The thing that bugs me about paying for XBL is that even if I'm not using it I'm still paying for it. If I'm playing a game for a few months, say Oblivion, which has no online play I'm still out $5 a month. If I played COD online every week it wouldn't be so bad, but I don't. Since I got my PS3 I don't plan on renewing my XBL Gold account when it expires - if I need an online fix I'll turn on the PS3.
Yeah, well according to Gamestop, it's $199 for the game, 1 Guitar Controller, 1 Mic, and 1 Drum Controller. If you want another guitar (I know I do) it's $59.99 on PS3 and $79.99 on the 360.
I imagine the pads will double as cymbals and toms etc. the pedal will probably always be the kick, but the others will probably change depending on the song/section. I would guess that the far left will be the snare a lot and the next over the hat a lot. Notice that it has 5 triggers just like the guitar so it'll probably work just like GH where one fret-button can mean many different notes: one pad can be several different drums etc. - like if it has Queens of the Stone Age's "Little S...
I bet it costs $30 for the download. $20 would be awesome though.
It's interesting to see the the Rocband guitar controller has more features. If it DOES work with GH3 then that's the one you'll want - not the ones from Activision. If it doesn't then a whole lot of gamers will be cheesed off :)
I hope we know soon if we can use the guitar for GH3 and the Mic for Singstar and the like. That will make the price far easier to swallow. I'll probably get them all regardless, but it would be nice to not have 4 different guitar controllers etc. cluttering up the place.
I know they've said the guitar controllers would work - I imagine they just meant on 360 since PS2 isn't getting Rockband and PS3 doesn't have GH yet. Let's all cross our fingers.
Yes, Microsoft has proprietary wireless technology that up until now they wouldn't license, but Rock Band and GH3 will be using. That is absolutely what is driving up the price and another reason I'll probably get this for PS3.
I didn't go for the 360 version either. The PS2 is now pretty much the Guitar Hero machine - which isn't bad as the 80s version is on it's way and it's PS2 only. I did get a chance to play the 360 version and the controller was awful - the strumbar was too loose and the buttons were mushy - reminded me of those Chinese knock-off controllers that you can get on eBay or at some Walmarts.
Amazon doesn't generally charge until shipment. Just cancel the order.
Right. You have to move your whole hand up for solo parts, just like if you were playing the wheedlies and squeadalies on a real guitar. (Note that they are the same 5 colors).
I just wonder if you HAVE to use them in the more difficult modes or if they simply offer some kind of bonus.
Really looking forward to this one - Harmonix knows what they are doing, I think. I just hope I can use my Rock Band Strat for GH3.
My guitar-playing friends and I enjoy GH more than any of my non-guitar-playing friends. Possibly because I kick their butts. Hopefully soon I can kick some of your butts online :)
I think the title is very apt - how HD-DVD can survive, not win.
I just keep coming back to the fact that I can't think of any shooter that was as fun as Resistance.
To me "next gen" is all about the physics and AI that Resistance does a great job of illustrating. I was startled by how bad the physics are in Gears - I've been playing through Halo lately and I keep noticing how much better the physics are in that game than in Gears. I know a lot of you love the Gears, but I just had more fun with Resistance OK :)
I bought my PS3 at launch because of this game - I, like most folks, wait for a game a HAVE to play before buying a console. Wasn't much waiting with PS3. Insomniac rules.
Doesn't the premise of this statement assume that the format war between BRD and HDDVD will still be going on for at least 5 years from now?
That's silly.
Red Octane is still involved, but no Harmonix - which means they have to rewrite the whole thing. Hopefully that'll be a good thing.
Just to clarify - the first 2 GHs - Harmonix did the software and Red Octane the hardware. Red Octane came up with the idea, therefore own(ed) the IP, but not the software behind it. Red Octane was acquired by Activision.
I hope you've heard about GH2 Rocks the 80s. Comes out in a month!
What's with the PS3 hating? Does this thread have anything to do with the PS3? I'm not interested in your flame-bait. While it is certainly untrue that the only advantage it has is "the studios" it certainly is true that this is the most important advantage. My real problem with the HD-DVD drive is that unless HD-DVD prevails as a video format it isn't offering a good value to the customer, just another source of revenue for Microsoft. With the PS3 and Blu-ray, even if HD-DVD become...
Some people still use Laser Disc and Betamax - do you think they've gotten their monies worth yet? At least with Laser Disc there's some unique content that a collector would want, but with HD-DVD I doubt this will be the case - the Bluray format is too similar not to release the previously HD-DVD only content on (i.e. Universal Pictures).
I don't mean to burst your bubble or anything, but "if bluray wins"? - I know this is highly controversial, but if you really look...
I totally agree. I don't like having to pay for something twice. I bought Resistance for $60 and I can play it online all I want, probably for years to come. When I buy Halo 3 for $60 I'll have to pay basically buy the game again if I want to play it online for a year and half or so. Again, if I had the time to play online all day every day or at least more frequently than I do then I wouldn't blink at the cost - except for the fact that I can do the same thing for free on PS3 or the PC - may...
