"But lack of game modes...not so much.
If Capcom were transparent, these types of articles would have made their way here due to the nature of half the N4G articles having to be pessimistic about a popular game. MMO's just aren't that popular around here, so I don't find the comparison similar in the least. "
I like how you keep saying "if Capcom were transparent," when you seem to miss my point. I posted a number of articles,...
@ Ranslacker
"If it's such a big deal now, why was the press not making such a big deal about it to inform everyone to drive hits however long ago this was revealed? "
I thought the same about it suddenly becoming an issue, but I originally thought it wasn't an issue because people it clashed with demographics. Similar to how many MMOs are super popular, but they don't appear terribly often on N4G or get a lot of coverage (at least in th...

I have a couple of issues with for argument here.
"but I feel that this price is inflated somewhat in some cases"
I never got the impression that prices were inflated over cross-buy. In some cases we've actually got more content (Don't Starve including the Giant stuff on the Vita/PS3) and there are several games that seem to have no increase (Don't Starve is $14.99 on Steam and $14.99 on the PSN. Now I wouldn't be shocked if some ga...
"Capcom has explained how they are handling SFV for months."
Indeed and this is probably the part that I find most disheartening. I understand not liking it (just don't buy) or even agreeing with it, but at least acknowledge they were transparent about it.
@ Pivotplease
Thank you for the post, since that logic is EXACTLY the problem I was talking about.
"Tearaway offered enough hours for a $40 handheld game"
Thats cool, but several disagree.

"You get what I mean. It's hypocritical because when it comes to a game people love they'll defend it unless it's another game they either don't like or aren't a die hard fan over. "
This is a point I keep trying to get across to people. While Street Fighter V is being called out for a lack of this and that, a lot of games that I would argue lack enough content for the price, go on to be praised by the community or receive great scores. I could u...
"but the reviewer needs to review the game in its current state not how it will be months down the road."
See, this is the tricky/hard part, which I feel a lot of outlets/users are getting wrong.
Its fine to disregard the fact this was known and that they promised to fix it, though I personally think completely doing so is wrong, but so many people are taking massive points away for things like no arcade. If the game itself plays fine, the stories ...
"but the pticr of the game should reflect the amount of quantity."
See, the issue here is that there are a lot of games, even highly praised ones, that are arguably light on actual content. While it pains me to say it, you can most certainly say Bayonetta, Vanquish, Rising and a lot of things Platinum Games made fall in this category. I mean, Bayonetta literally has an item that unlocks if you beat it in under three hours (even if cutscenes aren't included, many...
". These companies really need a wake up call because this isnt the only game light on content, created around DLC and with mass amount of greed on their minds. This is getting out of hand."
You do realize this doesn't even make sense, right?
For starters Capcom revealed it would be light on content before release. This was revealed on Jan. 1 ( 3780d ago 0 agree2 disagreeView comment
"That's usually how I how I feel about rating."
Care to further rationalize your "rating system?" Speaking for myself, I would say bad/crap/shit are all synonyms and honestly, I would say your system is fundamentally flawed.
If 10 is perfect, then, logically, no game will ever score a 10/10, just like a 1/10 is, according to you anyway, "not possible." So, essentially you have an eight point system (two through nine), with S...
"If you are a pro gamer then this 30% complete game is for you but if you are a casual gamer then you would feel like someone robbed you of $60.00"
One of the issues with finding balance in reviewing Street Fighter V is going to be based off your perception. As you said, a casual player is probably not going to think its worth $60*, but a hardcore fan is probably okay with it, if only for the fact they can practice (this is widely believed to be the reason it releas...
"Most reviewers don't actually finish the games they review. Deadlines make it impossible"
You would probably be surprised.
I was able to platinum Neptunia Re;Birth 1, 2 and VII (I couldn't do Re;Birth 3 because of Stella's dungeon and the hack/slash game because I didn't want to grind out Lily ranks), along with Disgaea 5, Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare and many more before my deadline was up. I also usually have ample time to d...
"Seems people have no problem when it unfairly receives a good score it doesn't deserve, but go flipping crazy when it receives a bad score thats undeserved."
The problem generally deals with extremes and how negativity brings out more emotional responses.
With that being said, they actually do.

"Well the score was based on a scale of 1 to 5, so 7 ins't even a possibility..... "
3.5/5, 7/10. 70/100, 700/7,000 All the same thing.
"You have to invest many hours into the game to "unlock" the additional stuff. "
Yeah, no. While Capcom has not revealed how much the additional characters and stuff will cost, it has been said that every characters story mode, which can be completed in an hour, will give enough points for Alex. It seems many believe characters will cost 100,000, which if true, you could actually unlock everything in around six hours over the course of multiple months. <...
Exactly and I think its a shame some people overlook how Capcom handled it. They were incredibly upfront and honest about what Street Fighter V would launch with and what we would get in the foreseeable future. Not only with a video showcasing the modes, but even a chart giving us an idea of what the future would hold. I mean, this is what people want from companies, yet they overlook at the effort Capcom put forth to make sure people knew what they were getting and just focus on the fact tha...
While I get where the author is coming from, something like a spoiler is way too conceptual to really comment on in a general way. While I'm personally okay with spoilers and often times find that they don't hinder enjoyment, I do thinking knowing certain things before hand can greatly impact your enjoyment.
Like my Dad saw Shutter Island and told me it was worth watching. He didn't reveal anything besides "I would never guess the twist," so I spent mor...
"I mean poe 35 will be cake when ttk comes out. At level 36 and up most players will be able to pass it"
Hard to say. Similar to how we're 4 levels above Atheon and people still fail to him, I imagine Skolas will be saved by his mechanics. The fight will be easier, yes, but what causes a wipe are the mines or poison. I imagine this will remain true and while people might do it once or twice, I don't expect people to do it in bulk.
"Both the consumer and the media are to blame IMO, and while I think the media shouldn't blow things out of proportion, their complete hypocrisy in not doing what they normally do in this situation is rather jarring. "
I'm glad we're on the same page here. If you read a number of those articles you'll see a lot of sites openly acknowledge that the game will launch with just those modes, meaning they understood that the game would launch light.
