Doom trained me to kill... DEMONS. What's wrong with that? If there's a splicer running at me yelling crazy stuff are you telling me, Jack, that I shouldn't beat them back with the wrench I'm holding? Should I not shoot the terrorists? I don't get his definition of violent.
I think you are confusing 1080i and 1080p. They both run at 60Hz, the screen refreshed 60 times a second (I'm just talking about HDTVs here - not computer monitors with variable refresh rates). Anyway, the difference is that interlacing (the i in 1080i) draws 1 field (half of a frame - a frame being the whole screen) once every 60th of a second. The result is 30 full frames a second. 1080p however draws the entire frame once every 60th of a second - resulting in the famous 1080p 60FPS we've a...
If you have a good 1080p television and decent eyesight the difference between 720p and 1080p is strikingly obvious. If you think that it isn't then you must be failing one of the aforementioned criteria.
Additionally, you got this backwards:
"If people say the difference is barely noticable on HDTV's over 42 inches. Than why would you think 720p vs 640p matter at all."
The general rule of thumb is that you can't see a difference between ...
bubbles for taking the time to do the math.
OK - I don't really care about what resolution Halo 3 is or is not running at, but I'm calling shenanigans. This response is a serious steaming pile.
"Did we short change you 80 pixels?"
"This ability to display a full range of HDR, combined with our advanced lighting, material and postprocessing engine, gives our scenes, large and small, a compelling, convincing and ultimately “real” feeling, and at a steady and smooth frame rate, which in the en...
Ridiculous! They clearly didn't inject any "Nectar" at all. There wasn't even a needle on that "syringe"!!!
;)
If you're going to launch a product like this in NA or EU - as oppose to Japan - you've got to produce an awful lot of them before you can get them on the shelves. It just takes time - get them produced, shipped, on store shelves. 5 or 6 months really isn't all that crazy, but I can understand wondering why they chose to announce it so far in advance. My guess is that the news was getting out anyway so they just went ahead with it - hey, TGS is as good a time as any.
360 launch reminds me more of the Genesis/Megadrive actually.
If you're trying to compare the PS3 to the 3DO you must have a really poor memory, or have been born to late to remember or have played a 3DO.
It's a seriously flawed, to the point of being completely invalid, comparison. The ONLY similarity is the they were/are both expensive - and if you adjust the 3DOs launch price to 2007 dollars it's was a LOT more expensive than even the PS3. My friend's dad got him one for, I believe, $700 14 YEARS AGO. According to the internets that's...
This article is a waste of bandwidth. Give me a break.
I haven't played Halo 3 on my HDTV at home yet, but it's true that Warhawk is a very very pretty game.
Is Halo 3's campaign significantly longer than that or Gears of War? From what I've heard - not having played through Halo 3 yet - it sounds like they are pretty similar in terms of length.
Cheaper than everyone thought. Awesome!
I'm just getting GH3 for PS2 - if Activision won't let the RB controllers be compatible then I just won't get it for PS3.
I think it must be a G4-centric announcement. G4 isn't big enough to get an exclusive announcement that involves any major industry players - they all have no problem getting the word out in the mainstream media.
I don't think it's AOTS specific either - I think they are just the logical choice for an announcement as they are the only G4 show that's broadcast live.
What I think it will be - G4 broadcasting over the internet, IPTV.
Strangle your sister, would you kindly.
Seems like any game that inspires marathon play sessions is going to bring out the inherent design flaws with the 360. Halo 3 is, of course, probably going to be the worst of these since it's so popular and people are so addicted to the multi-player.
What's interesting is that there seems to be software issues, as opposed to just the hardware issues that we all know about. Hopefully we'll get some confirmation of what's really going on here soon.
It's actually Pro Evolution Soccer - in EU anyway. In Japan and NA it's called Winning Eleven.
lolz - bubble for you.
Are you illiterate?
"J just… cant see a single good game to be released before November"
I'm responding to that quotation in the article.
I did not say that Ratchet & Clank Future was "so different", nor did I mention any "next gen features" - whatever that's supposed to mean.
All I said was that it's coming out before November and that it will be good.
While 60Hz is totally "flickerish" on CRTs (computer monitors), and gives me a headache - it's totally fine for LCD panels. Beyond that there are diminishing returns so it doesn't really make sense for developers to try and push beyond that since they could put the necessary horsepower to better use elsewhere.
