The issue with your argument is that a lot of it is theoretical. I'm not saying I disagree or that I agree, but I am saying that, in the current landscape on consoles like XBO and PS4, digital is far more limited than physical.
Based off the replies here, I feel like a lot of people don't understand how trade-in stores work.
New games like Deus Ex: Mankind Divided always start with a lowball trade-in. Here GameStop has the highest (if you have pro) at $27.50, with most sticking at about $25 and Target being the lowest at $21.86. They put it at this price because it's still a decent amount of cash, but they don't know how to value it. If a lot of new copies are sold and very few are tra...

"More like supply and ripoff customers."
It's just business... I mean, this is what others are offering.
Target? $15.78
Walmart? $18.90
Best-Buy? $20
AMZ? $21.50
While they're the lowest and by a fairly large margin, a lot of it probably has to do with so many people trading it into GameStop. Amazon is also likely the highest due to you having to ship it off...
"Gamestop even had to offer more because of Gamecrazy, then Hollywood Video closed down and well that was the end of that."
Ignoring the fact that there is probably some A and B equal C going on there, GameStop still has to compete with Best Buy, Target, Walmart and every other way to sell things. Believe it or not, there are actually people who flip things by going from one location to another and make decent money doing it.
I remember when Ni...
"Lol, gamestop is known to rip you off cause they know they are the biggest place in town to trade in games for credit."
Honestly, you'd be surprised. About a year or two ago when I routinely sold my games I would CONSTANTLY get offers that were at or below GameStop range. The funny thing is that, even when I explained this to them, they would either withdraw their offer or make a note that the small profit ($2~) was worth it. Though more often than not I foun...
And? GameStop and pretty much every trade in service bases it off supply and demand. There isn't a lot of demand and there is probably a lot of supply, so it trades for nothing.
"When people complain about the price I cant help but think that either people have a real narrow taste in games or zero economical sense. "
I believe a lot of them are simply comparing the past to the present.
Aug 2010: 2Xtreme, Aero Racer, Mushroom Wars, Vempire
Aug 2011: Comix Zone, Crash Commando, Destruction Derby, Dr. Maybe and the Adventures of Scarygirl, I Must Run!, OMG-Z

"I don't see the big deal."
I think it's just the timing and no word on what, if anything, will actually change. If this was three years ago when the IGC was in its full glory I don't think people would've mind or even thought about it. It probably would've been something like "we're getting an awesome service and it cost money to keep it up." 2016 we've seen a drastic decrease in quality titles (like Reality Fighters) and aft...
By design physical is almost always going to beat digital due to how limited digital is.
The selling point, which I found interesting that the article didn't mention, is not having to mess with discs or deal with that. It's nice knowing I can play Destiny, get invited to do some Call of Duty and click a couple of buttons and be playing with my friend, only go to back by pushing the same buttons to go back. Despite how handy that is, it typically costs as much, almo...
@ Thatguy-310
" wouldn't the person then just buy it"
In some cases no. The "damage" is that it puts the thought in peoples head. Like I mentioned in another post, the original prediction article might not be bad for this game, but it does a lot to potentially damage to RIVE's future sales.
"RIVE ticks all the boxes for your typical free PlayStation Plus game. It’s from an indie studio (Two Tribes), it’s...
The funny thing about this article/issue is that there are so many bigger issues (lack the lack of research*) than predicting this game would be free. I mean, the whole basis for the prediction is "it releases the same day Plus games are added and Plus has done this before." This is a smaller issue than what he said about RIVE, which is a prediction for the same reason, but he almost encourages people not to even consider purchasing it.
What was said about DOGOS: ...
I get the impression you also don't understand what's going on here. No one made an article claiming your "game is going to be free," they made an article predicting it MIGHT be free because it follows previously established trends. There is no harm in guessing and it makes sense to use logic to guess which games will be selected.
Like Yomfweeee said, this isn't about offering it for free being a bad thing, but rather, the idea that it might potentially be free hurting its sales. It's IMPOSSIBLE to deny that this is, on some level anyway, true, but it's also impossible to prevent too, making their stance rather pointless.
All PSU did was took a couple of facts and applied them to a situation that makes sense. We do get a lot of indie games for free on day one, this game releases on the da...
"I feel like bungie continues to restrain this game from being all it truly could. "
Honestly, all this would do is make anything purple obsolete. While they have some cool perks and other armor look better, there are a lot of people who look at its rarity and judge it by that. This is why you see a lot of people asking for advice automatically assuming you NEED an exotic, even though you could easily beat even the hardest content (ToO/HM KF) without a single exot...
"I wish some of the more popular gaming sites would be a bit more like them and not use every damn news for clickbait crap."
Sadly, that probably will never change because said articles get views. Having written for a site that did good articles like this one, which touched on some points I too wondered about, and flatebait articles, it's depressing how much more advantageous the latter is. All you really need to do is pick a subject people feel strongly about...
The issue some people have is what happened with the 3DS and New 3DS. On paper, the differences are not monumental. The New 3DS has better specs, amiibo support, c stick and a few other unimportant things. However, the difference in how things run on certain games, which are supported on the original, is impossible to ignore. It makes a massive difference, makes some people feel like the old system is obsolete and have even went so far as to suggest they shouldn't even support the origina...
"I honestly think scores should be managed better out of /10 has way too many possibilities. It should be out of /5 "
While I get your point, no numbering system is going to make a difference because of how numbers work. Like if a site uses a five point scale, but allows for a .5 score, it's basically a 10 point scale. Likewise, if you count all the decimal points, then its a 100 point scale. 2/5, 4/10, 40/100, its all basically the same thing, i.e., 40 percen...
Would you believe that one of the "requirements" to get on Metacritic is for the score and review to make sense?
That aside, there is certainly some merit in both yours and Niceman91's points. On one hand, games tend to be more than the value of its parts, which is why you see some games that are glitchy, have terrible stories, bad graphics or other "major" flaws receive good scores. Ultimately being fun matters more than a constant 60 FPS, 1080P an...
"At what point do we say a game is or isnt hard? "
The issue with calling the Souls series easy or hard is that hard never seemed like the right term to describe it. It's very similar to the issues people had with Bungie calling the raid challenges, well, challenges, since the general belief was that they weren't difficult (Oryx I believe was thought to be easiest under CM conditions). However, similar to how Destiny's use of the term was different tha...
While I can understand wanting to think about it, this feels like one of those articles someone writes specifically because it will get hits or it is a current issue and they want to try and cash in.
I mean, the whole basis for there being more to it is the fact it takes place before a large event and the slim releasing. However, it's not like those details make any more difference than it being before the holiday season, prior to Black Friday, prior to this months gam...
