I've been firmly anti-MS for a long time for a million reasons, but I'll come to their defense here.

I think Phil Spencer is the best thing to happen to XBox for a long long time, and this particular nugget of bullshiz came before Spencer did, or at least before the gradual circulation of the memo that says not to lie through their teeth at every opportunity.

gears of war sounds cool, but forza?
most boring game ip to make a show from ever. it'd be exactly like any other racing or car show, except the title

Wrong. I'm about as anti-MS as you can get, but only as far as each new decision goes. The XBox One is less powerful than the PS4, but it's not so far behind that it can't have great games. They just need to change their policies and start seeing customers and gamedevs as part of an eco-system with them, instead of just crops to be harvested and fertilizer, respectively.

I for one hope that Phil is the great hope that XBox fans seems to think he is. And when he...

I hope Spencer and the new CEO deliver more than talk. Start Menu is coming back to Win8, and it sounds like a shakeup with the ID policies might be on it's way, too, so it's a start already. The industry would be a lot better off with a less evil, more game/gamer/gamedev focused MS.

@Concertoine, I actually wasn't complaining at all. I was clarifying why reviewers say what they do, and why users choose how they do.

The movie experience is not a good comparison. If I want a larger screen on my TV, or a better color-depth, I do expect to pay more. And if I go to a theatre with uncomfortable seats, a small screen, and a terrible sound system, it would be nice for the tickets to be a bit cheaper than an IMAX theatre with stadium seats, a huge screen,...

It's not more powerful, and it's not crazy when you think about it, either. I can run n64 games at 1080p/60fps on my phone. Does that mean my phone is more powerful than PS4? The better you make the graphics, the more power it takes to run, and so you have less frames per second and/or you have to lower the resolution. Forza runs at 1080p because it's just not that demanding of a game, and it shows in the graphics.

I hope with the changing of the guard at Microsoft these lies about parity and magical SDK updates that upgrade hardware will stop. I genuinely have fun in these console war arguments and discussions vs people who fall for it every time, but really, it's pretty messed up when you think about it. Not everyone knows enough about hardware to understand this, and there's been so many outright lies fed to them in the name of damage control and trying to boost the brand.

But you should care, shouldn't you?
I'm never been a big fan of the wii-u, but I'm a fan of Nintendo and their integrity as a game company. We want Mario Kart and Smash Bros to sell Wii-U's, so Nintendo can thrive. If it sells more consoles, aside from making sure Nintendo survives, they will have more resources to make more games, and have more of a safety net to take calculated risks if they want to.

@ZainreFang, it's not console allegiance, it's that graphics DO matter. This looks great, but not just because it's mario kart again (for that play the wii version). It's because it's very very pretty now, too. Also, on wii-u you get one company's fantastic franchises, and with everyone jumping ship, almost no one else. Lastly, for the price, you want some performance. It'd be like choosing a clunker at the dealership, when they're selling ferraris and me...

Between Spencer's ascent, and the new CEO, and Win8 Start Menu returning, and SOME of this news about indies, I'm softening up slightly with my hatred of MS and how low they've sunk with all their non-stop bullsh!t.

I still can't shake the feeling that there's still a few puppetmasters high up keeping some of the more progressive thinkers at XBox division from really making it shine like it could. Something about the particular words they choose when dod...

I've gotta say it again, despite having been one of the biggest critics of how underpowered wii-u is, this looks beautiful.

I have enough distrust in MS to think they will neuter any independent thought once he starts his new position, but this is good news. The only person in all of MS who has even a semblance of a clue of how gamers and gamedevs think.

Between this and the new CEO, there's an infinitesimal chance in a few years XBox won't be synonymous with everything wrong with the game industry.

Actually if the comment history here or at youtube lets you search back far enough, I was one of the few people criticizing Sony for the same thing. I don't own any next gen consoles yet, but I'm more excited for Oculus and Star Citizen, and everything about to happen on PC, so my only dog in this fight is what I think is right for the industry, and historically Sony is a lot closer to the mark.

As far as the paywall, what makes Sony different is that they're onl...

forget the wii-u, every phone owned by everyone I know, my PC, my mac, smart-tv's. LITERALLY EVERYTHING except xbox wouldn't dream of charging a fee to use your internet connection aside from ISPs. MS fans continually keep defending it and talking about how the value has improved, because they went from paying a toll to use their own internet connection to doing the same thing, but now they get a 10 year old game once or twice a month that they would've bought in the bargain bin...

thank god there's someone else who gets it. I feel like I'm taking crazy pills.

MS and Sony fans will just defend ANYTHING they do. Sony's PSN isn't as bad, but it's still crappy to have to pay a toll to use your own connection, but MS just goes above and beyond to make sure it's as horrible and empty an experience as possible if you refuse or can't afford to pay your monthly Xbox1 hardware rental fee.

X1 owners have the antonym of an entitlement attitude (whatever the word for that is). You guys will just eat any old sh!t MS throws at you. It's a cancer on the industry that these companies that do stuff like this have an army of followers ready to defend and praise every crappy move they make.

4347d ago 34 agree5 disagreeView comment

It's weird that xbox owners are still defending MS. No matter how much pure logic, analogies, detailed breakdowns on exactly why it's not ok to be like MS. I would've thought they would have dropped the 'MS is not evil', the way most of them have dropped the 'XBox will be more powerful' thing. Vlambeer isn't arrogant, Rami is actually well known not for his games, but for how generous he is with his time to everyone sharing knowledge and advice, regardless h...

Good. Should be said a lot more, but Xbox owners love worshipping every anticonsumer move Ms throws at em. Also, I had once considered getting an Xbox one down the line as a cool way to control my tv. Hopefully this does it even better. Definitely a much more consumer-centric philosophy at amazon

It's just that Valve decided to keep the HMD to just R&D. All these people that worked on it fell in love with VR, and they want to keep working on it.

No, it usually doesn't work that way, at least not for machines in the same league as eachother. In this case because of the clunky ESRAM design, XBoxOne is harder to push to it's limits than ps4
