"The PS3 slim - unless it is all-but "Dumped" at a super low price point, isnt going to make any dent."
Did you forget what happened the last time the PS3 got a price cut in Nov. 2007? It outsold the 360 for the first half of 2008 Worldwide and in the U.S., and in 2008 the PS3 temporarily surpassed the 360's installbase in Europe despite launching over a year later and costing more. It wasn't until Microsoft dropped the 360's price in Europe last year for a 2nd t...
The only thing I'm not 100% sure about is GT5 coming this year and a future update that will add Backwards Compatibility, but I think that the PS3 Slim and a PS3 price cut is pretty much all but confirmed at this point.
Both Heavy Rain and MAG were delayed and Sony could have done that to clear the way for GT5. Kazunori himself said that it could come at "anytime", and to me that means GT5 is pretty much FINISHED and right now they are just polishing it up... since Kazu...
Thank goodness it's not another shooter....there's just WAY too many shooters this gen. My favorite genre is Action/Adventure, and these are the kind of games I want to see more of this gen.
Hopefully at this years Tokyo Game Show there's more info about this game with a Trailer.
Nope.... there's never been a point where I've stopped gaming for a long time, but I defiantly don't play as much as I used to when I was younger because I simply don't have as much time.
And for the most part, my tastes in games haven't really changed either (prefer Single Player gaming) since I started gaming. I just started getting into the RPG genre this gen. (Fallout 3 was my first), and I had only played a couple of FPS games before this gen. even started (Doom, Quake 2, Ki...
I got Uncharted the exact day it came out,and I'm getting Uncharted 2 day one as well, but I've been noticing that it usually takes Sony published titles like FOREVER to drop in price...taking nearly 2 years to drop in price is just too long to me.... and then there's Heavenly Sword, it's a great game and I own it, but it came out Sept. 07' and it's still $59.99!
Microsoft on the other hand seems to decrease the price of most of the games they publish at a much more steady rate, ...
Wow... I never would have suspected Robin Williams was into gaming, especially considering his age.
It's been AGES since I've seen a movie with Robin Williams in it, but from the few I've seen with him acting, Jumanji, Jack, and Insomnia were probably my favorites.
I'm going to have to call B.S. on this article because the PS3's failure rate defiantly isn't that high. This was a survey conducted to 5,000 people, and 5,000 people doesn't really represent the MILLIONS of people that own PS3's, 360's and Wii's and their REAL failure rates.
The 360's failure rate is probably a little below 20% by now, and from what I've read on the internet, both the PS3 and Wii failure rate shouldn't be more than a few percent.
I got ICO back in like 2001 or 2002 and it's definantly one of my personal favorites, but good luck to anyone trying to find it used for under $30 or $40 bucks because it's a pretty Rare PS2 game.
I've been meaning to get Beyond Good and Evil for a long time because I always hear good things about it from people that have played it, but just never got around to it.
"psp GO and slim look like a desperate attempt to squeeze some more sells out of hardware that sells bad "
Happyface, just give up dude. Sony has ALWAYS introduced Slimmed down versions of their consoles, so the PS3 is no different and it's definantly not some "desperate attempt" at anything, it's just Sony doing what they always do, introducing Slimmer hardware and giving the PS3 a much needed price cut after nearly 2 years.
The PS3 is more expen...
"They dont seem to have the money and assets to compete with powerhouses like Nintendo and Microsoft."
Not enough assests? They've got the largest 1st party of all, in addition to a slew of 2nd party, what more "assets" do they need?
Microsoft has been the company that's been shutting doors to some of it's 1st party studios (Ensemble, ACES Game Studio), while Sony's internal gaming division has been UNAFFECTED, despite all of the claims that "...
In addition to Gamescon, there's also the Tokyo Game show, next month. There's PLENTY of time left for Polyphony to show off anything else they have in store for GT5.
I'm guessing that Sony intentionally held off on showing off/saying a lot about GT5 during E3 because they possibly wanted to totally surprise everyone by announcing it for Late 09' whenever a lot of people (including me) didn't realistically expect GT5 until next year.
Even if GT5 doesn't come out this...
What! No Ken Kutaragi quotes?! Some of his quotes just crack me up (most of them made before the PS3's release) but they are still some pretty infamous quotes in gaming for me:

"This time, Microsoft has stated clearly that it is going after PlayStation. However, they're going not after the PlayStation 3, but the PlayStation 2. They were lookin...
I've had about enough of the Rumors.... Just let Sony announce a Price Drop/PS3 Slim/ new PS3 SKU/GT5 Release Date/New Games, etc.... whatever it may be at GamesCon.
If this was here in the United States, I'd immediately say that it was FAKE just based off of the Font alone, but since it's Europe and have no clue what kind of fonts they use for PS3 advertisement , I guess it could possibly be real.
I have to agree with Christian Bale, I think he'd be a good fit and his name alone tends to sell movies pretty well, especially after Dark Knight.
The only one in the article that I would agree with is Eric Bana, mainly because I think that he strikes the closest resemblance and he is also a pretty good actor. I think that Liam Nesson just looks too OLD to play Snake... Hugh Jackman is a pretty good actor, but I just don't think he would be a good fit to play as Snake either.
To have Gran Turismo for PSP ready for 2009, I imagine that Polyphony HAD to hire more people to get it done in time. More employees definantly is a good thing, because maybe then GT5 will be coming sooner rather than later... hopefully by the end of the year, but if not, I hope it's not later than Spring 2010.
I definantly believe that a $100 Price Drop will do big things for the PS3, especially after GT5 and Final Fantasy XIII drop in Europe and Japan, because they both will be major system sellers in those regions.
I honestly don't think the PS3 will catch up to the 360 this gen. unless: more people start buying PS3's for it's Blu-ray, Sony starts marketing more agressively, and unless the PS3 Motion Sensing ends up being a major success and widely popular.
If Sony d...
Naughty Dog is my favorite Sony studio without a doubt, and I still own every game they've made for Playstation consoles except for that Jak X Racing game.
After Naughty Dog is done with Uncharted 2, I really hope they make a Jak and Daxter PS3 game to close up the franchise because I loved Jak on the PS2, and I would LOVE to see what Naughty Dog could do with a Jak and Daxter game on the PS3 while possibly using the Uncharted game engine.
@g3tdown "Will any of you guys sell your old PS3 to buy a slim ?"
Heck, no. I'm NEVER selling my launch 60GB PS3 for anything, as it's one of the most valuable PS3 models to date, because the 60GB along with the 20GB were the only ones to have the Emotion Engine in them for nearly 100% Backwards compatibility.
If the PS3 Slim has Backwards Compatibility, then I'll set aside money to buy it this Fall, but if it doesn't have BC, then I'm not sure if I'll ...
It's probably impossible to describe because there's always so much packed into one GT game, and with the addition of WRC and Nascar, it's shaping up to be one of the biggest Racing Sim's this generation. Still crossing my fingers for a Late 09' release, but I'll gladly take it whenever it's ready for Takeoff.
I think that R&C: A Crack in Time will sell just as good as Tools of Destruction because Insomniac always has their own personal dedicated fanbase that supports their titles and for that reason, I think it's guaranteed to sell 1 million+
Until I got Tools of Destruction this Summer, I had never played a Ratchet game (I was more of a Jak and Daxter fan last gen.) but after playing through it twice and getting the feel of the gameplay, I'll defiantly be getting A Crack in Time ...
