I think you are misunderstanding the "crafting" the article is referring to.
Its not Minecraft "clones", but games that utilize similar mechanics, voxels mainly. There are quite a few game out like this.
It basically digital blocks. Loved blocks as a kid.
Crafting games are fun, so I disagree.
From the Depths is a great Early access title. (Just a plug for a criminally overlooked game.)
What's also unfair, is numerous articles devoted the horrors of Early Access and the very few that look at the positives.
I get it, news is news, but its really no wonder people think its the devil incarnate.
Early Access was, and is a success. In fact I'm genuinely surprised how the devs have been adapting to it. Across the board, communication has increased quite a lot, even games with a single developer.
Are there going to be some ...
While I disagree that it was a giant mess, I do agree that clearly labeling games that have already been released and are new to Steam.
That's my only major gripe though. I'm against Steam trying to sort what "it" deems as garbage though.
That's kinda the problem with a lot of choice, you have to work choosing.
Space Engineers
Kinetic Void
From The Depths
Planet Explorers
Assetto Corsa
Starpoint Gemini 2
Prison Architect
and many more...
Disagree. Just because you tend to focus on the few bad apples does not mean Early Access is a scam. There are plenty of very playable games that use it.
Technically the development for Destiny is in the $165 million range.
Though I maintain that people need to manage expectations, I'm starting to see this as well.
I think it will be done, but its a lot to grasp. That could be how we see it on the outside or a problem they are having, I don't know.
I'm willing to withhold absolute judgement until 6 months to a year from now and see where its at. It may take them finding the right "groove".
EDIT: I'm not seeing a "scam", just s...
Was this game even moving X1s and would it even continue to do so?
I mean, I understand it fell in the "good-not-great" area of general opinion, is that a "system seller" area?
I personally don't have much interest in the game but I can't see it as a lifetime system seller. Maybe if was going to be the start of a franchise, but I don't see that happening.
I'm a huge fan of Early Access and though there some initial rough spots, I've noticed a significant increase in communication. Early Access has improved quite a lot.
This situation is entirely unacceptable. We may not be entitled to know the the details of traditionally developed/published games but Early Access requires detailed communication, especially when it comes to a 4 month hiatus.
As was said, it might be, but there is a rumor that Windows 9 is going to be pretty cheap.
You're welcome to an opinion as everybody here is. I disagree completely with you. Fact is there is very little correlation between what is represented in a game and real life.
The level of discourse, however, depends quite a bit on your argument being genuine in the first place, which I have a hard time believing.
Or to put it more plainly, obvious troll is obvious.
EDIT: same is true for the article.
When light hits skin, most of it reflects back but some penetrates the surface and "scatters".
Think, wax.
"Is that what you want? The industry's game direction dictated by people with a specific socio-political agenda?"
So you want others to conform to your world view?
All I see is getting rid of one agenda and replacing it for another.
If gamers have proven anything, its that they are more than willing to go against a bad review. And certainly more than willing to voice their opposition.

Censorship?
Seriously, remember Jack Thompson? Hell, remember the 90's? That was a time of potential censorship and that was a man "legally" championing its cause.
I'll break this down for you. There are, as I see it, 2 ways one could "censor" a game.
1. Legally. By going up through the courts and having Congress (which has been great at 'not' doing things) to pass a law.
Huge problem with ...
So IFred responds and..... *crickets*
"Ethics" would have been posting an update regardless whether it supported one side or the other.
I would hope that if "ethics in games journalism" is indeed the main issue, that N4g wouldn't left without all the facts. Even if those facts possibly run counter to prevailing opinion.
Does it matter that she responded or not? Probably not.
It seems that Piranha is in some hot water for other things as well and are being "hyper-scrutinized" at the moment. So pretty much anything they are doing is under a microscope, including this game.
Call it bad timing in an already ugly situation.
Wait, Star Citizen has actual, playable, content, how is that less than a trailer?
Not saying you can't prefer one over the other, but really, there has been no end to the discussion about Star Citizen.
I think if it were just a new space sim entering the genre there might not be an issue, but it seems Piranha games stepped in a bit of mess, whether its of their doing or not. That's likely why this is happening.
Because in their mind gamers love DLC so much they would rather buy a game piecemeal instead of having anything resembling a full game up front.
They see the financials, see that DLC is making a boat load of cash, and draw from that gamers prefer DLC.
They see only money, games are just a product.
I'm on the fence about it. On the one hand recommendations are fine, on the other I really prefer making my own decisions.
This is why I oppose segregating games beyond re-releases.(old games new to Steam) I'm "afraid" of missing a gem that might otherwise be considered crap. I prefer my own judgement first.
Other problems I have are not being able to jump to the forums from the store page. I like seeing what is being discussed overall. If e...
