe's head, etc). I don't let reviews make up my mind. But reviews give you more info than previews, trailers, and marketing material do. You get more of a run-down of the story, gameplay, and the weird quirks a game might have, while also getting a general idea on a game's pros and cons. And sometimes there are games that just look really bland and uninteresting from the trailers, but you read the reviews for it and think "oh, that actually doensn't sound too bad. I'm a bit worried about how many people are saying the start of the game is really boring (having the car break down and doing fetch-quests for Cidney doesn't sound particularly interesting) and that the story takes a back-seat to the open-world side quests. I'm also a bit worried that he said major characters are killed off-screen with no explanation. That...doesn't sound promising.
I wouldn't say she's submissive per se. She was outgoing, headstrong, and sometimes jumped first before thinking. She ran a rebel group before FFVIII started, and often helped the team when they were in trouble (e.g. forcing Irvine to go back and rescue the team from D-district prison).
That's something I've always liked about FF characters. They all feel like real people, with both flaws and good traits. Even the "damsel in distress" has her bad...

I hhate to break it to you, but our "humane" way of killing animals for meat isn't much better. Shoving animals into a truck to stand for hours on end in the freezing cold or scorching heat, followed by a bolt to the head thay doesn't aleays instantly kill....I lovemeat as much asthe next meat-eater, but let's not pretend our meat industry is completely cruelty free.

Andrew Ryan's main problem was that he went against his own ideals though (and that he eventually went insane). His politics weren't bad, per se. Just incredibly difficult to implement in real life.
If you can get past the old graphics, I'd recommend giving FFVI a try. Easily one of the best in the series.
Yeah, I never got the impression we were there to "save" Rapture. I don't know where the author got that from. For most of the game, Jack's goal is simply to escape Rapture because he believes the plane crash was accidental. Even after it was revealed Jack was nothing more than Fontaine's puppet, the goal still isn't to save Rapture. Fontaine knows that Rapture is beyond saving; that's why his goal is to use ADAM to extend his power to the surface.
Drink driving isn't a "mistake". You don't just 'accidentally' drink until you're over the limit, get into a car, insert the key, turn on the ignition and start driving. That is a CHOICE to put other peoples' lives in danger. Unfortunately, this idiot's choice not only killed himself, but his friend too.
Maybe try watching the actual video because it's an interesting little dissection into how developers program something as simple as blinking into a game.
Absolutely epic! The part towards the end where all the violins are playing in sync is amazing. Took me right back to my childhood and choked me up.
