That's right, you could easily make it 6 and BF3 would be the #1 reason for me.
@elite-shot, actually my #1 reason why I won't be buying the next COD game is because I'll be playing BF3.
@Joni-Ice, the last COD game I bought was MW1. I play my FPS games on the PC and COD games have seriously gone down hill for that platform since then. For example: MW1 had 48 players with dedicated servers vs only 18 players in MW2 and a crappy matchmaking service.
Only problem with tough to get ranks, though, is that it leads to "boosting". I was an admin at a BF2 community and we would always have an eye out for boosters on our servers. The most common one we saw was for a group of 4 or more people (with at least 2 from each team) to meet up in some remote spot of the map and take turns killing and reviving each other for the entire round.
Now, I'm for a robust ranking system, but I think BF2's was a little extreme. ...
@Bear_Grylls, lol. Actually stopped playing BF2 about 2 years ago, so I won't be going back anytime soon to try and get that top rank. I was a pretty decent player, though, but I eventually got tired of the grind for rank and moved on.
I put 750 hours into BF2 and only made Captain. Personally, I think it should be toned down just a little since it encouraged "boosting". BFBC2 was a little too easy, too fast, but BF2 was excruciating. I mean 750 hours is like 2 hours a day, every day for a year and I only made Captain! Couldn't imagine how long it would take to reach the highest rank without boosting.
Probably so. Having three developers on one game can't be a good sign. Remember the old saying: "too many cooks in the kitchen spoil the broth".
I also want this game. Generals and Zero Hour were great RTS games. I remember some really good mods and customs maps as well. EA, please make this game.
Or just insert "Casual" to the front of the title and then it'd make sense. I agree with both of you that true gamers would rather have robust graphics and online play rather than gimmicky motion controls.
How many true backwards compatible consoles have there really been, though? The PS2 is the only one that I remember. If there were any others, its not many.
@Dmarc, you make a good point and most people missed it. Now that the 360 is severely lacking in exclusives for the core audience, all of sudden, exclusives no longer matter. And, surprise, this news is coming from an Xbox site (damage control, maybe?). Now, I'm not a Sony fanboy and primarily a PC gamer. However, I do own a PS3 as a "sidekick" and the major reason is it's exclusives. Just this year, I am really looking forward to Uncharted 3, inFamous 2, and Twisted Metal (...
I guess I'm the contrarian around here, but this game is not that appealing to me. It looks like headache or epileptic seizure ready to happen. I got a headache with the SP Black Ops campaign with all its Mason flashback scenes. This just looks way too psychedelic for me.
It really doesn't make sense, especially economically. Sure, they might save a few dollars on the hardware, but think of all the lost opportunities to make money off of DLC, downloadable games, etc. in the future because the customers don't have the space available. If this rumor is true, then I can really see Project Cafe become like the next Dreamcast: only marginally better than current consoles and will probably be outclassed by the PS4 and the next Xbox.
@tigersnake86, I chose the Sega Genesis as my first console over the SNES for the reasons I stated in my original post (too kiddie oriented, not enough mature titles, lack of quality 3rd party games). Every generation since, I haven't owned a Nintendo console: chose the PS1 over the N64 and the PS2 over the Gamecube. They always just seem to be "wannabe" consoles and don't have the features I want. For the last decade, I've been primarily a PC gamer, but bought a PS3 two...
@Shok, I'd say the PS2 had the honor of "expanded gaming more than any other console yet". PS2 not only had the casuals, like the Wii, but also core gamers with its more mature titles and quality 3rd party support (something most Nintendo consoles never really have). Sales of the Wii are nosediving and they have their new Project Cafe on the way. I don't see the Wii ever passing the PS2 in sales.
If the Wii is the best Nintendo console ever, then I guess I know why I've never own a Nintendo console and probably never will. For me, their consoles have always been just too kid oriented, with not enough mature games, lack of 3rd party support, hardware that's just good enough but never pushing the envelope, and the list goes on. Look at the specs of the Project Cafe: no HDD. A next gen console without a HDD!? This thing already sounds like a failure.
Actually, the title needs to be updated to 8 things to be pessimistic about Project Cafe. I just read an article stating that it will not have a hard drive, but rather only 8gb of flash memory and the ability of saving to SD cards. I can't see a next gen console not having a HDD and is very disappointing. I am really starting to believe these stories of the Project Cafe being the next Dreamcast (only marginally better than current consoles and will probably be outclassed by the PS4 and th...
@kyl277, you were the one stating that "Nintendo consoles never need to install games", so the games will be loading off the disk which is much, much slower than either HDD or flash memory.
I'm starting to believe the stories saying that the Wii 2 is the next Dreamcast.
Really? Just Cause 2 controlled just fine with KB/M and its a much similar game (3rd person, open world). I have a gaming PC and PS3, so I've played inFamous on the PS3 and Just Cause 2 on PC (plus I played the demo on PS3). Very similar game mechanics and I think it would play great on a PC with KB/M. Not likely to happen, but that's why I own a PC and a PS3. I get the best of both worlds.
It would actually work better with a Move like device since you could use it as the flashlight and would be more intuitive.
