I am with you, I would have paid 50 to 100$ more for a better CPU/GPU combo!
However, there is no such thing as "hardware that can run all games at 1080p 60fps" well, unless games are designed to target this (render every frame under all circumstances in 16ms, no matter what's going on on the screen).
Now the PS4 has been often close enough and I can't recall any game except Thief that has sustained drops below 30fps at 1080p (maybe it's...
The thing is, has anyone seen on what system this test was run a core i7 with an R9 290X...
This works really well on an example that is certainly not bandwidth or fill rate limited (and it was shown many times before).. this is really great for PC gamers.
Bringing in Vulcan, or any other PS4 API in this discussion is a bit strange, there is a discussion to be had, but from the get go placing draw calls on the PS4 was NEARLY free (emphasis on nearly), I don&...
The problems are not PR based, PR only does the communication around the product (they explain and try to sugar coat it's hardware and features to the public)...
Now if one or both are off target (one could argue that the XB1 as it was when announced it was off the mark both in therms of software, policies AND hardware)... this is the results of a series of bad decisions that came about when the project was started around 2009/10, MS sold tons and tons of Kinect, people w...
@ThinkThink
Common don't act stupid, ever since the xb1 was released some people (most not devs) have said it would be a game changer, like the cloud, titanfall, some secret sauce chip, etc.
I lost track of all these features that would suddenly make the xb1 viable competition to the PS4 performance wise... but everybody who has been around since the announcement has seen the spawns of misterXmedia in action all over the web.
@RocketScienceLvlStuf
Spencer was pretty reasonable in the expectations he has set in therms of performance "boost" that people could expect out of DX12 on the XB1 (very little, in some cases nothing... some very specific, rare, cases dramatic).
This is because a lot of the features are already in its DX11 implementation... oh well, let them dream a little longer, it's as if the PS4 crowd would expect it to out-pace a top of the line PC whenever...
I would barely notice them if there was no news about them in the gaming press... they take like a second to install (maybe 3 minutes if you read the information carefully).
What a strange ting to be upset about.
@XBLskull
PS systems have been able to turn on your TV/audio receiver since the PS3, as less ng as you use hdmi...
Heck, I even control netflix (and other media apps) with my TV remote... Sure, there is no "xbox on" but if the rest of the sysyem is clunky, hard to navigate and install tines slower what good is it really?
There is no parallel there, the genesis was released almost two years before the SNES, yet it could trade blows with tthe newer machine and surpass it in many ways (flickers and slowdowns anyone?)
The older machines also had completely different architectures, which made most ports very different across both machines, it was really nothing like modern machines.
The XB1 is just a lesser machine, there is no redeeming quality to it.
Well that's the xbox pod cast, they prefer faceless space marines...
I think the only reason suspend and resume gets this attention is because it was used as flame bait by the XB1 crowd to claim some sort of superiority... sure it's a nice to have, like fast install times and share-play, I don't any of those features make or break a purchase (I hope not).
While I get the push for PC version of pretty much every game out there, if only for preservation purposes... I don't think they have to do it, Sony would not allow one of their IPs to be released on PC, they would not do this for Uncharted, God of War, etc. why Bloodborne all of a sudden?
Yup, after well over 20 million PS4s were sold without any game, Sony finally get 1 game released on their system, almost a year and a half after shipping the first batch of consoles!!! people obviously bought their PS4s to attract dust away from their XB1, it takes two PS4s to attract the dust away from the XB1, one on each side, this explains the sales ratio too, this is the truth, people play games on the XB1 because it has all those exclusive smash hits and cross platform are just as good...
60 hour game 60$
40 hour game 40$
it's simple, won't developers ever learn!!! what a RIP OFF!!!

Nice..... Won't try, no time, but I used to be a sucker for "beta" OSes on anything! It's probably not very risky, unledd he sneaked in some bitcoin mining software!
I love Uncharted4, but I'm also kind of relieved, I though it was the consensus that the PS4 had wayyyyyy too many games coming out this year, so one less, no matter how big a deal it is... Is not such a big problem.
I do however question the sanity of some posters here, how can we go from amazing lineup to "no games next holiday" with 1 delayed game? Someone will have to explain how the conversation took this turn....
The thing is that the PS2 had the games library to attract people... and well, many people wanted and og xbox because it was the most powerful console of its time (comparable to the GameCube, but overall it seemed better).
The XB1 has none of these benefits, other than people buying it mainly for its brand (strange I know) it has nothing.
The Wii bursted into the scene in late 2006, sold about 100 million units in no time and nobody talked about it anymore by 2010 :-/
I would say it had no legs.
@Jalva
That must be why we see all those MS owned IPs in the top 10 sellers all year long... oh wait..
Honestly, this is getting old, Uncharted titles/God of War and The Last of Us are all system sellers, Grand Tourismo is a behemoth of a system seller... Bloodborne is not even released and it already sold tons of consoles! Infamous:SS sold quite a bit of consoles last year too... so on and so forth, obviously, nothing is quite like a Mario Kart or Zelda titl...
It probably had to do with other aspects of the rumored game, then again... I doubt that there is any kind of gameplay that cannot somehow be adjusted to fit a modern console.
Obviously, I have not seen everything... and well the GPU in the XB1 is far from cutting edge, is attached to slow memory, etc. DX1 may help the CPU talk to it more efficiently, but the actual drawing happens at the same speed.
and this is what gamers gate is really about, shame on anyone who affiliated themselves with these horrible people in any way.
