Some of the sales figures they posted aren't even correct. Gran Turismo 5 Prologue has sold over 3.6 million copies, not just 2.94: http://www.n4g.com/ps3/News...
So basically a glorified "demo" of GT5 has sold almost just as much as the full game Forza 2... that's pretty damn good if you ask me, as far as the score goes, I could care less. If it was the full Gran Turismo 5, there wouldn't even be...
Well to me, the Playstation platform isn't defined by one game or franchise because over the years Sony has been known for so many games. When you think of Nintendo most think of Mario first, when you think of Xbox, you pretty much think Gears or Halo, but when I think of Playstation, I don't think of one or two particular games.
I guess the thing about Sony is that they don't "ride" on a lot of their own franchises for a long period of time, regardless of how successfu...
If Sony comes with any surprises game wise at GamesCom, since it wasn't listed, I think it'll be GT5 because Sony knows Europe goes crazy for Gran Turismo and there's been all these crazy rumors about it's release lately....if not then hopefully TGS the following month.
I'm expecting pretty much the same build from God of War 3 that was at E3.... if it's something new, I'll have to close my eyes and try not watch the footage because when I get the game, I want almost everything t...
Regardless if GT5 comes out this year or not, I have a pretty good feeling that it will finally get dated and there will be live demonstrations of the game at either GamesCon or at TGS, and that alone will be satisfying for me.
With both MAG and Heavy Rain being delayed to next year, it would seem that those delays would open up a hole for another game for Late 2009 like GT5, so maybe a 2009 release will happen.
At first I was thinking that GT5 would come out in Japa...
I really don't care which game sells more, because I'm a fan of both God of War and Uncharted, both games are in my Top 5 Most Anticipated games and I'm getting both Day one.
Anyways, I think Uncharted 2 will sell a little more, simply because it has Multiplayer. The first Uncharted game has sold well already, but it would have sold even more if it had Multiplayer.
God of War 1 was the highest selling God of War game with sales at just a little over 3 million, so I see ...
While my sister was watching Spongebob a couple of days ago, I caught a glance at the Purple PSP TV Ad, so YES Sony is advertising it and completely surprised the heck out of me.
LocoRoco and Patapon aren't "girly games", just casual titles that are geared towards a non-hardcore audience.
Sony hasn't stolen anything, as games like Braid weren't truly Exclusive to the 360 to begin with, just like so many other games released on the 360 that eventually made their way to the PS3 and it's not like Sony paid to have Braid come to PSN because Johnathan Blow said a long while back that a PSN release of Braid was a possibility.
A lot of franchises that used to be exclusive to Playstation have gone multiplat., but those were franchises that Sony didn't pay for in the first...
Naughty Dog is easily my favorite... I've been a fan of all of their games since the first Crash Bandicoot on PS1. My second favorite is Team ICO, and next it's Sony Santa Monica for me. I really love Gran Turismo, but Polyphony Digital would probably be my next favorite after Sony Santa Monica.
Studios I'd like to see Sony acquire the most: Quantic Dream, Media Molecule, and Sucker Punch... I would say Insomniac, but Ted has already said they are intent on staying independent, howe...
What's been mentioned in this article, I've been saying for a while now and I said it in another article yesterday: A PS3 price cut is definantly coming if Sony intends on selling 13 million PS3's within this Fiscal year.
This is just my opinion, but in addition to Final Fantasy XIII in Japan, I think the PS3 needs Gran Turismo 5 in addition to a Price Cut to reach (or even come close) to selling 13 million within this fiscal year because those 2 games are pretty much the biggest...
The NaughtyGods are just insanely talented developers. The water effects looked nice, but the Textures on those Rocks looked unbelievable.
It's games like this that define "Play Beyond" on the PS3, and hopefully Uncharted 2 gives the Tomb Raider devs. something to aspire to achieve. October 13th, here I come!
Even though I'm from the U.S., I'm not a big fan of American cars, but the Box Art looks really great.
If Kazunori picks an American car for the cover of GT5, I'm hoping it's either the new Dodge Challenger SRT8 or the new Chevy Camaro because those are some really sweet lookin' rides.
Another thing about October that seems interesting to me is that Sony is coming out with those new Colored PS3 controllers in Red and Blue.... and that's got me thinking that just MAYBE PS3 Slim consoles in Matching colors are on the way as well.
Sony sold the White Dualshock 3 controllers in Japan because there was a White PS3 to go along with it, so it's possible that Sony is coming out with those new colored controllers because they'll have matching colored consoles to go alon...
If PS3 Manufacturing Costs have reduced this much, surely a price cut of some kind is on the way in the near future.... hopefully by this Fall.
Sony's goal is to sell 13 million PS3's within this Fiscal Year, and I honestly don't see how they are going to meet that unless the PS3 gets a price reduction.
Since it's been nearly 2 years since the PS3 dropped in price, if Sony did a price cut, I'm betting that it'll be a significant one (at least $100 dollars) and not a ...
No, Quantic Dream isn't a First Party studio, but Heavy Rain is published by SONY, and the chances of it coming out on the Xbox 360 is NEVER, just like MGS4, never gonna happen.
This is the second time this game has gotten delayed... I remember Dark Void was displayed at E3 last year, and was supposed to come out last Fall, then it got delayed to 09', now it's pushed to 2010. Basically the game is Gears of War with Jet Packs. For now I'm not expecting too much from this game judging from the gameplay I've seen.
There's no way to Spin this dude. The PS3's cheapest system is DOUBLE the price of the 360's cheapest console and the gap is so tiny that it's almost hilarious. The media always makes the PS3 as being a huge loser and lagging far behind, but it can't be doing that bad if the 360 is just barely outselling it.
As far as that little 8 million lead goes, that lead will come down quite a bit once Final Fantasy and GT5 drop, there's no doubt about it.
Damn, the PS3 is still breathing down the 360's neck while being $399 minimum after almost 2 years. A Price Drop along with key titles in specific regions (FFXIII in Japan, GT5 in Europe) is all it needs to get back on track in a major way.
If the gap between sales is that small, then obviously those $199 Hard drive-less Arcade's aren't doing much for M$ in terms of sales.
And there's also more big games in addition to what you said for Q1 2010 like Mass Effect 2, and Alan Wake... damn, 2010 already looks EPIC and that's not even including the games for the 2nd half of the year!
There's so many HUGE games packed into Q1 2010 that it wouldn't surprise me one bit if a few of them got pushed back a little further into April or May.
I really don't think that it's just because of Modern Warefare 2 because this year Publishers are probably learning from what happened last year, because there was several pretty good games that got lost in the shuffle, like Dead Space, Mirrors Edge, and a few others... and neither of those games (especially Dead Space) got the sales it deserved.
What I don't understand about most Video Game publishers is that they seem to forget that December actually exists... I mean last year...
I'm in my 3rd year of college and I'm sure I'll have plenty of money for both games and School, as I've always have.
There was some good games listed, and many of them I'm looking forward to, but it should have been a crime not to include Uncharted 2.
The concept of I Am Alive sounds interesting, but I haven't seen or heard enough from the game yet for me to get even remotely excited for it.
