Here, here! I am proud that I haven't bought a COD game since MW1. Used to like COD, but it has become way too much of an arcade shooter for me. Not only that, the series has gone steadily downhill on the PC. 48 player dedicated servers with MW1 and now we're down to 18 players on P2P hosted games. NO THANKS! I'll stick with DICE and the BF series; they know how to make proper PC games.
That's why I like DICE as a developer: they never forgot about their PC roots and put a lot of extra effort into the PC version of BF3. I've haven't bought a COD game since MW1 and doubt I will again. They have gone steadily downhill on the PC and, besides, I don't care for the overly arcade action it has become (I did like the first two on PC, though). Battlefield all the way!
It's really apparent when they show the sub scene starting at the 1:33 mark. Look at the lines on the building in the center; the one to the right of the player's crosshairs. They're jaggy and move on the 360, wildly flashing on the PS3, and extremely clean on the PC. That PS3 footage looked really bad there. And, I say that as a PC/PS3 owner. If I were to get this game, it would definitely be the PC version.
Though I agree with much you stated, I think the problem was that you said "sh!tbox 360". That will probably get you reported for trolling every time.
That and BF never forgot about it's PC roots despite moving over to console. COD on PC has been going downhill since MW1 while DICE continues to put out good games across all platforms. As a PC gamer, I love DICE and hate being treated as a "second class citizen" by COD/Activision. I mean look at their latest insult: dedicated servers are unranked! What's the point of having them then?
Here is yet another example of a title of an article getting changed and somehow getting approved. The original title is "5 Reasons Modern Warfare 3 Multiplayer Rules". It got changed to "5 Reasons Modern Warfare 3 Multiplayer Rules & Tops Battlefield 3". After reading the article, there is not one mention of BF3, yet the submitter felt the need to change the title. COD fanboy or something? Why the hell do these things get approved. Either keep the same title or REPORT...
Yep, one of the primary benefits of being a PC gamer: cheap digital downloads. If you look at the bottom of the link, they also have BF3 for $30 (with the LE version for $45). It will be quite a while before console versions of either game are that cheap. I was going to pass on MW3, but at this price, I may change my mind.

The title is deceiving, especially when they concede the fact in the last paragraph that it doesn't include digital sales. PC download sales are going to be at least double the retail sales; most PC gamers don't get their games at retail anymore. I know I didn't and I know not one of the members of my gaming community have either. I'm guessing that the PC sales are closer to 1.5 million than the 500 thousand the article is stating. Surprised anyone takes VGChartz as gospel (wh...
"This is N4G, the place of people knee-jerking by just the title alone instead of actually reading stuff." Are you sure it's the knee people jerk around here?
Huh? BF2 had jets and prone. Or, are you confusing it for BFBC2 (Bad Company 2)?
@Punch-o, the problem with that article is that the stats are constantly changing throughout the day and different platforms will be leading (which tells me sales are pretty equal across all platforms). For instance, just checked and 360 has the top number of BF3 users: 360-232k, PS3-177k, and PC-175k. Other times I have checked, PC has been in the lead or the PS3. My guess is that it really depends on the time of day.

That's called "playing the objective". COD campers, on the other hand, tend to hang out in buildings or hiding in corners while not playing the objective and only caring about their K/D ratio and whether they're going to get their next killstreak or not. I see a big difference. Protecting a Conquest flag or Rush M-com station is playing the objective. Hiding in a corner, nowhere near the objective, and only caring about your K/D ratio and killstreaks is camping.
"The fact that the likes of Medal of Honour and Crysis 2 copied this is testament to the popularity of the feature." Yep, kind of ruined those games for me as well.
COD:UO was my favorite COD game of all time. For me, it just went downhill after that. Oh, with COD:UO, it wasn't actually a "killstreak" because all points went towards it and it also didn't need to be a streak. What happened is that you ranked up during a round as you hit certain amount of points. First you got an extra 2 grenades (rank 3 I believe). Then, you got a high explosive satchel charge (rank 4). Finally, at rank 5, you got the binocs to call in an artillery barra...
Just to correct the author, but the first innovation listed, "Dangling Carrots", was done by other games first. BF2, for instance, had persistent stats, ranking, and unlockable weapons well before they became an "innovation" for MW (BF2 came out in 2005, MW in 2007). Also, I could do without some of these innovations: particularly killstreaks (no skill kills). Once these were introduced to COD (along with aim assist), I was no longer interested in the series. It became an ...
How about ranked dedicated servers? I can't believe they are going to have dedicated servers for PC, but they won't be ranked. Completely defeats the point of having servers. So, PC players have to play hosted games (with all that lag) in order to rank up. "How To Not F–k Up the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 PC Launch". They're not off to good start.
@strobe31, sorry, not a PS fanboy. I'm PC fanboy. Nice try, though. Why is that insecure MS fanboys must label anyone who doesn't like Kinect as a PS fanboy? Pretty pathetic. Love being a PC gamer so I don't have to be part of this ongoing and ridiculous "console war". My dedication is to games, not corporations. Kinect has nothing I want to play and doubt it ever will.
Note: I don't own a PS Move or Wii either. For me, motion gaming is nothing but a...
Could be a stockholder, as well. Or, just a very delusional fanboy.
A decent comparison, but I really disagree with point #4 (Weapons). I think BF3's weapons are much better: with no aim assist, bullet drop, recoil and their general feel are all more realistic in BF3. Not to mention great attachments and no quick scoping. How could you rate MW3's weapons better? If that section was switched to BF3 (or at least a tie), then BF3 would have been the winner in this comparison. But then again, I would have also put BF3's MP as better than MW3, so it is...
