No, it isn't for the PC. But for consoles its a bit different. First of all the console user base just isn't keen on the idea in general.
More importantly though, is the entire console business model. Sony and MS have complete control over those systems and would have to support the titles through succeeding generations and/or closure, which is unlikely given their past.
On PC there are ways around that. If Valve shut down we could find ways to get o...
First, how do you define a "Broken mess"? Gamer tend to be a hyperbolic bunch and when find a glitch, the game is broken. Sure there are examples of completely broken game that are literally not playable for anyone at all, but that is a very small number.
Secondly, why is Valve responsible for the refunds and not the developer or the publisher? For Valve, this wouldn't be a huge deal, but they are just the distribution service and can't be liable for their e...
1. Define a broken game.
This is a much more complicated issue since what's "broken" from person to person varies quite a lot. Granted there are instances where games are broken for 100% of the folks that play them, but that doesn't include something like Skyrim.
2. Get a refund if the game doesn't match the description.
Again, this is not just a simple issue. WarZ had described features that literally were not in the g...
Except Guild Wars 2 provides consistent content with no monthly fee.
Seriously, these days, you don't actually have to charge $15 a month for an MMO.
I do think a subscription is still a viable model, but its one of many. I don't think they should charge $60 for the game and a sub after though.
There's no way to know as the author of this garbage didn't present both sides and instead just decided to rage about it.
It sounds very much like he didn't like the way the game was turning out and wouldn't shut up about it. At least that's what I'm getting from the rather stern response from SMS.
Either way, this guy wasn't banned for his opinion, but for being really annoying. Besides, it didn't sound like he was that intere...
Wait, where's all the posts from the guy who was banned?
Sounds to me like he was banned, not for his opinion, but for never shutting up about it. In which case he deserved it.
I'm actually more concerned with how this article was written. It makes it sound like the poor, solitary voice of opposition was banned the minute he had the courage to speak up.
This is the internet, we know that is BS. Clearly this article is missing the oth...
1. Its not coming to current gen (PS3/360) consoles, only next gen.
2. Not all of the gamers that have the game have super high end machines. I haven't heard anything about it being overly demanding like Crysis.
3. If you are still curious, there are quite a few on N4g that have the game. Though its still in Alpha at this point so judging the final product based on that might be difficult.
4. As for the next gen versions, I am not aware ...
And the alternative is?
We certainly did't use GFWL, which is why it was shut down.
MS has very little to do with PC gaming and that's fine, we really don't need GFWL 2.
Not surprising at all.
When it comes to PC gaming MS hardly exists beyond Windows. They only exist that much because there isn't an alternative.
Strange as it sounds, MS and PC gaming don't mix. Been that way since GFWL.
Pot meet Kettle
We don't live in the Roman Empire any longer. Christianity is doing pretty well for itself, perhaps a little better than it has any right to given its sordid past.
Christianity was able to halt scientific progress for quite a while, but its a bit harder to imprison and/or execute scientists these days so... Intelligent Design.
In order to make up the huge losses that digital retailers would take, they would have to charge more for games.
Sure it sounds great to trade back our old games for new ones but its all a loss on the retailer side. You can't resell nothing.
When it comes to digital I'm fine with not being able to resell. When you buy digital games you get something for your money regardless of whether its tangible or not. Valve, or any other retailer would essentially be buying nothing. There has to be something tangible they can resell. Basically it would kill the digital market as retailers would literally be giving money away.
WTF? N64 superior to PC?
Sorry, but no. I also had a PC the same time N64 came out and it was no contest. PC gaming was still kind of niche back then and there wasn't much cross-platform play but PC was FAR superior in the graphics department.
That's a pretty inflammatory article. I don't know what they did or didn't do but there's no reason to be such douche about it.
Looking at comparison videos, is not proof of actual guilt. Unless they broke in to Ubisoft and stole the actual data they didn't steal anything, I would be careful making such bold claims.
Whatever point this article was trying to make was lost in the dickish tone.
So selling and unfinished product for less in most cases...bad?
When I hear a comments about "financial risk" coming from a culture that pre-orders the hell out of everything based on a couple screenshots, I laugh.
Its an option. and if you choose to buy in to it, then in becomes a risk.
There really wouldn't be a problem if gamers weren't such stupid consumers.
Still, better looking than Rambo.
Why are we comparing 2 different pieces of software again?
Its one thing to debate which is better between the same software, but that's not what is happening here.
Its like doing and analysis on the console version of Skyrim versus the PC version with mods.
So how are you to build an install base with out releasing the product to build that install base?
Valve is not looking for the quick turn around. Going up against Windows in the PC space is going to take years. Windows is the standard with no competition and has been that for many years.
Its only a problem if you believe the Steam Machines must rival console sale on release day. That isn't going to happen, nor is Valve trying to do that. They will let t...
So if having an opinion makes one "entitled", what does that make you?
You are "entitled" to your opinion, but that really doesn't make the writing "amazing" by any standards of the actual medium. In fact, it was good subplots linked together by a horrible, last minute plot.
Yes, the MP was surprisingly good and the subplots were well written, but the entire main plot was an absolute mess. Well below the standards Bioware set...
I sense something missing from this story. People getting in an uproar over this clearly had a reason to assume the option would be there. Its not like people are freaking out at every release that has a solo male/female protagonist. I've never heard of the game so I'm not sure.
I still think that fiasco over Remember Me was manufactured to a certain extent for publicity reasons. It seemed every article leading up to the release was about the devs/game being victimize...
