Glad I'm a combo gamer and don't have to chose. I have a gaming PC for the multi-plats and superior graphics plus a PS3 for it's great line-up of exclusives. An added benefit is that they're both free to play online; they make a great gaming combo.
Here is my gaming equation: (BF3 on PC) + (Uncharted 3 on PS3) = AMAZING!
To be honest, I believe the best gaming combo is a PC and a PS3. PC for the multi-plats and superior graphics plus the PS3 for it's excellent exclusives. Not to mention both are free to play online.
BF3 on PC + Uncharted 3 on PS3 = AMAZING!
You really should read the article before commenting. Here is a quote: "Writing from a PC perspective, here is why I think the Call of Duty franchise is losing its appeal to gamers." All his points were based on the PC version which I completely agree. COD on PC has been on a downward slide since MW1. It's not even worth playing anymore.
"So not only do you get to play PC Games but also Wii games and every system ever made except PS3. 360 games will be playable when Windows 8 is launched."
Yep, you only miss out on PS3 games which is why I own one of those as well. It's great being a combo PC/PS3 gamer: you miss out on very few games. Anyways, got to get back to playing the new BF3 Back to Karkand on PC. The new expansion is amazing!
Crysis 2 campaign got 13.08% vs 13.4% for BF3. Probably the only reason is, like the article stated, Crysis 2 was released early in the year and is not as fresh in people's mind. Personally, I'm with you and thought it was the better campaign. As far as weapons, though, I believe BF3 was the proper choice. I know Resistance 3 had creative weapons, but I think the BF3 weapon handling and sound were top notch. Also, R3 didn't do too bad in the category, scoring a 11.87% and good for...

Nice one as well (really like that 2 level desk). Here is mine:
@nicfurlong, no disagreements here. You have a nice setup. I was just saying it was easier to use one HDTV rather than two computer monitors. I also end up with a bigger screen in the process. Not only that, I have another added benefit: since it is also a TV, I can watch TV (like football on Sundays) while talking on Teamspeak with friends. I just kind of prefer the unified approach is all: one big monitor for gaming and TV in my room.
It is nice, but I think its easier to just hook up the PC and PS3 to one HDTV. I have a 1080p 40" on my bedroom desk and can switch between the two with ease (just use the remote to change inputs). Having a huge screen in front of your face really increases the immersion. BF3 on this thing is truly amazing! Doesn't need to be 40" either; a 32" is a pretty sweet size as well and the prices are incredibly cheap these days (under $250).
Instead of separate monitors, I have my gaming PC and PS3 hooked up to a 40" HDTV on my bedroom desk. I just use the remote to switch between inputs. Easy hook up, too: the PS3 comes out through the TV speakers and the PC has its own speaker system. I can game on the PS3 and still talk with friends on Teamspeak.
Oh, by the way, I'd like to welcome the author to the combo PC/PS3 club. I've been doing it for about 2 years now (got my PS3 once the Slim came out at $...
Add to that the lack of ranked dedicated servers and Activision has screwed the PC gamer yet again. This game makes them so much money, but they still subject us to crappy P2P matchmaking. The series has steadily gone downhill on the PC and not even worth playing anymore. That's actually OK for me because I've lost interest in the sameness of the series. Each successive game feels more like an expansion pack rather a new game.
Great quote from the article: "The answer is easy. It’s a selfish game. Sure there are team modes, but there’s very little reward for helping your teammates out – if you want the points, you capture the headquarters first, or grab the flag first. While some people might get a kick out of helping out and will enjoy just being on the winning team, a lot of people will obsess about being the name at the top of the list."
That pretty much sums it up right there. COD is ...
Yep, I own both as well. I've found it to be a great gaming combo. Love my FPS and RTS games on PC: I just believe that the KB/M are the best controls for those genres. And I have the PS3 for their exclusives and the console only games: I especially like the 3rd person action/adventure games like Uncharted, Infamous, and Red Dead Redemption. Also, looking forward to Twisted Metal early next year.
Yep, Caspian Border and Operation Firestorm are also my favorite maps, but I also do like Kharg Island. Just add that one and that would be an awesome 7 map rotation for a server. Absolutely love BF3!
Oh, by the way, didn't the original Karkand have 7 flags as well? Four on one side of the river and 3 on the other. Since this is a remake, one would think that it would also have 7 flags.
I would definitely buy it. Loved Road Rash on the old Genesis.
From the article: "In total, MW3 saw an average of 6.19 hours of playtime compared to 4.45 hours for Battlefield 3." I would say the reason is that MW3 has more kids that play it and the majority of them don't have jobs. I mean 6 hours playing one game in a day? No way they have jobs. Bet their parents are pissed that they aren't studying.
Not to mention the lack of dedicated servers. Any shooter that doesn't have them automatically gets a point deducted in my book. Then add the lack of anything new and there's another negative point. The game really deserves no more than an 8 (a fair score). C'mon Activision! COD makes you a fortune; can't you invest something into the game to make it better? Guess not, it's just a "cash cow" for you guys.
Well, if it was supposed to be sarcastic, I guess it needed a little more "bite" to it.
Wow, the four reasons they give are exactly the reasons I love BF3: team-based gameplay, realism, vehicles, and destructive environments. No wonder I play it so much. Also, why does the title have to be "This Is Why You Should Hate Battlefield 3"? Just trying to get hits? A more proper title would have been "This Is Why You Might Not Like Battlefield 3". Why is there got to be all this "hate" for either BF3 or MW3 in the gaming world? They serve different audienc...
I thought they were all good choices except MW3 as PC shooter of the year. C'mon on now. BF3 on PC was by far the better shooter. Maybe on consoles, MW3 may have been the choice. But on PC....no way! MW3 doesn't have ranked dedicated servers and the maps, graphics and gameplay pales in comparison to BF3. They should have gone with the readers on this one because they made the right choice.
