Squall was stabbed in the shoulder and fell off a parade float onto his back. Sure, it would hurt, but it was hardly a deadly "30 foot drop into his head".

Sure, FFVIII has some funny writing (e.g. There's no radio communication in the world, but a highly advanced space program exists?) but I never thought the end of Disc one was a plot hole. Edea obviously healed Squall to interrogate him. The dramatic fall from the parade float was nothing more than a drama...

It's a joke from Parks and Rec. Don't be so offended.

I think it's a damn shame that Kefkas default Dissidia outfit doesn't stick to the green/red combo that his sprite wore. I like his overall look in the Dissidia games (and it really emphasises how ridiculous it was to hire THIS clown faced weirdo as a general!) but I miss his original look.

Yeah I don't care about freedom if the story isn't compelling or complete.

So I'm guessing you didn't play the part where Kefka's backstory is revealed to be quite tragic.

He wasn't just mad for the sake of being mad. He was a victim of the Empire and their not-yet-perfected experiments to create Magitek knights.

That's a pretty cool cosplay and more accurate to the official character design. Though I also like the cosplay in the article as an artistic interpretation of Kefka. It's not too outlandish that he would wear something like that, what with his love of makeup and obsession with himself.

I don't see how its a bad thing to portray domestic abuse. If anything it might help abused kids and teens who play the game who don't have their own Kara to protect them IRL. They can escape to a world where they do have someone there to help them through it.

DId you actually use Rinoa in your party though? I often hear people complain that the romance was shoe-horned in, but it wasn't until I replayed the game that I realized there is a huuuuge difference between the romance when Rinoa is in the party than when she is rarely used. When she is always in the party, the romance doesn't feel shoe-horned at all.

Yeah I don't know where the author is getting that Kefka and Kuja are anything alike. The beginning of their story is slightly similar (both are created by corrupt government experiments and both work behind the scenes to manipulate others) but Kuja initially wants to rule the world with the power of the eidolons and only changes his mind to want complete planet destruction when he discovers he only has a limited lifespan. He has a very "If I'm going to die, everyone else should ...

I'd say it has a lot to do with the Japanese lifestyle too. A lot of people have long commutes to work, not a lot of free time spent at home, and small apartments/houses. So it's easier to have a small portable gaming system or mobile phone that doesn't take up a lot of room, and that you can play on the way to work.

I loved how the little girl was animated too. She moved a little awkwardly and not very graceful, like a real child does.

Even worse than Golden Abyss?

I love opening credits because they et you amped up for the game you're about to play without throwing you straight into the action.

I feel that way about movies too. I miss opening credits in movies because they often hyped you up for what was about to happen

I dunno, I think Red in a Shinra uniform could still work. The joke in the original was that nobody on the ship notices the giant red lion with a flame tail sticking out his pants obviously isn't a Shinra soldier. So the joke still works with realistic graphics. It's funny because the terrible disguise is super obvious.

I thought Vaan's creepy abs were supposed to get fixed in the remaster?

Sad but true. It's just like when people whine about censorship when it involves upskirt shots of schoolgirls or jiggling boob physics, yet they don't utter a peep when a male character's dick is censored or a Japanese boys-love game is refused classification.

I think a lot of it had to do with expectations. FFX was one of the most popular games in the series, so a lot of people were disappointed when FFXI ended up being an MMO. They were hoping FFXII would be in a similat vein to FFX, with an emphasis on person character-driven driven story. So they ended up disappointed again when it ended up being a dry, political plot with a MMO-esque battle system.

I've been looking forward to hair textures becoming more detailed this gen. Hair has looked crappy every gen (until a few years ago), so it's nice that the detail in characters' hair is finally catching up to the detail in characters' faces.

Most of the people Drake fought seemed to have some form of fighting ability...but not necessarily martial arts training. Most of the people he fought were clumsy, slow and better with weaponry than hand-to-hand combat. Drake was skilled in fighting (hence why he typically won), but he was more of a street brawler than anything else. It's not too much of a stretch of the imagination that a trained martial artist like Nadine could outfight him.
