I really can't agree with the 360 pad being #1. While I can agree that the staggered analogue sticks can be nice for shooters I don't like it for anything else (Tiger Woods Golf anyone?). The D-Pad is proabably the worst ever - try to use the quick launch in Oblivion and you'll know what I mean. I like the triggers and the "bumpers", but I don't understand why the ABXY buttons are convex - I don't like how they feel when you press them nearly as much as the PS controllers. And while...

The omission of the original Dual Shock is bizarre. Sure the N64 had an analogue stick and trigger first, but the Dual Shock blew it away. Then the Dual Shock 2 added analogue to every button - which I've always found to be awesome.

I always wonder how she made the jump from pointing at things on Judgement Day on G4 to where she is now.

For those of us that do have a PS3 it's great to hear that they are taking the PSN seriously. I don't expect anyone to buy a PS3 to play Calling All Cars - that would be nuts - but if you have a PS3 it's a no-brainer purchase. More variety will be a great thing for PS3 owners and in the long run make the platform more attractive the a larger market - imagine if there we 10 games under $10 that you really wanted to play (you tried it at your friends or something) along with FF13 and some blue ...

I think it could be true for hardcore gamers, but that vast majority of gamers probably won't even notice.

I've found the 360 strategy really interesting. Some of the features that made the XBox really popular with the hardcore crowd like the standard hard drive and easy modding have fallen by the wayside. In contrast Sony has followed their lead from the previous generation and made the hard drive standard and also made probably the most mod-friendly console of all time. It w...

I hope, and expect that, they'll keep making fun quality, new games for the PSN. I've really been enjoying Calling All Cars and Super Rub a Dub. They aren't deep experiences, but I can pick up and play something for a few minutes anytime.

I think they need to keep a balance of new stuff with the classic games - classic games are cool and all, it's great to have that option, but if 80-90% of the games are "old" it could seem stale.

It was for PC folks that already have HL2 and episode 1.

When they say 10 year lifespan they mean overall - not until a new console comes out. The PS1 lifespan went well into the PS2s just as the PS2s is continuing into the PS3s. I've read the explicitly from Phil or Kaz, I don't remember exactly where. Anyway - this is one of the things that Sony has done really well - probably better than any other game console maker - extending the life of their hardware. I would expect to see a PS4 around 2012, and for the PS3 to be down to around $199 or $249 ...

Do you seriously think that when MGS4 and FF13 come out that Sony will be "done for" in Japan? Japanese people will suddenly stop buying Sony cell phones, laptops, mp3 players, TVs, etc. etc. etc.

Even if you meant Playstation when you wrote "Sony" that's still beyond foolishness.

I have this game and have played it quite a bit (Liu Ping FTW). IMO the game would have to be changed so much to get it to work on the Wii that it would hardly be recognizable.

Also, the RAGE engine on the Wii?

That combined with the fact that it's not exactly a blockbuster title makes a port seem unlikely.

Do you even have a PS3? I don't think so. I have a PS3 and a 360 and I have XBL gold.

The hosting system for games on XBL is seriously flawed and lame - and you have to PAY FOR IT. With all the money they are charging you really think they could afford some servers.

When you can play Gears with 39 of your friends for free then you can say that XBL owns all, but not before.

You clearly do not have a PS3. My 360 sits right next to my PS3 on top of my component rack. It is easily 10-20 times louder. I can always hear the 360 running over the sound of the game running through my 1000+w 5.1 system whereas I can't even tell that my PS3 is running unless I take a second and listen for it - with the sound muted.

At our house we jokingly call the 360 the "vacuum cleaner" - it is hands down the loudest system I've ever played, and I've played mo...
