The touch-controls of tablets/smartphones are lackluster. At least, when looking at the type of games you're playing on consoles. Either way - The Wii U isn't a tablet - so I don't know why people are even going there. All it has is a large touchscreen. Take out the touchscreen and the Wii U would just be a really big controller.
The GamePad is a quite revoloutionary step, again. The Wii Remote was a TV-Remote hybrid, with motion capabilities. That was cool. Now the ...
All-in-all, I'm fine with this price point. Yes it's late, no doubt - But then again, unlike the half~baked ports the system got at launch - Criterion actually took some time out to optimize the game for the Wii U. They:
- Added the first DLC "Ultimate Speed Pack" and new modes
- Improved the visuals (Uses PC textures and assets, more high-quality look, more detailed roads, improved lighting, draw-distance tweaked)
- Added ...
Alright, so the PS4 uses GDDR and the Nextbox uses DDR.
Which does Wii U use? Or is that not completely confirmed?
FINALLY - Someone who uses logic "CouldHaveYelledUiiW" ; - Hats off to you good sir.
"If it ain't selling now, it ain't gonna sell later."
- Well by that logic, the XBOX 360, PS3 and 3DS should have all flopped eons ago. Once Microsoft got it's hardware errors resolved, and developers got good quality games releasing, the 360 took off.
- Once devs started getting good quality games releasing, and it got a price cut - the PS3 took off to. Same scenario with the 3DS.
All consoles launch on a rough road, so...
People are whining over Nintendo not including a USB-charging option for the Gamepad from the get-go, saying they're "cheap" for doing so?
My goodness, you Ninty haters will find anything under the sun to complain about. Like just having an AC-adapter option is the end of the world. Don't have enough sockets? By a blasted surge protector......
Well this is generalization to the max.
I AM interested in third-party games. A number of up-coming Wii U games that I have on my radar are third-party.
I'm a one-console gamer because my game life revolves around what my parents are willing to spend and when they are willing to spend it. Later down the line, hopefully I'll accquire a PS4 or 720, which ever one I'm most interested in - but certainly not as quickly as I got my Wii U. Simply because I know m...
Well my dad got me a Wii U when I was on vacation last winter. I've been loving it! Took it to a friend's house, and we all played Nintendo Land and it was a blast.
The Gamepad adds a whole new level of depth to gaming, with the use of it's touchscreen, mic, gyroscope and accelerometer.
It's a great console, with a whole lot of untapped potential. I've been loving it since Day 1, and many others have too.
Just because YOU ...
Frozenbyte - Has Trine 2 running on the Wii U with the PC assets.
Criterion - Has Need for Speed: Most Wanted U running on the Wii U with the PC assets.
Ubisoft - Has Watch Dogs running on the Wii U based off the PC version.
~ Note the pattern we're seeing here - "Wii U has games running based off the PC versions". The 360/PS3 games usually fell short of their PC counterparts. They looked close, but PC usually had an edge. The f...
I agree with all the points except for the price cut point.
- I see people whining and crying for a price cut, which would be nice in such a lousy economy. No doubt, the console is expensive - but Nintendo has already said that they're selling the system at a cheaper price than it takes to make it.
So in actuality - the $300/$350 price tag is actually a GOOD thing. Sure, it's a lot to invest in, but that's the lowest they could get it at this poin...
It's not a leap. It's an ENHANCED PORT. This isn't a game that was made from the ground up on the Wii U. It uses the PS3/360 geometry, with the high-res PC textures, improved draw distance and framerate and enhanced nightime. If these are a results of a port, then an original Wii U racing game should look even better.
If the Wii U version of "Project CARS" looks anything like the screenshots and footage that have been released so far - then that's a real &quo...
My goodness. The console is in it's infancy - a THREE MONTH infancy. Give it some time to mature, then worry.
It already has a goid lineup for this year. Next month brings the first three awesome titles:
Need for Speed Most Wanted U
Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate
LEGO CITY UNDERCOVER
Give the Wii U some time. Devs are in the prime of the 360 and PS3's life , and are still trying to learn the U's hardware. Remember how ...
That's what differs the Wii U from the 720 and PS4. While those two are fisting it out in the "power" ring, Wii U will be enjoying the spotlight of Innovation and Creativity.
The Gamepad excels even beyond the revolution of the Wiimote. It opens up some serious doors, and can really change up the playing field.
Once again, Nintendo held back from trying to make a powerhouse - for it is not necessary. They once again took the creative route, and ...
They're comparing them to current gen consoles, because that's it's stand-by competition. Also the fact that Nintendo has only now gone HD shows why people are comparing it to the PS3 and 360.
It doesn't make it "pathetic" - just seeing how far it's come, and it's only going to look better with time.
If these are the results of an enhanced port, 3 months into it's lifetime, I'd love to see how things will turn out on a game built from the ground up, a little while from now (when devs really get their heads wrapped around the tech.)
For a only "slightly better than current-gen" console, the Wii U is looking wonderful. Bah! It packs a punch, people. May not be as big and powerful as the PS4 and 720 - but that DOES NOT mean the difference will be as vast as...
Maybe because:
- Wii is much cheaper (This economy isn't exactly healthy)
- Has a wider variety of games.
- Is more well known.
Wii U will pick up eventually, just give it a little time. The console is only three months into it's lifetime, and doesn't have much games going for it. But by the end of this year, things SHOULD start to pick up, as it would have accquired a healthy amount of good games.
Yeah, really poor.
Poor enough to have already incorporated PC assets in three of it's games.
- Trine 2
- Need for Speed: Most Wanted U
- Watch Dogs
. . . Yeah, really poor hardware.
It has already bern confirmed to be released in November of this year.
This news couldn't be any older. This was known from since the beginning of the year.
- Regardless of how the author feels about the Wii U ~ by definition it's an eighth-generation home console, that's competing with the PS4 and 720.
For all who are claiming that the Wii U is 7th-gen, by terms of power - Let's look at a few things:
~ Power doesn't make a new console "next-gen" or not. That has never been the case. If a console is released in a different time period than it's predecessor, or if it's a newcomer ...
